t: Why doesn't the LMDE come with the driver manager like the original Ubuntu-based Mint does? Joe

LMDE cinnamon is Debian based, LM21 cinnamon is Ubuntu based . You could also drop a comment to the developers like Clem and his team on the Linux Mint team.
      Regards, t

Don't suppose you'd have any tips for if the driver didn't auto apply/load? I'm using a Nvidia 3070 and every time I install the required drivers, I always get an error. Either drivers won't load (Even Nouveau) causing display issues or something called the "Light Display Manager" won't load properly which doesn't load my desktop at all.

At this point, if your system was functioning before, try timeshift to restore via the live mint usb or dvd, don’t think boot repair will fix issue, but that utility is also on the mint live LMDE usb or dvd which ever you used to install mint. If system works with the Mint Live -open source driver is working, thus maybe a failed driver update? So maybe as last resort is reinstalling, you can still copy personal files using Mint Live in most cases using Nemo, just insert second usb storage device to copy your home folders Personal folders not system. Best of Luck, t

using LMDE6 lately I am not able to run the nvidia drivers installation, after the restart my screen goes to 1024x768 and there is no way to restore it to 1920x1200 (16:10). Switching to Linux Mint Ubuntu edition all is fine and the nvidia drivers are installed with ease.

Video drivers are a funny thing sometimes , now since you got this to work in LM 21.x , you can look at driver in driver manager, the maybe open software manager in LMDE 6 , and see if that driver is there?

After following all instructions, my Nvidia Settings popup looks completely different. The left sidebar only lists Application Profiles and nvidia-settings Configuration. I'm using a 1060 6gb on LMDE 6 Faye.
The GPU populates in System Settings

If prior to updating the driver, did things look OK. If so the open source driver was most likely in use, which works for most users.
Sometimes graphic cards that are old or some that are new can also have NVIDIA driver issues , since they are proprietary not open source , or possibly the system may be using the wrong version of the NVIDIA driver, here are some examples of versions of the NVIDIA driver 470, 535 or 545 as examples, sometimes just checking the internet on what Linux drivers work for your card model - make, is a good start.
You can check in Terminal what version of Graphics card you are using, try this command in Terminal
inxi -Fxz , there is one space after inxi ...... scroll down and look for the graphics section, it should display version of driver.
If it is incorrect , you may have to start by, uninstall the existing driver, search on line for procedure on uninstalling NVIDIA driver if need be.
      Good luck, t

I'm on LM Cinnamon. I took a lot of trial and error to get a driver to work a while back. I have an old GT 970 and only nvidia 370.x would work w/o crashing.

Somtimes the default open source driver is the way to go , NVIDIA in the past did not work well with the Linux community, I think things may have improved somewhat but maybe not on all GPU Chips, best of luck , t
