Sometimes you just got to put time aside to talk with friends and family. And then spend special time with them too. Nice gift Kurt. Your son's eyes lighted up like a star on the Christmas tree. I am not one of those chirpy bird truckers in the morning. I guess more traditional trucker make a bowel of cereal and then depends if where I am at to make a pot of coffee or go inside truck stop. I don't like some truck stops coffee as tastes like crap. I normally do the grind a cup as the stuff made tastes like burned over done or some cleaner still present in the coffee pot...No thank you. Kurt I love the way you do your videos. Very little if any talking while riding. A channel or two (not naming any) talk the whole time they’re recording on the road. Listening to that cat roar when you’re driving is much more entertaining than jabber jabber jabber about stuff that half the time we can’t see happening in the video. Too bad all the little mom and pop greasy spoons are gone. They used to feed you good. Rinse and fill your thermos with good coffee for a couple bucks. I tried to drive at night and crash in the morning before the rush. So breakfast was my dinner. Omelette and SOS, hash browns, sausage or bacon, orange juice, and coffee for around $10 with a $3 tip. Shippers and receivers had driver lounges. Some factories would have cafeterias you could take advantage of. Different world today with on time delivery and hurry up and wait. Dispatchers that know nothing except what's on their screen.

It sounds like you have a finals problem with your radio. If you have had a short in your coax or antenna and tried to transmit it may have taken the finals out. The radio will still receive just fine but will only transmit at very low power, maybe enough to be heard by a truck sitting directly next to you. Before you install a new radio be sure to check your coax, the connectors and antenna. Keep trucking safely!
I think Moonbounce is correct, I was going to suggest the finals were blown. As he said, check all the coax and antenna before you hook up another radio, or you'll have two radios with problems. Safe trucking!
Your Stryker's problem is most likely in the mods. I have an old ('80's) HR2510 Uniden that for years worked perfectly until it received power mods (i.e: "tuned"). Finals blown, can't find a replacement match. Stay safe!
Oh yea. Midwest winters and the dirty EVERYTHING! The one thing I don't miss. Everything is nasty until May. Then its the flippin BUGS!!!! Keep on Truckin!

You might try getting a new coax for it sounds like it's in the antenna to me and make sure to get an SWR check on that
I remember in 1989 I had bought a hot 12V Short Wave Radio. I wired a 1000 Watt “ Heater “ Amplifier straight to the battery and hooked the Short Wave to the Heater. I remember turning it on in the Mountains of Eastern Tennessee. I kept switching channels until I had found two guys talking. One said he was in Charlotte, NC and the other was in San Diego. Both said they could hear me well.

Truckers who cook most of their meals in the truck live in the truck. They don't go home after a week. Most spend 300 + days a year on the road. My dad came home once a month to do laundry and check in with the family. He used to tell everyone that was how he stayed married..... LOL

Try a president cb radio, it has all the colors you want and they are pretty good, I have one in my crane to communicate with the pilot cars and the fm option is very clear.
I have been driving since 1984 I have never cooked a meal in the truck. I have a cook pot but never have used it. Stay safe

and do a walk around and I'm outta there. If I parked at a truck stop or near a little store, I would walk over and grab some
coffee, a soda, and usually something to munch on and then I was outta there...

I don’t really know anybody life live in Kansas. I worked out of Coralville Iowa for several years so I eat it I 80 truckstop was a frequent stop of mine going in and out of Iowa sometime. It was easy parking sometime. It was more difficult. Tuesday Wednesday is always a bad day Thursday Friday they’re heading home so they had plenty of room out theretruckstop have a great trip bud really like listening to you. Bring back a lot of memories.
Kurt, there used to be a CB shop in Council Bluffs, just north of Sapp Bros. I haven't lived in the area for about 5 years now, so I don't know if that shop is still there.. Also, I remember a guy sitting in Sapp Bros. parking lot in a converted RV or truck. Hope this helps you to get your Stryker fixed.
Have you tried swapping microphone on your cb. No deflection on the meter would indicate a lack of modulation. As mic’s are pretty much universal, swapping one from another unit would be a quick easy test
