I sat down and vowed to try and make a video about Vane's death from Eleanor's POV and it may be one of the hardest projects I've ever vidded. The main problem was, I kept projecting how I would feel if I'd killed the man I love onto Eleanor. The guilt, being haunted, etc...but there's just no evidence that Eleanor feels that way. God, I hope she does. How Vane's blue eyes and smirk couldn't haunt her the rest of her life is beyond me. I feel that the writers will have done her character a disservice if they don't show her regret at some point. Maybe we'll get something next season, but I'm not holding my breath. Anyway, I tried to vid her as honestly as I could and I found lots of parallels between her scenes with Vane and how the same scene with Rogers doesn't compare. I also found that by the end of Season 3, she forgot how to make any face except a cold fish face. Which is too bad. But here this is, and I'm fairly happy with how conflicted and intricate it turned out. Those two words certainly fit this ship.
Anyway, I'll thank those of you who endlessly support Eleanor's decisions not to try and change my mind about her. I won't forgive her character. I don't think Hannah New is a bad actress, I'm not boycotting the show...I just no longer count Eleanor as a favorite character. She had magical, fiery chemistry with Vane in Seasons 1 and 2 and Vaneeleanor will always hold a place as a ghost!OTP. But I don't forgive her and this video made me realize that even more. Forgive me.

True. I can understand a lot. But I can not forgive her cowardice and egoism. And her indifference. Never.
And it is a pity that Eleanor did not have time to understand and feel the depth of her mistake.

Oh no! Sorry for the spoiler. I promise that this show is one of the very best up until his death. I hope it will continue being decent for its last season, but I'll definitely miss Charles. I still encourage you to keep watching though...there's still lots of wonderful Charles scenes in your future!

Thanks for showing Eleanor's point of view. I love her, she is such a strong character and I admire her perseverance and I get tired of reading the Eleanor hate. It is awful that she let Charles be executed, but he did kill her dad...I will miss Charles, though, he was the heart of the show. I am interested to see how the show moves forward but will miss shipping those two, though they were more of a wreck than a ship.

This was super interesting to watch because I never really noticed those parallels.
But yeah, I dont think we ll get a lot of regret from her..at least i dont think so. But i hope we will.
I think my fav line that summed up their relationship perfectly was always the "why do you see such a hero in him and such a villain in me" or smth like that.
Their chemistry was great and while Charles was no angel he was never cruel and actually rather nice most of the time.
And Eleanor just stabbed him in the back over and over again..sigh

Thank you so much for your kind comments and analysis. I agree about Charles. Yeah, he was a ruthless pirate...but not with Eleanor. There's no way he would've ever executed her. Not in a million years. Which is the root of my dismay with her. I'll have to check AO3 to see the fixed ending, thanks. ;)

Thank you very much for your videos! I really love their love story, but, anyway, they both did mistake. Of course, i don't approve Eleanor's reaction towards Vane's death, but, on the one hand, he killed her father...Being Eleanore, i wouldn't forgive him too... On the other hand, it might be interesting to look after their relationships, but , after this murder, I suppose, there might not be the continuation of their love story. Anyway, I so sorry for Charles...In last episode we saw his nature and it turned out, that he was really caring and thoughtful character.
Thanks for watching and commenting! Charles really was a better person than his pirate persona lead us to believe at first. Next to Flint, he was probably the most multi-faceted character on the show, which is one reason (of many) why I'm going to miss him so much. It's hard to imagine no new Charles scenes. It's a shame.
you have captured Elenor's true struggle, peace or passion? you can see it in her face she struggled to fight the urges to jump into vane's arms but she knew he will drive them to their death with his vow to his men and the sea. She wasn't happy at all with the dude she picked over Vane. She was using him for protection. She was confusingly yet deeply in love with Vane. I felt for her at some point but banged my head each time she turned her back to Vane when he tried to show her he can change to a certain extent. When she stood there and watch Vane get hung I don't understand why she didnt tear up or even cried. It made me wonder if maybe SHE was using Vane for his muscle and fearing her for sleeping and being his number one woman, should anyone dare mess with her they have to go through Vane and he is ruthless. She either played it smart or was VERY lucky to know when to switch sides. Never the less youll always need to remember, no matter how shitty of a father Eleanor dad was, at the end of the day he was her father and her lover killed him. It is one confusing hell of a test of devotion; to her father who raised her or the man that somewhat gave her passion. She picked peace. good thing this wasn't based on a true history, yeah? lol
