The point of the animation was probably "What's an annoying situation everyone deals with? Who is the -best- suited to deal with that? What problems would they still encounter?" Getting rid of a fly. Shiva has eight flipping arms. Easy? No. That's where the comedy comes from. Shiva was chosen due to being a popular figure with 8 arms. Any godlike symbolism for the fly was added afterwards, probably, to give it a deeper meaning.

When I saw this the first time, I admit I was hurt. Lord Shiva is known as Jagathnath, which means father of the world. Since my father had left a long time ago, I looked up to Shiva as one - a father, a friend that helped me through depression and away from suicidal ideation, and the essence my very own soul (as taught in our religious books as well). To see such an inaccurate and hurtful (the finger up the butt and nose) depiction of one of his avatars, was really bad. Wouldn't you feel bad if you saw an animation made of your father sticking his fingers up his butt and doing things totally not him? Or would you be ok when everyone said 'It's just a short film you know!'? The hurt I was feeling is because of my connection and belief. Likewise, those that have similar feelings, are, of course, naturally bound to feel offended. Especially since the time Britishers invaded India, they have been degrading Hinduism in the cruellest ways. In the end I calmed down. Why? Because my religion teaches me tolerance and peace. It teaches me that everything is an illusion (Maya) and that when Lord Shiva saw this he didn't give a single damn. He is probably chilling with his weed and meditating. This was published so long back, why is this popping up in my recommendations now? Anyway I really liked the style of the animation and how the creator of this film portrayed the clash between a tiny fly and an all powerful God. But even so I understand the anger of all the Hindus in this comment section. I'm a Hindu too and I love and worship Lord Shiva (Natraj in this film). Our religion and culture is very old and we never strayed from our tradition. It's only natural that we feel offended. But I do like the concept and it was really funny. Just don't risk it with the religions. People get offended and it only diminishes the channel.

During such occasion, instead of giving thought to sort out the difficult situation wisely, but to loose composure and act wild sure leads to fall from grace . (The God should have cleverly left the fly for the spider to deal with, as shown at the end of the clip)
If you insult a Hindu god it means you are insulting the god of your own religion because all gods are the same and if you do not believe in god then you are insulting yourself by doing this .

When I saw this the first time, I admit I was hurt. Lord Shiva is known as Jagathnath, which means father of the world. Since my father had left a long time ago, I looked up to Shiva as one - a father, a friend that helped me through depression and away from suicidal ideation, and the essence my very own soul (as taught in our religious books as well). To see such an inaccurate and hurtful (the finger up the butt and nose) depiction of one of his avatars, was really bad. Wouldn't you feel bad if you saw an animation made of your father sticking his fingers up his butt and doing things totally not him? Or would you be ok when everyone said 'It's just a short film you know!'? The hurt I was feeling is because of my connection and belief. Likewise, those that have similar feelings, are, of course, naturally bound to feel offended. Especially since the time Britishers invaded India, they have been degrading Hinduism in the cruellest ways.
In the end I calmed down. Why? Because my religion teaches me tolerance and peace. It teaches me that everything is an illusion (Maya) and that when Lord Shiva saw this he didn't give a single damn. He is probably chilling with his weed and meditating. People will do what they want to do and say what they want to say. That's their life and their karma, which eventually always comes back.

The thing you people don't get about this video is that it's comedic. It could have been a representation of any religion's deity/god and it would have been amusing. Anyway I really liked the style of the animation and how the creator of this film portrayed the clash between a tiny fly and an all powerful God.
But even so I understand the anger of all the Hindus in this comment section. I'm a Hindu too and I love and worship Lord Shiva (Natraj in this film). Our religion and culture is very old and we never strayed from our tradition. It's only natural that we feel offended.
But I do like the concept and it was really funny. Just don't risk it with the religions. People get offended and it only diminishes the channel.

The film was good and has a really good rating too. It's just seems like the animator wasn't aware of the God he was trying to portray. According to this religion, that God over there is one of the members of The Holy Trinity (The three creators of this universe). And if you're making cartoons of someone such powerful (who has loyal followers), you're bound to get some angry heads criticize your work. And also if any of my fellow Hindus say that they wish the animator to be dead or dying, I apologies on their behalf. We really don't mean it to be true. People can be really nasty over the internet and I assure you if you ever come across a Hindu person in the outside world, they will be nothing but kind to you.

Also it has found solace/pleasure in visualising Him as one who is accessible and fits well to all possible human context. This is evident in the mythological story of Nataraj or Mahadev, in his gullibility gets himself in a dire situation by granting a boon to unworthy Bhasmasur, and Mohini has to trick the lusty Asur to death to extricate Mahadev.
Thus, in my opinion the Directors of this short film has made sincere effort to well present a great message told in the Bhagavthgeetha (Chapter 2 , Verse 63) through this imaginative story - God & the Fly. And it is -

स्मृतिभ्रंशाद् बुद्धिनाशो बुद्धिनाशात्प्रणश्यति
Petty and mischievous people or situation will always be there to pester God or his creation alike. During such occasion, instead of giving thought to sort out the difficult situation wisely, but to loose composure and act wild sure leads to fall from grace . (The God should have cleverly left the fly for the spider to deal with, as shown at the end of the clip)
If you insult a Hindu god it means you are insulting the god of your own religion because all gods are the same and if you do not believe in god then you are insulting yourself by doing this .
