I've been working with a wx 4100 for a while, and its been serving me well, so it's really nice to see these workstation cards get attention. They fill a very specific niche for me as a consumer. I've been considering buying a wx 5100 as well. Not to completely replace the wx 4100, rather I intend to use both of them in a single system, for both multi-monitor and computer tasks in programs like GIMP and Blender. I'm expecting these two cards to play nice with each other, and since they take so little power, I don't have to worry about upgrading my PSU.
I'm building a vm machine to host two gaming vms. i have a 3060ti for mine but my partner needs a single slot to make this work. i'm thinking for hers i go with a p4000 but then found this video. she plays timberborn, sims 4, ark survival and no mans sky. would this card be a worthwhile purchase for her? any idea on how it would perform compared to the p4000(gtx 1060ish)? or should i get the rx 6400 since it's around $150 like the wx5100? my motherboard has pcie 3.0 slots and since the rx 6400 is pcie 4.0 x8 i've heard that its not that great for a pcie3.0 x16 slot. thoughts? thanks for a great video.
I reviewed the RX 6400 on PCIe 3.0 if you want to check it out. Long story short for gaming the RX 6400 would still be faster than those options but if you have certain non-gaming workloads that use more memory then the additional memory of the other cards may be better. ruclips.net/video/QuuOK64CxWU/видео.html
I'm receiving mine next week and I was wondering, do you think swapping that small fan for a 92mm noctua would be something is worth it to give a try? I've done already mods for zotacs with a 3d printer and two noctuas... Thanksnfor the video and I'll try to copy the overclock settings!
@@LohTec Hi again! Finnally I got my tiny computer finished. I´ve used only second hand stuff and spare parts I had to build me a second computer "just for design" (wink wink). i5 (4440), 16gb and of course the radeon pro WX 5100. I´ve followed your tutorial step by step and I´m getting, for example, 60 fps in Apex legends with around 80 degrees with the stock fan. Surprisingly, using the noctua fan it is worse. The GPU is very well design and the shroud is very important to redirect the air through the small dispator. Thank you very much for these videos!
I have two of these. I did a vbios mod on one that raised the power limit and left one without any mod. For some reason, they both run at full power now when used on the same motherboard. Are you sure you need to do a vbios mod, or just need to patch the driver? The only difference i'm seeing now is from the memory clock increase on the modded one.
Hi mate, im about to get this card included into a workstation im gonna buy and i dont know if i can get in touch with you so i can set up this gpu like shown in the video...
Hi. I've just bought a second hand card for CAD work, the same as in the video, can someone please give me a link to ORIGINAL BIOS and provide step by step how to flush the BIOS, as I think the card has BIOS issues, because I can't install the drivers and it won't power on in UEFI mode either. Thank you!
@@LohTec Do I need to make any changes like in that Video or leave everything default? What settings should I put for better cooling, etc? may be higher clocks? surely would be better for CAD work as well. Stability is the most important though.
Just the flashing part. No need to edit the bios at all. That would put you in the same issue again. Also no need to patch the driver. If you want to edit the bios for better performance the UEFI will have the same issue
@@LohTec When I start the flashing tool it gives me this error and it doesn't start the Windows GUI, but the black screen only, like DOS mode stating - I wasn't able to find anything in google about it - I started the same file on another machine with Nvidia card and got exactly the same error - File: C:\ProgramData\AMDTools\Config\AMDPlatToolsConfig.xml not found.
Hi! I just pruchased one of this GPU and it doesnt´t work. The PC doesn´t start, but if I plug it on a different PC, it works... what do wyou think about that? Do you know if there is a kind od incommatibilitty with this GPU and some motherboards?
Sorry to just now be noticing this 9 months down the line, but yes, it's almost certainly a power issue in your particular case. Many more budget-oriented or SFF/OEM motherboards cannot supply 75W to the PCI-e slots. Often the limit is 25, 35, or 50W. A shame, and I wish it was a more transparently communicated spec that was easily determined. It's often incredibly difficult or downright impossible to clearly discern the power delivery limit of a particular board's PCIe slots. A fair rule of thumb is that if it's a kind of cheap OEM box, or low end motherboard (eg; H110, B320, whatever), it's much more likely to lack the 75W PCIe capability.
It's ok at that price now, but I bought an E9390 (which is the same) for $110 last month so it's a bit on the high side. For gaming you'd probably be better served with a RX 6400 at that price.

Been looking for this video for years. I’ve had one of these and been wondering what I can do with it.
Especially a few years ago it was a pretty great card if you needed something unde 75w and slim. A few other options now and these hold their value.
Great video

With the 7000 series workstation cards out now, you should do one with their single slot offerings.

Would definitely be a step up from the current fan, though obviously a sacrifice to the small size. May be better to get a RX 580/590 at that point.
@@LohTec let's see if I can design something to keep it under the two slots!

Possible the BIOS doesn't match and so it doesn't support secure boot.

No, cards based on RX 6000 series needed for that

1080p Medium should be fine
