      Hahahaha! You remember the place right across the street too! Haha! You should use Google street to "walk" through that sidewalk now. Tragically, it's all gone and replaced by skyscrapers. It's literally THE main street in music history that has been entirely wiped off the map. It's so sad but I'm glad you experienced 48th street! I use to go from my high school right into Manhattan from Brooklyn and wander around there in 1988.

    I used too play only ESP's, but in 2008 when they switched too the Thin-U Necks on every guitar, from there Fast C-Shaped necks, I ended up switching too Jackson's. I didn't want to make the switch, ESP forced me too. I've been a Guitarist for 20 year's now, and I have big palms, but short fingers. So, the Thin-U neck made Riffing and Lead Playing more difficult for me, simply because they changed to a more bulky neck. I've been searching for some early 2000's EX Series ESP's but I haven't had a lot of luck unfortunately. Cool Guitars Man. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

    • @louistorres
      @louistorres  4 года назад +1

      Oh no! I didn't know they changed their neck profiles. That's terrible that they did that. I don't actually think I've ever played an ESP from 2008 to today. But hell yeah on getting into Jacksons! I have as many Jacksons as I do ESPs! I LOVE Jackson just as much as ESP! Those are the two guitar companies I always check Reverb and EBay for!

    • @lovemetal2467
      @lovemetal2467 4 года назад

      @@louistorres
      Absolutely. Jackson's kick ass. Yeah, they call it a "Thin U Contour Neck". It's wider, more bulky, and it has a lot more drag too it while playing lead or riffing, they're terrible necks. Take care man.

  • @felinekaiju4517
    @felinekaiju4517 3 года назад +3

    If people can't tell the difference between the Jackson and the Pre lawsuit ESP, they need their eyes checked. The Jackson headstock actually goes down steeper and there's a much bigger break angle and the reverse jackson looks like a dislocated digit. ESP refined the design.

      And where is my love for your ESP's!. how rude. I agree, the 80's and early to mid 90's really was the golden era for ESP!. It's a shame I gave to sell my 2 pre lawsuit the Mirage custom and 87 M-I Custom, nothing plays like those guitars!.

Many years later I bought an esp strat from 30th street guitars - it was sea foam green with HSH and Floyd, maple neck/board with fender headstock & esp stamped on back, presumably came from 48th street shop. Hey man, one other question. The ESP trem... I have never been able to get it to return stably and accurately return to pitch no matter what I do. I thought I heard someone say that could have to do with substandard heat treatment on the knife edges and posts (compared to the higher quality Floyds). Do you experience that too? One of mine is like that and I fixed it by using electrical tape on all three springs which allowed it to spring less and causing them to spring back to their original position. The less the springs move, the better and you'll only marginally feel a difference when you dive. Try that and see how that feels.

      I'm gonna pull the trem on another day and inspect the knife edge. I might need to do some slight filing to true it up...but that won't fix the issue if the problem is heat-treat - metal hardness issue. =(

      Prices of ESP guitars are through the roof right now! I wouldn't even know where to start bc they all seem to be over $2,500 and to me, that's crazy! I was buying these for $800 just a few years ago! It's supply and demand and the supply is limited bc no one wants to sell theirs, so just have your money ready, find an ESP you love and ask the seller what's their best price for an immediate sale. Let them decide how much they're willing to lower the price. Some may say they don't need the money and maybe some will lower it a bit just to sell it that day. You never know but just make sure you're ready.

    I'm sure your red m2 custom is my old one , I lost it at house of guitars in slc utah about 2 years ago, never saw another like it, 92 esp catalog cover, im sick that I lost her, but it looks like she has a good home, farewell "red"

      I bought it from my buddy Nick but I know he bought it off a music store who was selling it on Reverb. It has the rare gold Floyd Rose licensed Kahler bridge and Kahler nut. If you have any photos of your old, send it to me if you can. :) Did you buy it new or was it second hand? In all the years, I've never seen such a thick maple top on any guitar as this one does.

      I do have some pictures, it was a very limited small run from Japan , I bought it in a pawn shop for $ $900 , didn't have a case, I added a tremolno to hardtail the floyd, if you ever sell her, give me first chance, I have some cool guitars I could trade too.

    I have an 87 ESP M-I with reverse pre-lawsuit and the ESP trem. It's gloss black.
    My father and I added a slant singlestack so now it's Hum-Single config. Any idea what something like that would be worth? Here's a picture imgur.com/a/FrDRgiC

      Oh my god! If you ever decide to sell it, I will buy it from you! That's literally the guitar I've been looking for, FOR YEARS!!!! The closest is my M1 but it's the downward pointing pre-lawsuit headstock! Please! I would love dibs on her!

      @@louistorres I will let you know. It's my first real guitar when I was 14 years old. My dad spent nearly $1400 on it at Rainbow Guitars here in Tucson Arizona. So, he's 81 years old now, and I may not let it go. Just sentimental for when he passes. But I don't play it anymore. It's sat in it's case since I bought it in 89. (Played in bands for a few years, then stopped when I was 17.) So, knowing that this shit is rare as fuck, I would want someone who knows what it is and wants it to have it. I'll think long and hard about selling it. It's got quite a few dings in it. But, it's def still in fair condition. I'll do a High Res video soon and share it with you another time. Thanks for responding \m/

    Sorry, "MINT" MEANS NEVER BEEN TOUCHED OR HANDLED....

    • @louistorres
      @louistorres  3 года назад +1

      You think mint condition means never used? Come on bro, you must not have ever worked in a store before. When it's USED, Mint means 10/10 which is what this guitar is. Like I made it clear, it looks like it wasn't ever used in all these years. What you're describing is NEW, so all you're doing is bitching bc your wife didn't make you dinner last night. Hahaha. GTFOH. Mint is NOT new, go school yourself before you try to school a dude with 54 guitars. Know what I'm sayin'.
