No one wants to play with a doll with no articulations and the outfits are terrible! That's true I guess, but I feel like there were nicer looking combos they could have done if that was the goal? @Altoid Bazingá kinda, but not really - what kid doesn't want to grow up quicker, want the toys their older siblings have, and if a parent collects dolls, then those off limit dolls are the ones they want most. I remember hating baby dolls because I wasn't a baby, and was so upset when we were given "life size" dolls and mine was obviously a child, while my sister's was a young lady. I'm sure the creators of the Barbie and the doll it was based on were quite surprised that they became children's toys, but as a kid, it seemed crazy that there were dolls for adults lol

    • @queenmoreau2098
      @queenmoreau2098 3 года назад +5

      I don't mind Barbie having a budget line. These dolls being as diverse as they are and as cheap as they are makes them easily accessible and inclusive for every child. Not everyone can afford to pay $20+ dollars for a doll. So something less than half the price but still looks nice and is still part of the Barbie brand is welcomed. The quality is lower and the clothes aren't very detailed, but little kids like 5-7 year olds won't make as much of a fuss about it. They don't know what's in style and what isn't when it comes to the fashion world. They don't know what hair quality and material is better than the other. They just want a pretty and sturdy toy to play with. I'm not saying this to say not to criticize the Barbie fashionista line, but to say the target audience for these dolls are less likely to care about this and like someone else said, that's likely who they are aiming for. I personally love the Barbie fashionistas. Not too much for their clothes, but for their face molds. I use them to make custom barbies. I wish we had as much skin tone variety in their made to move line, though.

    A perfect idea for the fashionistas would be like a little playset, like they had in the 2000s, where you could print your own fabric and make your own barbie clothes for her. I remember a set like that, and I feel like it would really add a lot of fashion play to the doll.

    I just can't with modern Barbie and the fashions lately. Every so often you'll get something cute (I like simple, but am picky about colour) but most of the time the patterns are mismatched and the colours are garish and it's gross. Esepcially when it comes to Ken clothes. My male dolls are severely lacking in decent clothing. I miss the sparkly gowns, to be honest! I've bought a bunch of older Barbie clothes off of eBay for my dolls -- in part because I have a handful of Princess dolls and I'm not putting Elena of Avalor (and friends) in those awful patterns -- but also because I wanted the cute and sparkly dresses. I understand them wanting to be more "on trend," but why can't we have BOTH nice, trendy fashions AND sparkly dresses?

    Well, I understand that you feel disapointed about the new fashionistas. here's my explanation about them:
    -Nowdays, 80's are trendy. I think it's like this since the "Stranger Things" boom. If you observe, there are a lot of products related to that decade: Wonder Woman 84, Ghost busters, SheRa's reboot, etc. And Barbie's fashion sense is partially based about real people interests, so that's why it's like this. Also, in another video, I see that the 2000's will be back in fashion, so you're not wrong about these clothes.
    -These "potato sack" dresses are maded like this not because its's more economic and fast to create, but also they are also maded for Curvy Barbies. In "My froggy stuff" channel, I saw a lot of fashion packs where Froggy points that these clothes, for regular bodies, are usually "loose", but in the other hand, for Curvy Barbies fits perfectly.
    In my opinion, I think they look like a "cheaper" version of the "Barbie Extra" new line, but I like the colors they wear! For me, usually it's the most important in a outfit.
    That's all. Have a nice day! 👋🏻

      Do none of y'all realize the dolls cost $7.89? They are less quality because they come at a cheaper price point. That's the whole point. They are a budget friendly dolls. It's not about being inclusive. That has nothing to do with the quality of the dolls. It's about how much they're selling them for and these are some of the cheapest brand name dolls you can buy. You get what you pay for. You want better quality, ask them to come out with a more expensive doll line for you. But this budget doll line doesn't need to go and y'all need to stop hating on it as an excuse to attack its diversity. The reason the quality is lower is because they are cheap dolls. The price point should tell you that. Growing up in the 1990s and early 2000s, Barbies weren't this cheap unless they were Dollar Store knockoffs.

      @Optimus Prime It's the trendy thing. They will stop doing that the moment it's not profitable anymore. Like in my country for example, they don't bring the black ones because they don't sell well. People want the character Barbie. The fashionistas are only selling because of the collection factor. Most of the people I know think at least half of then are ugly and forgettable. Mattel had to do it because they would be crusified if they don't. When the focus was on the main character they could do a better job, but now they're getting bankrupt while having to be eco-friendly that means cheap materials and expending their profit developing ugly dolls to compel to people who does not even like them.

BUT they definitely need to up there game on the fashionista line, we love that they are more inclusive but besides the made to moves they are all very very boring, no play or collection value period, remember when the fashionistas actually had make-up and jewelry and were all articulated, I for one wouldn't mind paying extra for a better doll, they really need to change the name of this line to barbie basics and totally redo the entire fashionista line, remember when mattel went all out for xmas too, barbie in santa outfits, the pink xmas, now you get 1 holiday collector doll, come on mattel, listen to your fans!! That whole point of the line. The fashions are plain and out of date they look like early 2010s clothing. I could confidently say I could redesign the whole fashionistas label and clothing. It’s so easy just look at 2020 fashion trends and go to Pinterest take inspiration from cute outfits!

    You completely missed the references to Barbie and the Rockers and Malibu Barbie. I agree that the Fashionistas are not that fashionable in general but are more trendy sportswear at best. The “potato sack” dresses are probably an easy solution to the varied body types. The curvy girls have a limited wardrobe as it is and this is probably a way for a child to share clothes when playing. I’ve been watching your vids for a while now and I would recommend brushing up on your Barbie and doll history before the videos just a bit more. I understand that’s a time commitment but a little research now and again would add up to a much more informed video in the long haul.

    These barbies just look SO cheap. It's also super bothersome that it's part of the 'fashionista' line, when fashionista generally means someone that is VERY fashion forward, and they just shove all these dolls in potato sacks. The two ken dolls legit just look like they're wearing pajamas. It's annoying partly because things COULD be done to make some of these outfits work. Like the outfit at 4:00 , just ditch the sleeves, put ruffles around the bottom of the skirt and cinch it at the waist. It still wouldn't be great, but it would look less like a pajama top my grandma would wear.
    I will say that I like the 3 wheelchair dolls though. I think those 3 are all dressed pretty cute.
