I definitely recommend getting a good winter jacket even if you drive a lot. You don't want to freeze if your car breaks down in the middle of winter. Alternatively, you can wear layers of clothes during extreme cold, even long johns or warm tights underneath pants. Also get warm gloves and thick scarf!
