Thank you!!! I've been looking all over for this! No one showed this part. I have a w211 2006 e350 4matic, same fuse box, same connections, everything else, completely different
I my co-worker walked me through it over a video chat. Since the positive clamp didn't fit, I had to contact a screwdriver to the positive terminal and grip the clamp to the screwdriver. It was a nightmare ( to me) but I pulled it off. Love your videos towman127. Please keep 'em coming.
I know I'm late to this video, but for anyone else currently searching: There should be small (auxiliary) battery and a big, pretty jump terminal on the exact other side of the engine compartment, under the cabin filter. It's that black cover at the 32 sec. mark of the video, between the windshield fluid reservoir and the bottom of the windshield. Removing the filter cover and filter is very easy and intuitive - you will see the one tab holding it in place at the front. Remove the screw and pull up on the front/ tab and it comes right out - and snaps back in just as easily after. (As easy, or even easier than removing the fuse-box cover). While you're at it, check and clean your cabin air filter. Under that filter box, you'll see the small battery and the standalone - hard to miss - positive jump terminal between the battery and the windshield. It's got a big red cover marked with an obvious "+" sign. (If the cover is missing, it's still easy to see it). It's also a good time to clean that space under the filter assembly - it collects all kinds of crap over time. I have a 2004 E320 Wagon and a 2005 E320 CDI and they both have the aux battery and the jump terminal in the same place. Mercdes should have placed a label on the filter cover showing the location and describing the process - because I know they don't advise jumping from the main battery in the rear. But once you know how to find it, it's really easy to access.
Thanks for this info. Was able to follow this procedure to get the trunk open and just the battery. However, the car still didn't have enough change to start the car. Finally after a half hour and by revving motor of the jumper car, I got the car started. After running it a few minutes, we disconnect the jumper and immediately the car shut down. What is the issue? I don't understand.
@@rcmonks you’re welcome. if you disconnect the cables and the vehicle shits off it can be a bad alternator or the battery is too weak. Sometimes when I jumpstart some vehicles I need to leave the jump pack on for a little. Have you tried jumping it again?
@ try to get a tester to check the voltage of the alternator. Once you charge the battery, the car might turn on and run, but only run until the battery runs out. Make sure you’re getting the proper voltage. If the alternator is no good, it will run and drain the battery again. The alternator should be charging at 14 volts.
Had to jump start my 2005 211 280 this morning. Red reduce brake warning light has come on and stayed on. I was able to drive 70ml with the warning buzzer going. Got home, took battery leads off. restarted after an hour. still red warning on. any ideas.
my batteries are dead and the blade key doesnt work how can i get into the trunk og my e200 w211 2003 to change the main battery. I charged the auxiliary battery and it was showing 13.8 so i put it on but no power to the car. I am gonna buy a new one tomorrow to see if its the battery. Any ideas on what be wrong. I checked the fuses and everything is ok. Dont know if there is a way i could send power to the main or jump start the car.
You connected the black cable to the negative terminal. I’ve seen ppl say not to do this, which is correct? Am I able to just put it to the negative terminal?
@@eduardomendoza2989 if I’m using a portable jump pack I connect directly to the battery. If I’m using another vehicle then I put the connections on the vehicle providing the power then the positive on the battery receiving the jump and the negative on a ground not on the battery.
@@eduardomendoza2989 yes that’s how I’ve been doing it for over 24 years and 0 issues. If you ever need to use a ground connection besides the battery never connect to the brackets of the fuse boxes or any bracket that has an electrical component like a pcm/ computer cause you can burn it out. Make sure it’s like a strut nut/ bolt, engine mount or something just nothing with an electrical component.
You can use any exposed metal around the vehicle. Bolts or brackets will work but the location can’t be painted cause you need a good ground connection.

Im going to try this. I closed my trunk after I pulled the battery out. Ugh! Been searching videos to get my 2003 e320. Been trying everything. Every video.
As long as you don’t ground anything out you should be fine. Here’s a link to another Mercedes-Benz if you want to check yours and see if it is the same. ruclips.net/video/f3BNJ6FrdNM/видео.html

Glad it worked out for you. Sometimes it’s hard to reach back there with the jumper cables or portable jump packs.

The battery terminal in the engine bay is so badly placed and designed. So is the fuse box cover!

Its not recommended to jump start it from the battery in the trunk? So the correct way is the battery you mention under the cabin filter?
Just did exactly that and the trunk opened thank you your video was helpful 🇿🇼
You’re welcome. Glad to help!
Not to mention this the only video on RUclips that I’ve come across that actual explains this.. crazy thanks again
Very very few people know about the power in the fuse box!
I like to use small vise grips to get me in hard to reach spots for my jumpbox

If you like you can always remove the key from the key fob using the little slider on it and unlock the boot through its keyhole
That is correct but on the vehicle that I was making a video on the key cylinder wasn’t working
90% of Trunk Key holes are "frozen" from years of not being unlocked physically! I am 1 of the 90%!

You can simply open the trunk with a key when you have no power. Its the small key inside the Mercedes key fob.
Yes but sometimes the owner doesn’t have the key in the remote and sometimes the key cylinder in the trunk doesn’t work. 👍

what's the point to pop the hood? and the point of the fuse box? can I just find the battery in the trunk and boost it?
Sure if you can get the trunk open.
Why u didnt unlock the trunk with the same key u unlocked the door?

You can open the trunk by using a metal key simply insert and turn it to right. Both of my w210 and w211 works.
