I rode the Mine Ride at night. The vibrancy of the color blew my mind. I have never seen color so rich and vibrant, it was as pleasing to the eye as eating the best cooked steak is for your taste buds.
I'm so fascinated by the work that the Imagineers do at the Disney Parks. Watching the Dwarves jump from the page to the ride is fun to see. These videos give the fans an opportunity to see what happens behind the scenes, keep them coming!
Incredible work! The Imagineering Team just can't stop impressing us with their creative talent. These animatronics of the Seven Dwarfs look so real. I just hope one day that I will meet Imagineers in person, thank them for their dedication, and talk one-on-one with one of them to see how the magic works and to be part of this creative team. :)
I love the innovative use of combined technologies in the audio-animatronics to give full expression to the characters. The ride and the interactive queue look amazing.
DeadmanInc336 no its coming to Disneyland CA. Alice in Wonderland is already in rehab and will include the effects on the queen of hearts. Next will be Peter Pan
.... at first I could NOT tell... which parts were solid machine, which was CGI, and which was CGI animation projected onto a molded lighted screen! Then they explained it at the halfway point! Incredible work!
This is beyond awesomeness!! I bet in only a few years we won't be able to tell fantasy from reality and vice-versa. Those dwarfs are just too cute! Can't wait to enjoy that ride!
They all look really cool! I'm just trying to figure out how exactly the most recent audio animatronics have been created so their faces look almost digital. Are they using some sort of projection? Same with the cars on Radiator Springs Racers, right? It's so amazing.
My theory is that projections come from the inside of their faces, which are somehow made with a semi-transparent material that allows us to see what's being projected on the inside. :)
even though im really not a fan of the digitalization that certain rides in disney have now, i like the digital projection of the faces. Im a HUGE animatronic freak and much prefer all the animatronics, but the implementation of digtal projection REALLY brought out the expressiveness of the character that all animatronic technology just couldnt. So i hate it for purely nostalgic reasons, but i accept it because i see it is doing more good then harm.
I have been on 7 dwarfs mine train. And the animatronics are my favorite part they are absolutely amazing!!!! Disney is getting better and better. They used the same technology on Frozen ever after in Epcot. Olaf and Sven are so freaking cute I love the new technology. With how much Disney is doing to make all these great experiences we will always get more and more Disney magic coming our way.
WOW! their technology is Super Amazing!! I really love to watch videos of Imagineers at Work!! There is something I would like to comment. They should avoid too much darkness in the attraction rides. Because many of the imagineering detailed "hard work" will get disappeared into the dark.
AMAZING TECHNOLOGY! Now, the faces look "projected" like the singing busts and Madame Leota at HM. Or are they truly "moving skin" like the Presidents and Pirates?
You can see tell that the face is a projection due to the slightly faded colors, but it does produce a very nice effect. I can't wait to see this technique show up elsewhere. Maybe Shanghai Disneyland?
Do the figures have projectors inside their heads, or are the faces projected externally? I'm guessing the former purely because logic suggests the projection device would need to move in time with the head to maintain realism.
The officials say "Thrill level is between Goofy's Barnstormer and Big Thunder Mountain. So it's not really going to be intense at all. :) I hope this comment helps!
Walt Disney would definitely be proud of how much progress his work has gone through. "It takes more than one person to make a dream a reality."
I rode the Mine Ride at night. The vibrancy of the color blew my mind. I have never seen color so rich and vibrant, it was as pleasing to the eye as eating the best cooked steak is for your taste buds.
Omg the animatronics look so good!!
Walt is probably smiling from above. It's amazing what they're doing to bring such a cherished film to life. Can't wait!

Walt wouldn't be so proud at the fact that you guys are projecting the faces!
It seems the animatronics get better and better. Looks lifelike!

You had me at "Heigh-Ho!"
Not gonna lie. I hope this gets brought to Disneyland one day.
It is coming to Disneyland. All the Fantasyland attractions will have it by 2015.

You're thinking of Disneyland Shanghai.
DeadmanInc336 no its coming to Disneyland CA. Alice in Wonderland is already in rehab and will include the effects on the queen of hearts. Next will be Peter Pan

Are you sure? All I have been able to find only mentions Disneyland Shanghai. Can you refer a source or send me a link confirming such?
There's no space over there as it is.
This whole attraction is going to slay. Perfection.
.... at first I could NOT tell... which parts were solid machine, which was CGI, and which was CGI animation projected onto a molded lighted screen! Then they explained it at the halfway point! Incredible work!
they look A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! can't wait to see what the future of Disney holds with this new animatronic technology.
I hope Disney does another video for the new animatronics in Frozen Ever After.
I hope they don't make that ride at all.
Jolly Rancher Well too bad, it's opening in a few months.
I recently went to Disney world and got on this ride.
IT WAS AWESOME
They look wonderful. Things like this make me think of how proud Walt would be.
This is beyond awesomeness!! I bet in only a few years we won't be able to tell fantasy from reality and vice-versa. Those dwarfs are just too cute! Can't wait to enjoy that ride!
Love the dwarfs' shadows singing, as you go up the hill lift!
Thank you for posting this! I'm blown away by the advancements in technology that went into animating these characters.
David Bossert also worked on the Wild About Safety with Timon & Pumbaa: Safety Smart DVD series as an animation director and producer.

Maybe it's a screen like thing on the faces that allow them to make gestures like that.
That's what I heard that they used a sort of projection on the faces. Probably to get more facial expressions but it looks so amazing!

This ride was awesome, they did a fantastic job on it.
Amazing! I think Disney would have loved it. The expressions on the dwarfs are wonderful!
That looks so cool, I hope there is more than just one scene with the Dwarfs!
you do NOT get to experience this on the ride. This Video gives it WAY more justice! this is awesome; I'm excited to go back to Magic Kingdom (WDW).
Man, look at those facial expressions. That's nuts! I'm going there tomorrow so I'm totally riding this.

Just awesome ! Incredibles audio-animatronics !
We need more stuff through out all the arks like this. Imagine the new Frozen ride using this for Olaf. Would be simply fantastic!
It's amazing how life-like they are. Can't wait to see it in June and October!!
They look amazing!
This ride is going to be incredible...
OMG! Can't wait! I'll be back in Disney in Oct! So excited..

Now, let's talk about The Hatbox Ghost. :)
Karstens Creations
Love it.
Hear, hear!
Looks good. Can't wait to see it in person in 38 days.
These look amazing just like the one on RSR
Wow! They look almost life like!
The Audio Animatronics of the seven dwarfs in this combination roller coaster and dark ride have CGI animated faces projected on them.
I wish they did something like in pirates... Full faced animatronics, instead of a projection... Their faces glow, it's weird!
WOW,I hope their done with the project it takes so long for building awesome stuff like new fantasy land or thunder mountain that is just AMAZING!!!!
I have watched this so many times it's not funny. The technology blows my mind and it looks incredible!
Amazing!!!
So magical!!
Wow looks amazing! Can't wait to go back and try it out one day!!
HOW EXCITING!!! I cant wait for the ride!!
They really do look like they jumped off the screen. So so amazing.
WOW! their technology is Super Amazing!! I really love to watch videos of Imagineers at Work!! There is something I would like to comment. They should avoid too much darkness in the attraction rides. Because many of the imagineering detailed "hard work" will get disappeared into the dark.
Awesome, I want to go back to Disneyland already.
Err, this is Disney world.. Disneyland is in California, and Disney World is in florida. Hope this helps.
Those look INSANE! They're amazing! And encroaching on "uncanny valley" a bit, by being SO lifelike. I'm looking forward to seeing them in person!
AMAZING TECHNOLOGY! Now, the faces look "projected" like the singing busts and Madame Leota at HM. Or are they truly "moving skin" like the Presidents and Pirates?
I rode the ride and it is really fast and really cool
Great Job :>
My inner child and inner nerd is fighting over which is more excited over this work. It's our first Fast Pass+
Stunning!!! Wow!!!!!!
I would love to be an Imagineer!!! I would be so excited to go to work everyday!
IT'S MAGIC!
Can't wait to see! So awesome!
Man, I can not wait to see these in person. AMAZING work!
I can't wait to go on it
It looks so animated
Can't wait to see this! Amazing work!
Such amazing technology!
How are WDI projecting into the faces, do people think? It seriously looks like rear projection from inside the audio-animatronic!
holy frickity frack i love it
I wish I could see this!
You can see tell that the face is a projection due to the slightly faded colors, but it does produce a very nice effect. I can't wait to see this technique show up elsewhere. Maybe Shanghai Disneyland?
Definitely! This ride will be built in Shangai Disneyland as well. :)
Right, but I'm hoping for a totally unique experience. Maybe something like Mystic Manor or Pooh's Hunny Hunt.
Great job! Keep up the fantastic work
So cool!
I Wish gems and jewels emitted their own light source...that would be so awesome.
Wonderful.
wow!! Just wow!

Amazing.
Oh wow, this is amazing!!!!!!!!!!! the 5 year old in me got excited seeing this :')
This is amazing !
I KNEW IT OSWALD IS STILL ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
miniature back projection or high def molded LCD screen? any other guesses?
I wish you had done a ride for Return to Oz or maybe a ride for Hercules.
Creepy but also cool
How fast will this go? I'm not a huge roller coaster fan, but I really want to see the dwarfs.
The officials say "Thrill level is between Goofy's Barnstormer and Big Thunder Mountain. So it's not really going to be intense at all. :) I hope this comment helps!
amazing
Impressive!
Awesome :O
1:58 "50 years ago Walt debuted Audiomatronics." The diction on this guy.
what do they look like when they are offline? are the faces blank? are they screens? is the a rough outline of the features?
I'm only 12 but I'm studying computer animation like this so when I grow up I can do stuff like this at Disney World
Good for you.
"I'm only 12" :^)
:^)
Yeah, kid.
GUYS.... OSWALD PLUSHIE SIGHTED! 0:14
***** YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really wanna go to Disneyworld for our 8th grade trip! :(
0:58 that dopey tho
How would you be able to make animatronics move in Maya? Isn't Maya a 3D program?
0:12 Me plushy! :)
I have already seen this kind of animatronics but I can't remember in what other attractions they are, can someone tell me?
nice!
I wish they didn't use a screen for the face. I wish that actually had animatronic facial parts like the Navi in pandora land.
It would be magical if this part of the ride could be viewed by those who can't go on the ride like kids in wheelchairs.
Does someone know which music is playing at the begin of the video? After the intro...
This music sounds like Scribblenauts music.
