@@allison3852I don't. She's an upper-class snob who makes everything about herself. She also looks down on everyone who doesn't live like her. When one of the kids got him a football for his birthday, she said that football is an inappropriate use of free time.
I blame his mom because she's an upper-class snob and never lets Dylan be a kid. Just look at his birthday party or later in the movie. It was a classy social event and she even said playing ball was an inappropriate use of free time.
@@rorymckernan8502 makes sense, he was eavesdropping on the basement conversation by hanging from the laundry shoot. Of course what the parents were talking about wasn't their business.
I never like Dilens mom's character. Who want a parent like that, that doesn't let you do anything fun unless it's fun to them like math, chess, those "safe" games. 🐔is what her character is
There's a deleted scene where Dylan is playing football with Jake at his birthday party and his mom comes up to him and says "You're not being a good host" to which he replies "it's your party mom, not mine". Also, notice in the movie how there are a lot of adults at the party. So, she used her son's birthday as an excuse to rub how rich she is in the neighbours' faces.
Why do I feel like Dylan's mother had him mostly for the sake of appearances, being the picture perfect family, and she's still going to be overly controlling to keep up that image well into his adulthood
I'd personally rather have Matilda's parents than Dylan's mom. I prefer people who are deliberately bad than those who think they're good and true but don't realize how wrong they are. The Wormwoods are evil doers who know that what they're doing is wrong but don't care. They can be nice and smart at times, but being villains, are bad most of the film but they don't care what harm it's doing Matilda. Dylan's mother is a do-gooder who wants to be there for Dylan and not to have anything bad happen to him. She believes she's doing the right thing by coddling him but doesn't realize how much harm it could cause him. I've dealt with numerous do-gooders during my past because I have a disability and they were a pain for me to handle. Looking back, I'd rather deal with all my former school bullies than elder do-gooders. Evil doers seem more open about that they were wrong if you confront them with professionalism than do-gooders who only care that what they have to offer comes from a place of good intent and refuse to let it go.
Amber Medellin, Dylan is just a normal kid who wants to have fun. Except his mother is the one who prevents that from him, that’s why it makes him seem Dorky and all. But he loved the Baker’s family. Because that’s the family he wants to be apart of, without being controlled all the time.
After Dylan and Tom fall off the chandelier, Jake throws one of Dylan's shoes to his dad. However, in the next scene when you see his dad, he has both shoes even though Jake only threw one
Can't believe that Alan Ruck who played Cameron on Ferris is in this. He was the nicer parent out of the two, to make up for the bad parenting he received on Ferris. The mum is such a Karen.
I was always confused by the scene in which she refused to help find Mark, a 9-year-old boy. She rejecting them, and I plan: "Girl, it does not matter if his family is a big joke organizer, you have to going helps to find a 9-year-old boy who could be kidnapped, or in the worst case, Murdered!". From Hank, I expected it, but not from her. It is no surprise that in the Cheaper by the Dozen Wiki she is credited as the main villain.
@Nate Christensen That does not justify that she would have preferred to leave a child alone on a bus heading for nothing. She would be curmudgeon, but not bad person.
