Congrats on 500 vids 🎉
Thanks
Many thanks for your great video library......ignore the trolls......your speech, presentation & thoughtful manner are appreciated by me....I actually like the repeats of the dialogue, and you speak better English as a 2nd Language than a large portion of the population that speak it as a 1st Language. Again, many thanks for your videos & training :->)
Thanks for the kind words.
What is your DE?
I actually use many, depending what I doing. I lean toward Xfce and Cinnamon Desktop(s) for personal use, I like a stable Linux system like a Debian and or Ubuntu based and there are many out there. I do use Arch Linux mostly Xfce - the KDE Plasma can be sometimes be buggy and more resource intensive depending on version and Distribution , but for stable again I focus and use a LTS or long term support Linux Desktop. Now since my channel majority viewers are New users to Linux, I tend to focus on Distributions for Beginner Linux users , however I do also have advanced material even on those distributions , and even have advanced Linux user Subscribers ....but I like to make video's for the groups that click on my video's... which is a gauge I look at as a content provider by the views data. Regards, t
Hi I work from home and all I need for editing photos is cropping, leveling, lighten back ground and make the picture sharper looking. Gimp is way too much for what I need. What else is out there for editing please?
There lot's of options for photo edit, open software manager look for "gthumb image viewer" for simple editing, there are lot's of these type of photo applications in the software manager , have fun..Regards, t
IGNORE the trolls... they're idiots. YOU have the most perfectly made videos of anyone I've ever seen on here EVER. YOu could actually put a lot of vidoes together in a course and make a fortune with it. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK and ignore the trolling fools- they['ve got nothing themselves and are just jealous of someone that DOES.
Thanks
I used to let the trolls bug me. Now I just ignore them. I like your speaking pace and repetition of course is a good thing Also like the fact that you don't use annoying background music.
Thanks
Thank you very much, for once again, making these very useful and informative videos. It is a great joy every time news comes from you.
Thanks
Awesome! Thank you for Sharing! 💯✴ Unfortunately the internet is full of Jedi Masters!! Just keep going as usual. You are doing Awesome tutorials!
Thank you! Will do!
Thanks for speaking as You do. Very clear to understand. And as always great information. Thanks.
I appreciate that!
Hello @Linux For Seniors. Thanks for the kind words about our little plug-in for GIMP. Just FYI, unfortunately, the version of the plug-in available in the official repository is quite old (version 2.9.4, while current one is 3.5.0). We currently have about 650 filters available now, in the latest version. I thought you'd be interested to be informed. This is possible to install the latest G'MIC version for GIMP, using the binaries we provide on our webpage. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need more information. Cheers! David.
Thank you for reaching out as the developer. I m sure some will reach out to web sites for latest packages, however some will only install what is in the software package managers on their systems for maybe a fear of incompatibility or security reasons. In any case Big Thanks for sharing your valuable information. Best Regards, t
Well i can only speak for myself, there are times, when i need to hear something repeated or for someone to speak somewhat slower in order for me to process something. So thank you for your willingness to be helpful to others.
Thanks for sharing!
You said english is your second language? Well i must say i thought it was your first by how well you speak.
Thanks
I always watch at 3x speed.. so talking speed is not an issue.
I will take that as a compliment, again some may not process info as fast as you and need a slower pace.
Your diction if perfect for a 80 with poor hearing. Thank you.
I will take that as a positive comment, and say thanks
Never would've guessed english is your second language! And thanks for speaking slow and clear. So much easier to follow instructions. Enjoy your videos. ❤
Thank you! 😃
I never would have guessed English was your second language Thor.
Thanks for watching
Sweet vid man
👍
Good video, enjoyed the details, thank you, :)
My pleasure!

Great video, new user was trying to find out how to more video to and from my laptop and desktop Mint computer, thanks again a life saver
Thanks, I'm glad it was helpful.
nice informative video LfS's, i'm kind of po'd now i didn't learn the GUI for ufw... i set up 2 DNS Servers (pi) and while researching UFW configurations for my DNS Servers i came to realize how powerful UFW really is, you can do some really cool stuff with it!! all of this of course (for me) was just to stay sharp, learn something new & challenge my self a little bit... it's really rewarding & gratifying when you learn new things (anyways) thanks for the quality content!!
Thanks
Thank you ! You help me to open firewall to warpinator, in linux mint 22. I like your videos. Greats from Portugal
Glad to hear that
Chapeau et génial mon ami :)
Merci
This is great and informative, thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Been watching a lot of your videos and love them, did have question. I have a Mint 22 box and a Windows box that I run servers. When I try to add another ip into the router for the port forwarding they already exist under the other ip. Do I need another router or switch
Thank you for watching. Not sure exactly what you are asking, but generally you cant have the same IP Address on same network it can cause conflicts, Example: if it's a home network with Non static IP Address, this should not be an issue if running DHCP on your Home router which is common . However it sounds like your are working with router tables, maybe and trying to move things around , so this can get complex , switches are very nice two way comms and are now getting cheap vs HUBs from the past which were one way comms , switches can maybe separate those, I am assuming you are using Ethernet. Some times my comments have been screen out by RUclips, if you see line thru's or may not get this message. However hopefully some of this was helpful. Best Regards, t
As a significantly more senior senior I find your tutorials really helpful - I just wish I could think as fast as you can talk! The 'K' key in youtube is my saviour. Anyway, over the years I have been using multiple PCs in my home network I have continually run into the issue of not being able to communicate between PCs (a mixture of Windows (now only Win 10) and multiple Linux distros). This tutorial has made a great difference already, but I wonder if you could give a wider view of how to setup secure file access and transfer between PCs on a home LAN - with special emphasis on avoiding making security blunders.
Thanks for watching . So here are some tips: *Firewalls with correct ports Rules is one idea, SSH Server - SSH Client is another idea these use SFTP or secure File transfer protocol in file manager at least for Nemo you can also use Terminal for SSH, Old Windows computers in my book have always been a little buggy when networking, SAMBA for file sharing can be buggy with all computers, I'm not sure how reliable KDE Connect would be in Windows but that would be an option to explore , don't forget the KDE Connect Firewall rules also if using. I have a lot of Video's that cover some Firewall info, SSH, SAMBA and KDE Connect as examples, best of luck. Regards, t
Hi, I'm new in LINUX Just ask a simple Q... is it true that LINUX can't be installed in eMMC ? I've tried several distros, and they all failed Need advice, Thank u
I believe eMMC is embedded multimedia card, flash memory... generally intended as a common choice for consumer electronics.
I'm a 70 year old newb and this is well over my head.
Thank you so much for watching, I have all kinds of Video's on my channel , for just about any user skill level of Linux . This Video's you commented on, states in the title Advanced Bookmarks which is for folks that deal with server software for Advanced concepts . Best Regards, t
please, can you make a video for explain configuration and solve some problem with gdrive. than you for your video. (italy)
I will assume you mean Google Drive ?on the question on solve some problem? with gdrive, and configuration. I would suggest you reach out to Google Support for your specific issue since you just stated some problem, and configuration, since some could be result on your private account, which is something I could not make a video for. Best of Luck, t
glad to see your channel growing some!
Thanks.
Can you make videos about dhcp, dns, domain controller, web services? thanks🎉
Wow , a loaded request .. most of this information if not all have been addressed by some of my Video's of the past in my library and the Internet by many Folks. The Internet can also answer these subjects easily in most cases with the right keyword searches. Regards,t
As always, very nicely done. Thank you.
My pleasure!
Happy New Year Question can you do a video installing the media kodi on Linux Mint 22 I have no luck installing it Thanks
Happy New Year to you also. Sorry but I do not use that software, but i did install Kodi main app and the meda kodi package add on without errors, but again not that familiar with this software. Regards, t
Man, thanks for this. I've never used Nemo as anything but a file explorer. It never occurred to me I could use it to connect to a server. I just tried it with the website I run on a hosting service - was always using Filezilla - and boom, I'm in. One tab my local website files, the other the server. Excellent.
Happy to help, glad you found it useful.
Thank you for the video's Happy New Year 😊
Thanks, all the best you and your family this new year.
Great video. One query - does the name used in the hosts entry have to match the actual hardware. I have some items of hardware that do not have a name - it would be nice if the hosts entry could function like an alias.
Thanks, normal when a Hosts file is added manually - resolving IP address to a Name, were are assuming the machine is ether a Static IP address on the Network card on the computer, and or if on a Home network, the Router is most likely using DHCP ... Normally , but not always, the Home Router assigns same IP to that Network card computer , no alias . Now the name of the computer is normally just the simple name of the computer when it was installed, some users will try long names , not what I would recommend or using spaces in the name, a lot of undesired outcomes can occur, on my Rsync Video's I do mention that it's not a great idea to use space's in the drive name(s) , especially if one is using script files... that would add more complexity to the script for example for it to work properly , hopefully some of this is helpful. Best Regards, t
