The fundamental basis of most of these reactions is they've been training for years, getting huge muscles, and this skinny guy shows up and lifts the weight effortlessly. That's what shocks them. That was just demonstration how far away that weight was from Anatoly's true max weight. I'm pretty sure he couldn't do that close to his own personal max.
