Rainbow dash (as far as I know) is the only one to have done a sonic rainboom. Does that mean she's the strongest pony? No.
She is already way to powerfull she is the only pony to regularly break the 4th wall, and she is basicly more chaotic than discord
the "p" in the my little pony logo looking like a pony is so cool, such a missed opportunity for them to not keep it
Honestly would have loved if Twilight became a princess without being an Alicorn, it would have been a nice message to little girls (like myself at the time) that anyone can "be a princess" even if they weren't born or become a certain way, you can work for it.
i mean that's already how alicorns work, with the exception of flurry none of them were "born" that way, they were just regular ponies and had to work hard and earn it to become an alicorn
I think what it’s meant to represent is how twilight grows as a person (or pony in this case!)
I like Twilight Sparkle with wings. It suits her best.

The fact they have a trademark on the name Aurora is crappy. I know Disney has a Princess with that name but the copyright explains why I finding other characters with that name isn’t common. Uugh.
There’s even a G3 pony named Aurora Mist!
It’s worse because now they trademark FULL IN FAIRYTALES now…thats why specific fairy tails are avoided these days in a lot of projects :/

it doesn't make sense that a word like Aurora is copyrightable. there are many instances of the word being used for names of various things in different cultural works, like a spaceships game named Star Citizen having "Aurora" being the name for a small entry-level single-person spacecraft.

Pinkie Pie wears the "confetti contraption" while she's singing the invitation song in the beginning of Party of One, so it's not unused.

2:59 If I had to guess, this might have been a scrapped gag from the episode “Dragonshy”, where Rainbow Dash crashes into the other ponies with a bowling pin sound effect. The placement of the ponies in both sketches mirrors where they land in the final episode.

It still really sucks that those particular mlp episodes never saw the light of day, But at least it's something fun to speculate about because it makes you wonder "What Might've been?" And mlp isn't exactly the first tv series it be it animated or live action in history to have episodes that didn't make the cut.
It would be dope if a fan turned them into fan animations.
@@joshblackwell8632 Agreed, In fact imagine if they had done some storyboard art to go with the cancelled episodes, That would've been interesting especially since it would've helped the fandom envision what the cancelled episodes would've been like had they saw the light of day.
I feel like there are elements of them in existing episodes, like the spa one with rarity and AJ, the guard one makes me think a little bit of the S9 guidance councilor episode. And the ragtime one makes me think of friendship U
No wonder our fandom is still going. The source material could have been expounded upon a thousand fold! And by God, we're going to do it even if Hasbro won't!

2:40, 3:05, and 3:07 were all used in Return of Harmony part 1! I know the balloon guy and apple pile were used for Pinkie and AJ, and I THINK the “bread and butterfly” was used for Fluttershy
The butterflies that interacted with fluttershy were regular butterflies, they resembled her cutie mark (like all of the other discord illusions)
@@geirokkuii5707 Makes sense! I felt like I was misremembering something but wasn’t sure, they also had the bread and butterflies in the animated Alice in Wonderland, so that’s where I probably pulled that from!

It was always confirmed. Even with the kiss removed and more subtlety added to AJ and RD, fans still called it "the shipping episode". Trimming it down was done with forethought, but the ships were never removed.
Super fascinating. I often watch 'kids cartoons' and figure that one person had an idea, ran with it, and there's the show. Thanks to the dedicated fanbase of MLP we can see how much work, time, effort, discussion and changes are made to forge what the creators hope to be a hit. Let's not kid ourselves though, MLP FIM is lightening in a bottle. Even if they 'get the band back together', I don't believe they could match how special this series was and is. So glad we got 9 seasons of this

I geniunely love some of these concepts and wish some of them were made into the show. Like how alicorns came to be, and how there were more princesses than just Celestia, Luna, Twilight, Cadence, and Flurry Heart.
I wouldn't have minded more minor role Princesses. Two of them were just toys but I hoped until the end Goldlily and Sterling would be in the show. Ideally Celestia would be called Queen
Derpy being Dr. Hooves' sister wouild have been quite interesting. How much of a backlash do they really think theere could have been?
i get a little pinprick deep inside each time they say an outfit or design or asset went "unused" or "scrapped" when i can clearly remember where it was in the show (like the discord balloons and apple creature, for example)

The butterfly looks like a Bread and Butter-fly which might imply they planned on making an Alice and Wonderland themed episode.

56:30 you know what. I really like the concept of this one, or at least the fact that it does indeed bring up what happened between them. I feel like the story tends to ignore that. Maybe if they were rework each story we could of had both.
Okay so the cut ideas for season 9 intrigue me the most.
It seems like they had a more sympathetic idea for as to why Discord does what he does throughout the season, but they don't seem to have fully fleshed it out. This idea of "ascension" seems to have been completely forgotten about by the time the final two parter was being written (unless I missed something).
The whole elements of disharmony thing could have worked and the whole idea with Midnight Sparkle was somewhat interesting, but it ultimately falls flat. Maybe they could have gone at it from the angle that without harmony there is no magic or something? Therefore undoing the need for there to be an anti-magic element.
As much as I like the student six, having the elements get passed on to them would have been a weird choice. Despite me liking them, I feel like they did not get as much time needed to develop. All of the episodes focusing on them were with them as a group and there were very few episodes that focused on just one or two of them. We had a Smolder episode and a Yona episode in season 9 but that's about it. Imagine if we got more episodes like that in season 8 as opposed to stuff like "Non-compete Clause" and "The End in Friend"? Mini rant aside, the fact that the student six are not as fleshed out as they could have been would have made this passing down of the elements feel undeserved, as harsh as that sounds.
As for the whole idea with the Mane 6 becoming the literal embodiments of the Elements of Harmony, yeah the way it is explained is kind of silly. I guess they wanted to do something similar with the mega evolution style thing they did in the season 4 finale or just flat out bring it back. Either way, the whole "level up" thing just came off as very silly. These were just early ideas though so its understandable that there are some things that aren't fleshed out very well.
Some of the cut ideas for The Last Problem were really great but I can understand why they didn't make the cut. Still though, I feel like the thing with Sunset could have been worked in somehow but oh well. Despite being a cut idea I feel like this is as close to what we'll get in terms of an official conclusion for the EQG end of things. Wouldn't blame anyone for considering the stuff described there as canon.
Ultimately, I like what we got with season 9. Really my main issue was that the reasoning behind Discord being Grogar and doing what he does just felt really bad. It honestly nearly ruins him as a character for me. It felt like the writers had a hard time balancing his chaotic nature while also making him a sympathetic character (which makes me really bummed out about that cut episode where he finds a fan of his). All this is why I was really intrigued by the cut concepts for season 9. I can't say I like the proposed ideas better than what we actually got, because these concepts were never fully developed, so I can't really judge them in the same way as what was actually put on screen.
That being said I do wish something similar to what was proposed ended up being Discord's motivation for being Grogar. The cut idea was a step in the right direction but had a lot of ironing out and changes needed for it to work.
All that being said, this was a very great video going over all these scrapped materials and concepts. I can tell how much research went into making this and the previous cut concepts video. The behind the scenese content that has been leaked or drip-fed by staff is a major rabbit hole to go through and its nice seeing videos like these that cover it in detail!

You put a lot of effort into this video and it pays off. There were some intriguing ideas that its fun to speculate how they could have turned out but overall I'm happy with what we have. Some of those scrapped episodes were actually really interesting and I would have liked to see them (like the deer episode and the discord fan episode) although I am very glad they changed most of them (or rejected entirely) like the big mac and AJs friends episode, AJs mother episode, Twilights valentines day episode, the original rarity investigates, the original royal problem and many things from season 9.

I didn't expect to see a sequel video! Great job with this, that was a great watch! Just like last time, there was some stuff I knew here already but even more that I didn't know, which was cool! The stuff that was planned for season 8 and season 9 was definitely very interesting to hear, especially.

Personally, I like this ending more than what we got. It sounds much more climatic, but that's just a personal opinion.
Would have been nice to see the main six as kids and some of them already being friends but once they met Twi there friendship got even stronger

Or at least there is an extremely similar creature to that one in either the first or second part of the return of harmony. The ballons at 3:09 also appear in those episodes, but at pinkie's scene.
I was just watching all the discord episodes recently and the apple monster was DEFINITELY referenced and used in the episode where Big Mac proposes to his girlfriend
Excellent history. I hope in a future video, we’ll talk about the foreign dubs of MLP, and it gives you a little info on watch language that this show was dubbed, but it was shown around the world in over 50 languages. My favorites are the Spanish and Italian dubs.

I'm pretty sure the apple sketch and off-putting balloons could be related to the maze scene with discord and the mane 6 where often objects are taunting them, like apples and balloons with faces, I don't even think they're for a scratched episode considering the balloons and apples show up. It could just be the bowling pins and other weird stuff didn't make it.
Might explain the other weird sketches lol like twilight being a bowling pin.

I really wish we would would have gotten the Discord fan episode I feel like it would have been a fun and wacky episode that really went crazy with the chaos and the ending would have been delightful seeing that Discord made this all a test for his fan. I got to say thank you Tobby for this amazing video, I really learned a whole lot and enjoyed seeing what could have been and what ideas were thought up during the making of MLP!

I would like the changelings better and design them as kelpies or aren't they inspired by also both kelpie and horsefly since they resemble to both kelpie and horsefly, both the changelings and kelpie are fearsome mythical shapeshifting dark horse-like creatures and the concept of the changelings as horse-like insect creatures probably originates from the pun name "horse fly"?
Such a shame Hasbro had to come in and ruin Fame and Misfortune like that. Poor M.A. Larson.
