McIntosh make some of the most beautiful products in the industry. I am from the UK and have never heard a McIntosh amp, yet I have always lusted after them. Simply stunning.
If a power tube is running very hot, it’s called red plating. Identified by the plate (grey material inside the tube) glowing red. Not yo be confused with the red glow found in the top and base of the tube
Sometimes tubes wind up lasting longer than transistors, not always, but at least they are easy to change. If you do something wrong in a solid state circuit, it can cause catistrophic failure. Also using your tube equipment regularly keeps the capacitors in good shape, idleness is bad on capacitors.
I almost forgot to watch the video because I was mesmerized by the Saker Contour Gauge Profile Tool advertisement. Watching people mash the bright safety Orange colored thing against various oddly shaped...um...contours fascinated me. :P
My opinion is the MC275 is the coolest amp they've ever made. Plus, if you are going to give an option to change the led color on the tubes, you should have the lettering led match the tube led color. Doesn't look right to have the tubes blue and lettering green. Just my opinion.
