I had surgery on both sides under my armpit with a removal on each side. The surgery gave me my life back!!

Hi there how are you now? I have just been diagnosed with VTOS after deteriorating severe pain in arm back chest and neck head. Found occlusion on arm movements and now looking at surgery options but horror stories scare me. Also have autonomic dysfunction im hoping will resolve once have surgery as for years i have been diagnosed with pots and autonmic dysfunction but nothing helped. Now this seems to be the cause.

Patients with neurogenic TOS should not be turned away. Yes these patients are more difficult cases, but eventually if all conservative measures fail then treatment can help. Many with with severe presentation of NTOS can go on to develop venous or arterial compression.

Do you have to have the first rib removed if you have venous TOS?

I train in Muay Thai and have very bad pain every time I touch my vein on my right arm whether it is close to my hand or on my armpit there is always a stabbing pain, it also hurts when I stretch it out straight. I noticed a little bruise on my armpit area where when I touch it hurts and feels tender. I really hope I don’t have this I’m not trying to get a blood clot in my lungs.
