Just found Austin’s channel. I recently purchased an Aviron rower. I’m extremely happy with the product & their tutorial videos featuring Austin have helped me so much!
I'm 72. I've owned many machines, and learned one lesson above all others. Every time I opted for a less expensive machine in the belief that I was being "sensible" and "economical", I didn't stick with it. I especially remember my first "rowing" machine that had shock-absorber like things that provided the resistance. Fundamental truth: a more expensive machine that you continue to use regularly for years is a bargain. A less expensive machine that winds up unused is a total WASTE of money.
Austin, your videos are always top notch. As someone who has always been active Boxing, Martial Arts, Weightlifting, Rowing and Stretching. 30 years of intestinal problems and I've finally found the problem........... Exercise; inflames my intestines and that's crushing for me!!! I have another appointment next month and I will see if anything can be done, for right now no exercising at all except stretching. I'm glad I'm in very good shape as now I'm dormant doing no lifting or rowing. Thanks for your rowing videos that helped my physical fitness as far as looking really good at 60 years old. Hopefully I can resume in the future??
Given the choice between a second hand Concept 2 with a basic PM3, or a brand new Amazon machine I would go C2 every time. On another note I am happy to see you sponsored by a company with an actual product, not one of the dodgy Scottish laird and lady scams.
I totally agree....with your assessment!!! and he is for the most part an honest husker.....insomuch he hawk's quality products.... also I too have a used C2 PM very used rower....LOVE IT!!!!!
Any opinion on the MERACH Water Magnetic Rowing Machine? it seemingly combines water with magnetic, and has a free app that uses bluetooth. I know it has the rotating pedals, and you are not a fan of that. I am wondering if i couldnt build a way to lock them in place? but for 399 it seems like a good entry point. I can't justify spending over 1k right now, but I am kinda desperate for a way to get back in some kind of shape. Thanks for your videos.
Hi Austin, yet another awesome video! I really appreciate your honesty and critics of the cons of some of the "budget" rowers, which really helps people select the right machine for them and avoid the endless barrage of crap out there. My wife and I are both under 300 lbs, I'm 6' 3", 36" inseam, with knee and back problems, and we're looking for an exercise machine that offers the least amount of impact and will give us the most complete overall full body workout. We're not primarily looking to lose weight or body build and I don't think that we truly need all of the data metrics which those aiming to improve their rowing would. We simply need to exercise daily to stay healthy although core strengthening is highly recommended for my back issues. We feel that a water resistance rower best fits these goals. I've watched your budget friendly rower videos from the last few years, and as price is a pretty large concern for us, we'd like to stay between $300 - $500. Another significant consideration for me is how high the seat is which may make getting onto and off of a rower increasingly difficult if not impossible into the future. Learning how important full extension is in both the finish and recovery stages are, we've narrowed it down to these machines: Can you please offer your insight and wisdom on the differences of the 2 different models of these 2 brands below? Sunny Health & Fitness Obsidian Surge 500 vs Phantom Hydro SNODE WR66 vs WR100 And this machine looks great for the price (Amazon claims that it's on sale for 53% off, but we know how Amazon's star ratings and discount pricing works...) STAR POWER Water Rowing Machine www.amazon.com/POWER-Rowing-Machine-Weight-Capacity/dp/B09QRD83RY/ref=sr_1_4?crid=3L6O9OEAU1W68&keywords=water+rowing+machine&qid=1673573806&refinements=p_36%3A23610985011&rnid=23959973011&s=exercise-and-fitness&sprefix=water+rowing%2Caps%2C106&sr=1-4 And then there's this one www.amazon.com/Machine-Resistance-Capacity-Exercise-Digital/dp/B0BN8R8ZVW/ref=sr_1_10?crid=MY4UC2USKD9Y&keywords=water+rowing+machine&qid=1673579426&sprefix=%2Caps%2C90&sr=8-10 It looks like a lot of the cheap makers are wising up and imitating the major features that the other good machines have. I know that you really dislike non-adjustable and especially pivoting foot pads, but watching the videos of people using both types, it doesn't seem to me that they would cause potential injury and may actually be more comfortable during recovery. Thank you so very much for taking the time to read all of this, and most of all for your great and helpful videos!
Been wanting a rower for years now, finally wanting to start. I came across your videos and now think I found a good “starter rower” that looks alot like the Snode. Amazon had a deal for it for $315. It’s a yosuda water rower. Any thoughts? (You can be honest) It’s suppose to be here Saturday and after watching your video on proper form and the dos and don’ts, I’m pretty excited. Maybe if I prove to my wife that I can stick with it, I’ll be able to purchase a better one. 😂
@@emmanuelseals6243 Seems to be working well, I don’t have any experience with any other ones, so I can’t really compare. I do 15-20 minutes a day, 5 days a week at 27-32 SPM. I’m pretty happy with it.
Per your own opinions from the tier list video, wouldn't you prefer the Sunny Phantom Hydro Water Rower? It had the good metrics AND adjustable, no-pivot foot straps. Isn't the way better than this for around the same amount (less actually).
Hey there! can you advise on the best rowing iphone app? I've a Waterrower (decathlon partnership) with bluetooth that I pair with the e-connect app from decathlon, but it's not great. The Waterrower app it's not the best also. Thanks
The c2 monitors have a sensor that reads four magnets embedded in the flywheel. You would have to drill The flywheel for the magnets, mount the sensor so it can "read" them and build a mount for the monitor. By the time you bought the Snode and the c2 stuff to build your frankenrower you would be close to the cost of the c2. Short answer, no.
Those who learn proper rowing form all object to modeling cheap rowing machines, hence the ongoing hilarity. Note - after untold millenia, another few years of supply chain problems, and general inflation everywhere you look, C2 finally raised the price 10%. Comes tablet-ready now, standard.
Look at some of his older vids, his hair is long most times up in a man bun of some sort. Usually not a huge fan but he pulls it off. And when it’s down, meow meow! He is 6 ft 8in BTW, he mentions this in other vids…

Would you consider making a video or sharing your thoughts on the Peloton Row?

I've put 15 million meters on mine and it has needed no maintenance except a bit of chain oil. What's not to love.
I bought a snode rower last year. I love it. The only thing I don't like is the monitor.

what do you think about the Snode machines with the water + magnetic resistance?
Good preowned c2 rowers are out there for pretty resonable $. They last many years in a D1 program. A homeowner would be hard pressed to wear one out.
I’m ready for a training tall rower to come out
The link given takes me to a different rower from Snode. Were you hijacked or is this the one to get now that it is 2024? Thanks for the video.

Do you know which row computers show estimated time of finish? I know concept 2 does, but are there any others you know of? Thanks!
Hi can you give your opinion on the JTX fitness flow water rowing machine please😊
How about the MAXXUS AirRow? visually there are almost no difference

Does anyone know, where I can order that to Austria?
any ways to upgrade the monitor on these cheap rowers? like replacing it with other companies more reliable monitors?

I wish you'd commented on what's wrong with the guy's rowing form.
Price is $799 now.
Have you seen the Row Warrior Rowing Machine on Amazon for $900?
He does not look that tall on video, I thought. What caught my attention was he looks cute.

@@jenniferbond7073 Thanks. He should be a model. The bun and the mustache I could do without.
