Relax, he always forgets something. I think he's more interested in DST so I'm not sure how familiar he is with the DLCs, but I personally wouldn't feel this is inexperience.
I'm also curious about the harpoon, so if anyone could describe the stats and gimmicks that'd be cool.
@General .catallion Beard repeats information whenever it's relevant, so that shouldn't be a problem (I remember multiple recent videos repeating things about food or the thrall net). He probably just forgot.

I just finished dying to a dragoon egg before getting to know what to do with my first whale carcass last night, the timing on Beard uploads is insane.
You can also use a boat cannon to increase the bloating stage by 1 instead of a dragoon egg.

Oh my gosh, I just need a place to vent right now, so if you're not interested in my (rather long) rant, you can keep scrolling down.
I had spawned in the perfect world.
I'd found a great island that had a nice beach, a pretty large sweet potato patch, a jungle with no snakes, spiders or monkeys, and stuff like the Yaarctopus and the slot machine relatively close by, and I had a decent base going to boot.
I was playing as Wendy, as she's my main due to the fact that I know I'm not a strong fighter and Abigail helps a lot with multiple mobs and stuff when I get overwhelmed.
And so, I found an island where the monkeys were fighting the water beefalo, and decided to chip in, since the monkeys were already doing some great damage to them, right? Luckily, things go well, and the beefalos go down pretty quick and easy. But then, right after the last beefalo fell, it was night. I quickly made a fire pit relatively close to the loot and figured I'd pick it up in the morning and hope the monkeys didn't try to take it.
Turns out, the monkeys weren't my biggest problem.
There were apparently snakes on this island as well, and they were taking full advantage of my loot! They started eating my loot! I had to put a stop to this immediately, and so I got out my bottle lamp and set it on the ground closer to the loot, and sicked Abigail on them. Now Abigail had already been through quite the beating, as you know, and beefalo are no joke when they're all together like that.
Fortunately, a couple snakes was still not enough to defeat Abigail, and the night was really short so it wasn't long before it was morning and I could collect my loot. My inventory and backpack were pretty full though, and I didn't have room to pick up my lantern, so I just turned it off hoping the monkeys wouldn't be interested.
Nope.
Some little turd monkey stole my lantern! I couldn't believe it! I should have known I suppose, but I'd just hoped...
Sigh, anyway, after getting over my shock, I knew I had to get it back, cause those things are not easy to come by. So, I lead the small group of monkeys I'd unwillingly collected, and lead them away from the other monkeys (as there were a lot of monkeys on this island), and started wailing on one of them. I didn't know which one took my lantern, but I'd find out if I killed all of them.
Now, as you probably know, if Wendy fights, Abigail fights, and like I said, Abigail was already pretty beaten up by both the beefalos and the snakes the night before, so this was the final straw. Luckily, there was only one monkey left after Abigail was down, and he was probably pretty weakened from her attack, so he went down real easy.
And so, Abigail was down, but that's not why I'm upset. This is just context for why I'm actually upset.
So, after gathering up all the loot I could carry, I head back to my base, and drop off the loot, decide to take care of my sanity from the monkey fight and overall just wonder what to do with myself until Abigail comes back.
I finally decided to retrieve some loot from a chest I found on another island. It was good loot too, with a boat cannon, a spyglass, some gems and other goodies in it. I couldn't get it before, because again, my inventory was full.
It happens a lot.
Anyway, as I'm leaving towards that island, I pass the bloated whale carcass that I killed earlier and some boat knights. The whale looks ready to pop, so I decided to postpone my plans and take care of this as soon as possible, as I don't know if those things can eventually pop on their own without you, or if you need to do it every time, and they'll just sit there as long as you don't pop them.
So I quickly defeated the knights who were easy to beat even without Abigail, and after all the knights are gone I pondered if now was a good time, as I knew houndfish came whenever a whale is popped (even if you ask for a game with no houndfish), so I thought I'd be prepared with a boat kit.
As it turns out, it was absolutely a bad time.
I popped the whale carcass, and almost immediately there were houndfish all over the place! There had to be like 7 or 8! And they were chipping away at my boat FAST. I tried to fight back, but there were too many. So then I tried to run away, but THEN night came, and I completely forgot to look at the time, so in my escape, I had to pause to turn on my lantern, and my boat got even more damaged! I tried to repair it, but doing so was ultimately my doom. As I was in the middle of repairing my boat, one final chomp from a houndfish, and my boat (and my heart) sank.
The worst part?
The whale gave a Cutlass supreme.
A CUTLASS SUPREME.
*Deep breath*
And now, I have to start all over again in a different world, and nothing I did in the world before matters.
Sigh, this is why I like casual mode in Don't Starve, cause even if you die, it's not the end. You still have more opportunities in the world you've grown used to. I just wish Don't Starve: shipwrecked had a casual mode too, as I just hate playing and fearing losing all my progress.
Sigh, but regardless, I should have known to wait for Abigail. I should have known to check the time. I should have known to run away instead of wasting time repairing my boat.
Overall, I should have known that paradise couldn't last forever.
My luck had run out. ☠️⚰️

Hey Beard, can you please do a guide on graves? Like what you can dig up, how to combat ghosts (*cough* ibegofyouhelpme *cough cough*), and methods for going about the whole thing? I'd appreciate it a lot, just like I do all your videos. You are literally the only reason I've been able to live in game longer than my first winter.
Also, tips for the Dont starve Adventure mode, because I have no idea what I'm doing. Please and thank you and all my love for the almighty beard.

You actually missed a couple things. 1.) Apparantly the Sea Leg's cannon can speed up the bloating of whales, Im not completely sure about that though.
2.) If Maxwell examines the white whale, he will make it apparent they have a history, and Maxwell may have been the one to shoot the whale with the poon.
I liked the vid though, keep up the good word Beard!
As for 2, Maxwell might also just be making a Moby Dick reference/joke.

An island near a swamp if it has a Merm Fisherman as that is a constant stream of free food that you have to do nothing for, that is the top notch place.

I killed a blue whale and it’s been 15 days but it still hasn’t bloated, is there a reason for that or just a bug?
Unfortunately it sounds like you haven't been quite close enough over those 15 days to have it happen. It's annoying, especially when you only have to "re-load" the thing once nowadays to fix it and the game will literally blow the whales up themselves eventually but I'm guessing that's what went wrong.

What do you do with a drunken whaler

Can someone please explain how to use the fishing nets I don't understand how they work? °^°
Thrall nets? Beard talks about it in like two of the latest videos, you just attach it to your boat where the sail would be and keep moving. They'll catch 9 random items before floating, then you can open it to get the items. If you pass on top of seaweed it gives you an item that allows you to replant them, but be sure to pick the seaweed *first* otherwise each one will take 2 slots. Also be careful to not go over mussel beds, they remove them and give you only one mussel (though I guess you can just use it to move the bed).
And don't put your sail back with the net attached, it'll drop prematurely (or disappear, mine disappeared but I'm not sure there was any item in it, so that might be the reason).

@@mrwaht5881 put roe [dropped sometimes by those black birds that land on the water] in the fish trap and then wait
^what this guy said. really annoying because they eat the roe almost as soon as they hit the water and it's kinda rare for them to show up in the first place (from my experience). Still good to have at least one for when you happen to get roe. Also, wait until you can see a lot of fish shadows and a bigger one on near the surface before harvesting so you get 4 fishes.
