- These are the differences from the original game to the remake. A couple of things I forgot to mention:
Narrator speaks as story is being told on next screen, &
Dracula in his second phase also has that jumping attack with the green projectiles

I hope Alucard is the original. Change the other voices, fine, but Robert Belgrade is the definitive Alucard. A crime they never got him back to read the new dialogue, he'd crush it again.
Unfortunately the guy developing this remaster said he's not using the original voice acting

@@saxyman11 that is unfortunate. Use the new VA's for the other characters, but leave Alucard as og 😅 I don't think the dialogue is all that different, I'm sure his lines will still match when he's talking to Maria, Richter etc..
seems crazy that a guy with a patreon for a SotN project is removing the incredibly iconic ps1 voice lines and also taking a super aggressive and childish stance on it to boot, but hey, his project, lmao
@@gabrielenriqueparrarodrigu7223 the PSP dialogue is different from the OG PSX/Saturn dialogue. I'm not saying the new dialogue isn't more accurate or translated better from the Japanese version, I'm saying while it is a bit different, maybe it's possible to put the new dialogue/voice actors for the rest of the game, while keeping the original Alucard, because the original Alucard sounds way better lol. Or if it's a fan project just see if Robby Belgrade would record the new lines. There's a fan project out there where the people who made that game were able to get Robby to come back and play Alucard again, he's clearly down. Just a matter of how much he's wanting to get paid lol.
Seeing the amount of work being put in just Richter gives me high hopes for how much Alucard will change

It's projects like this where you really need to step back and ask, "is what I'm adding taking away from the original."
In the remastered, Richter says “thanks” to Maria after lending him her strength.
Power Wave isn't new. It is used in the original, but since Dracula can be quickly defeated in the prologue, you may not encounter it.
The added attacks and sprites to Dracula's fight were the parts that impressed me the most when playing the demo, that and the changed 3D cutscene of the Castle in the beginning. I think using the PSP voices is a smart choice since it means the game can have use voicelines from other games that the PSP actors, like Dracula's Fatal Ray line from Ecclesia. That's just a nice change to me.

The hack is pretty cool, but I think the short slide jump and the mana system (for uppercut and tackle) ruins the fun tho. Might be good as a Richter only game/hack, since bonus character in Castlevania usually has sick movement and this one doesn't.
Incredible work! It’s a little sad to see the slide-kick-thing unnecessarily nerfed so heavily, but otherwise this version looks like a straight upgrade! So impressed at the love and care!

I don't like it when Richter disappears like there's a missing frame from the spritesheet.
But I think this is actually quite enjoyable.
It’s a given that this remastered version is not accomodating to new players to the series, it makes sense in the original that Dracula’s movements and attacks would be slower and limited so that way new players can easily beat him and depending how long it takes depends on the items you begin with with Alucard and I highly doubt that “hardware limitations” would be a valid excuse for this reasoning as well, from the looks of this remaster that is definitely not the case as you can see it definitely takes a lot more effort and skill to avoid getting damaged which would definitely end up overwhelming any new player to the games
There are also stats attached to Alucard that are determined by how well you did in the prologue, so making the fight basically require the player to be very familiar with how Richter plays doesn't really make sense from a design standpoint.
Yes, from a lore standpoint Dracula should be difficult, but there is no game before the prologue fight for the player to become familiar with Richter to offset that difficulty.
Probably an unpopular opinion, but I like pretty much all of the original moves and effects way more than the remake ones. They are all just far more polished and visually cohesive than the new ones. Same goes for other elements as well - the portrait looks bizarrely out of place and incorrectly proportioned, and the high-res intro just looks cheap. Speaking of intro - in spite of getting normal-mapped textures, Dracula's castle lost, like 90% of its geometric complexity and now looks more like a small keep rather than a sprawling complex.
Also, why the hell is the tutorial boss this freaking hard now? What sense does that make game-design-wise?!
Yeah, but i think no one who tries the games for 1st time searches a fanmade remake, so it’s hard bc game is made for actual fans

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I do not like the Richter portrait change- it is a bit unfitting alongside SotN Dracula's one as Ayami Kojima has improved over time with her artwork, and putting her later art alongside the original one makes it all look a bit inconsistent to me. I get that it the developer wanted to address the common complain of Richter's visual inconsistency though, but it'd be better if all portraits were from the same era tbh
I agree and disagree. I think the original should be used but the older pic is when Richter turned evil temp. But to me the only drawback it makes Richter look like a preteen

@@Chino-Kafu I prefer this new way. Use old design richter from the time he killed dracula and long hair and outfit richter from the time he was being controlled by shaft. It feels more consistent.

mm...yeah no, the original just has that charm to it that didn't need to be 'fixed' or changed for that matter. A remaster would be fine if visuals only were updated, not changed sprites, not changed voices, not changed items etc.

The new Richter sprites look good and all, but they deliberately chose to make him look the same as he did in Rondo of Blood. Changing his appearance severs that connection to the previous game.

It's absolutely amazing to have more improved. The original cutscene for the castle still my favorite and the model of the castle. With the remastered version, once the camera looks at the castle, you should move forward instead of letting stay for a short period until it needs to move. Some how Richter's remastered run animation looks a little off, his legs doesn't look like their moving in the right place. His body moves fast, but his legs seems to be a little slow. With the pyro storm, are you planning to have a little fog on the bottom of screen because of the storm

Your apologies and concerns at the start of the video are valid. (Considering the way people are now a days) but one cannot say that the early graphics of the PSX are not out dated and could use a polishing.

Look up the Japanese Sega Saturn version of the game. (Akumajo Dracula X Nocturne of Moonlight.) You can see Richter with that design in the game. (He appears this way during his boss fight and when you unlock him as a playable character.)
The dialogue changes is the sole reason I refuse to play the PSP version even though it's technically superior. The same thing applies to your mod.

For the Dracula dialogue, I'd probably prefer having some combination of the PSP/PS4 SotN dialogue and the PSP/PS4 Rondo of Blood ending. The ending to Rondo of Blood contains most of Dracula's speech from SotN, but it's more accurate to the original Japanese dialogue. The PSP SotN dialogue is just the PS1 translation but flowered up, so I never found much point to it. Of course, some stuff from the newer translation should probably be retained (such as Richter's opening line telling Dracula to die, as he doesn't say that in Rondo of Blood but the translation of that part in SotN is still accurate), which is why I suggest a combination of the two.
Interesting. Well, I don't have problem with starting area, even it have problems. Of course this fixes make it better. The main problem of SOTN is a balance of a whole game. You quickly became overpowered and second castle bosses become a joke(expect 2 of them). You collect big amount of weapons that quickly turn into trash and just stuck in your inventory
Few things... The "storm" is no longer a storm. It's a drizzle... The thunder to kick it off is nice. And making drac hard... is counter productive in isolation... as its a tutorial 'start up' fight, that you are graded to empower/weaken alucard. I hope enough is done to make it good all around. The overall changes to things dont seem bad. Just 'we wanted to make it hard.' Also, why didn't you show off losing in the remaster? Or was that not changed?
Hopefully this also improves the boss fights lmao, they were kinda "eh" in the first game. Some are pretty decent like the Doppleganger and Slogra/Gaibon, but most of them are kinda just walking back and forth and can get locked in one position if you spam items hard enough.
Does this hack include both exclusives(includes playable Maria, both exclusive rooms, bosses, and item/weapons) from PS1/PSX and Sega Saturn with smooth framerate?
Also one more thing three different dialogue Dubs included of a optional feature?

Olá. Me tire uma dúvida. Eu sempre acompanhei de início o trabalho de Esco, isso qdo ele planejava fazer para o PS1. Depois ele mudou de ideia e quis fazer para o PC em uma engine própria. Depois disso não o acompanho mais.
A dúvida é, o jogo é em iso para o PS1 ou para o PC? Valeu e e nóis.
All I know it everything is being remade in unity for PC only atm. So it’s not an iso rom hack
I don't like the updated castle in the openings, or the changes to Richter's moves and appearance. Also, why would you make the opening battle hard? It's kinda completely against the point for the intro to the game.

Unpopular opinion here but the PSP version stomps.the original dialogue. I played through the original game and was pleasantly surprised when I got it again on the and PSP.and cleaned up.the dialog. I know everyone loves "You steal men's souls and make them your slave" But come on, "Fight for them then, and die for their sins" is a great line. I applaud the developer of the remake for not letting nostalgia cloud his judgement.

Wow the cg cutscenes seem rough. It went from looking like early PS1 to early Dreamcast.
i think you made it too hard for something in the prologue but if you die you do become invincible so fair enough, and also seperating the item crashes and subweapons is a pretty bad change imo, you just made it way easier to just grab the hydro storm and the cross and just tear through draculas first phase for the casual players and a bit harder for the speedrunners who just grab the heart on the ledge and use hydro storm to beat dracula

man it is SOOOOO different , like holy shit ; i can see that whoever worked on the remake honestly tried to do their best and they even tried to 'improve/add' some additional animations that werent there previously , but overall the OG is WAY BETTER , SOTN is a true masterpiece , changing even just a single frame of animation or a few pixels really changes things a lot =/ ; and WHAT they changed the fucking PORTRAIT ART ?!?! , OH HELL NAH , AND THEY CHANGED THE VOICE LINES AND DIALOGUE , NO NO NO , im out XD this is cursed now ; TBF we will always have the OG , so im not against fan remakes and stuff like this , all art is derivative after all , but the OG SOTN IS a legit masterpiece and the fact that ppl are so inspired to make remakes like this and ofc that it and SM spawned the whole metroidvania genre and all of the amazing indie spinoffs [ie Hollow Knight, Valdis Story, Blasphemous, ESA, etc] is very telling indeed

Only watching the changes adding cooldowns to Ritchter skills make the game a lot harder than usual. The only issue who I see at moment is the areas where you need to jump a lot higher, mana seems to doesn't work correctly in these situations.
I tried the demo and It's way harder than the original game.
Some changes goods... Other neither so... But this Dragon of Dracula have be excellente! Very stronger! Makes me remeber the Dracula final version from Castlevania Legacy of the Darkness from nintendo 64: Super powerfull!
I still can't understand the want or need for cooldowns on Richter's abilites.
I believe you can shorter the cooldown if the game fully released, power progress i think
To make it more difficult and challenging. I really like it, makes you plan your every move if you want to survive.

OG voice acting was bad but had its charm. But this one's lines and sound effects for attacks is just bad, sounds like an anime fandub from the early 2000's. Would be great if they gave the option to keep the OG voices and effects
