You shouldn't even call it a "DLC sized mod" It's a full game. Arguably a bigger game than 4. The balance is a little wonk, but so is vanilla Fallout 4.
Its bigger then 4 and far harbour size wise. Quest wise and settlement wise theres a little less. But its a real rpg with choses . Were 4o4 is a nice looking shell of nv feature wise. This brings at back as much as i think they can
@@Byrvurra Balance in a singleplayer game is just as important as a multiplayer game if you want it to be satisfying. Like in London you'll find .32 ammo everywhere but if you want to use any other weapon you're always running out of ammo and they rarely make the damage values worth using the rarer ammo. Not to mention the bug that makes it so if you pick up a coaster that's supposed to buff your damage it actually cuts it in half. Or how your health is lower than it's supposed to be after the intro because of another bug.

people would rather cry about bethesda than play all the "real" crpgs out there. Why, because indie level graphics and isometric style engines don't dazzle them? I thought it was all about the story and roleplay..At least BG3 came out pretty well right? But I guess turn based combat doesn't hold your attention either. Even Outer Worlds wasn't good enough. You want all the trappings of an AAA blockbuster combined with the writing of indie CRPGs. I truly hope at least one studio comes along to fulfill this fantasy so you people can shut up.
@@groalerable Such a weird comment. You can like both, and Bethesda games were entirely different before FO3. The older fans have complained since 2006 that starting with Oblivion, the studio was dumbing the formula for the masses. Mods fixed this for many, but this further split the fanbase as console players would have to wait a very long time to get support. So you've got 3-4 different types of players, all asking for some similar things and some very different things. It's nuanced and while polarized the uniting factor is the Bethesda niche/community, and no BG3 or Outer Worlds will ever replace it. I know many who can't play New Vegas, but think FO4 is a masterpiece. It's almost like BGS has been around for decades and has fans from all ages and backgrounds...

Surreal vision looking at stars, shortly after someone messages me saying Jesus is looking at a telescope with you saying to you "everything I have is yours even the stars" another one I was in the bathroom asking God for a message for my friend Moses in Nigeria and as I'm leaving the bathroom i freeze in place and go into this bizarre trance like Peter in the book of acts and I see my friend Moses as a child playing with a toy firetruck and Jesus sitting next to him with love, I quickly tell them and they are in shock as they had just thrown away that toy that same day, another time I had gotten a word from God about someone close to me who hadn't accepted Jesus and that they had been praying to God secretly, I told them that and the look on their face was priceless as I had no idea they had been praying to God at all, they were shook 😄 this is only a handful of many a 100 times in just the last 12 months after 5 years of me being born again, there's so many more amazing things that have happened but you are beautiful and desired of God, he is a gentleman and will not force you to choose him or love him but he loves so so much, he's asking you if you will come, he will love you and cherish you everyday of your life, he will never abandon you, I beg you to take a chance and not reject God's love for you, he wants to heal you and you to enjoy a living relationship between you, God bless you so much, Jesus says to come to him for rest your weary soul he is humble and meek and tender and gentle, he loves you so much he knows everything about you, nothing about you is unimportant to him 😭❤❤ If you repent and call on his name you will be saved from hell and Jesus's wrath and judgement for all have sinned!! ❤ For God so loved The World that gave his only begotten son that whoever should believe in him will not perish but have eternal life!! 💙🙌🏻 repent all have sinned and fallen short!!❤️🔥❤♥️ ✝️✝️❤️✝️
I feel like part of the reason Bethesda doesn't acknowledge London is because they don't want to draw attention to a free mod by a group of independent modders that does Fallout better than an entire company of "professional" game developers.
Funny that CDPR has done more for Bethesda's modding scene here than Bethesda has. In fact, all Bethesda did for Team FOLON was screw them over with the next gen update. CDPR is hosting the mod, downgraded the GOG storefront version of the game for easy compatibility, helped create an automated installer for the mod, and then advertised the mod on all their official channels and made it the featured game on their storefront. It's wild.

I think they didn't downgrade it. I think it's the same like other games, where they let you choose the version/patch you want to play on. And here they chose the best patch for you. But it should be possible to change the version to a newer patch, even if it wouldn't be the smart chioce.

New Vegas is in the show. New Vegas is getting it's own expansion in the TTRPG. New Vegas cosmetics in 76. New Vegas characters in Wasteland Warfare. Etc. What makes any of you think they're reluctant to acknowledge New Vegas? It gets a shed load of acknowledgement. As much as Oblivion over in the Elder Scrolls. More than Morrowind tends to get even and certainly more than Arena, Daggerfall, FO1 or FO2. Hell, New Vegas is getting more attention than FO3 at this point too.

Tod Howard repeatedly told us that lore was meaningless because player won't even read it, that good story is meaningless because players don't care and skip the dialogs, and that anything the players want is a fun game doing fun stuff. That's the idea behind F76 and Starfield. Fallout London sets a whole new fallout world with a consistent lore, plenty of stories to tell and dialogs to hear, choices, factions, stakes and consequences. It's a massive middle finger to Bethesa and Tod Howard.
Is this case why Fallout 4 is so full of things to read ? They can save money on writers without it. People writing all the things you can read in terminals deserve more respect than Todd himself x)
Fallout needs to be given to a new studio ASAP. Bethesda can't even tell a decent story, create decent characters or make a competent game anymore. Modders are running circles around them, let alone a developer like CDPR which is like a Professional sports team vs a little league team in Bethesda.

It's the difference between simply being paid to do something and having a passionate desire to see it through. It wouldn't surprise me if they simply never bothered with ladders or drivable vehicles after a few times of testing it because it would've cut too much into their development time.

After trying for 9 years to get into fallout 4 it finally clicked a month ago and I beat it last night and while I love the game play, specifically the gun customization and gun play later in the game.. the story is just awful.
Agreed ive put in 20+ hours so far with 90+ mods . I stopped playing starfield after 18 with 3 mods. Plan on putting in 100s of hours. Better then fo3 and fo4 in my mind . Some will not think so but truly have enjoyed
I legitimately don't understand it. There's absolutely nothing redeeming about the creation engine aside from the fact that it supports modding. It's atrociously dated technology. Considering the backbone selling point of BGS games is community modding, you'd think they'd want to acknowledge those folks.

@@FluxCrush not to the extent that the creation engine allows assets to be easily deployed at runtime. A lot of the “pre-baked” game engines require complicated asi loaders and injectors that are frankly ghetto af and really doesn’t count imo. It’s a massive difference compared to dropping a loose dds texture into a folder and having it show up in game. Another big difference is that engines like creation make adding content possible instead of modifying/tweaking existing assets. Not to mention it’s one of the only engines that easily integrates with a fully fleshed mod tool. Redengine and Divinity are the only other major engines by well known studios that comes to mind.
When skyrim is its own engine and can have completely other games in skyrim you can have a simulator and other stuff it just shows they can make stuff using the same exact engine and purposely destroy it by updating
I can add color as an IP lawyer who deals with this everyday. It is not a mandate to sue for every infringement ever found or there is a loss of TM rights. Some companies are very litigious like Nintendo but not everyone is. Even if it was true, Bethesda could just give a one time non-commercial license (which any IP lawyer can put out in half an hour) to the modders, which would take care of this issue.

No, the onus isn't on a trademark owner to seek out and find every case of infringement. That is such a batsh*t insane excuse. Bethesda has already acknowledged, and promoted full-fledged mods, modpacks that have their own websites, and installers. The reason there is a blackout on acknowledging Fallout London, is because they don't want to promote it - that's it. You can infer the reasons WHY they dont want to promote it, but they know it exists, they knows its really good, which is why they hired developers RIGHT from the mod project itself.

Agreed, the mod is free and requires the purchase of the original game to work, so a legal case here would be considered pretty frivolous. Also, when you consider the heads-up that BGS gave to the Skyrim Script Extender team before dropping Anniversary Edition, it’s an even more blatant snub to the Fallout London Team.

I find the arguments that we can't have a fallout game in another country because its an American studio, that it would be in poor taste, or that that culture would be to different to be lazy arguments. 1. Ghost of tsushima great not made by a Japanese studio. 2. The metro series 3.the fear of nuclear annihilation was a global event and countries like the ussr had fallout shelters. But other countries cultural response aren't remember as much so would require more research
Id say the reason is they wont understand the local areas or customs to make something out of. Being locals to DC and Boston like Bethesda are why they were able to build up the worldspace as well as they did. Josh sawyer drove a couple days to gather references for the wilderness for NV. So it was relatively close to their studio.

The other reason they aren't gonna do Germany is that Germany has a strong aversion to N*z* imagery; and that would 100% be needed in a Fallout Germany game.
Now remember Luke the last time they outsourced fallout we got new Vegas from the original creators. Makes sense why they won't allow anyone else to make a fallout game, BGS really has no idea what they are doing anymore.
They honestly never really did. Its been the same downhill of design philosophy since Morrowind, or even Daggerfall technically. Skyrim was a one off but it was a total accident that the game was remembered as great as it was.

When there's no legitimate reason not to play the game exactly the same way, with the same stealth archer build, every single time - that is an empty experience, you coping about all the time you invested into it doesn't change that they haven't had an original idea since Shivering Isles in Oblivion.

I stopped following alot of the fallout/elderscrolls/bethesda content creators because they're very brown nosey Fallout londons story in the first half an hour is already better than everything combined in fallout 4s main game BGS is kinda dying in the eyes of the fans. And I would love to see xbox hire a bunch of non Americans for a fallout series. I do believe Bethesda will have to have es6 and fo5 flop before xbox have any control over fallout or elderscrolls, probably signed a contract protecting them until Todd dies or something

I think this can be explained very easily. On one hand you have passionate modders that have time and motivation, on the other hand you have overworked, time crunched workers for a paycheck that take corporate direction and can express no passion. That is why modded game versions feel better.

You CAN just trademark Bibble-boop. After the application process, its yours. If the fans make enough fuss about it, Bethesda might change their minds later on.
as a studio that likes to tout how "modder friendly" they are, its a big red flag that BGS isn't even acknowledging FOL. I haven't really like BGS ever since FO4, and I have 0 hope for ES6.
@@thatroykid they are indisputably the most mod friendly studio there is. Very few studios provide mod tools for their games, and of these very few none come even close to the creation kit in terms of capability. Their games are also made on an engine built around being modifiable, it's much easier to make a game, or game engine, that's hard to modify, the levels of modability of the creation engine takes time, effort, and money that they could spend on other things. So while fallout London is extremely impressive, this kind of mod simply does not get made for any other company's games, because no other company puts this much effort in enabling the community to make mods for their games.

It´s not "a" mod. It´s a total conversion, technical a huge mode collection that are all interconnected together that totally change the game it get´s put over. And yes, it´s great. And yes, Fallout 4 is now stuck between New Vegas that came before it and Fallout London that came after it. And it makes look Bethesda and Fallout 4 (as well as 76) really .... flat. For bethesda fallout is running around in a power armor, minigunning everything down, having the brotherhood, vault boy and stupid supermutants. But that´s not the core of fallout and was never be, that´s just set dressing. Fallout is a specific type of rp gameplay, about how the world interacts with the player and the player can interact and change the world. Join a faction, betray a faction destroy a faction or simply be a faction on your own. Quests that again change how the world interacts with you, rough conversations about how to help or to get rid of the others. Bethesda never understood fallout.
You are not reading too much into it. Bethesda's lack of support, appreciation, or just acknowledgement in any way, shape or form, IS FUCKING WEIRD. I didn't even work on this game or anything, just enjoying it so very much that I'm offended as a fan at their lack of... well everything here recently, but especially their lack of acknowledgement to Fallout London and the tremendous and historic feat of THEIR modding community that it is.

I still think BSG is making a mistake by never leaving the US. Most games should be in the US, but they should also try some different things once in awhile. It would be so cool to see a retro-futuristic England/Germany/Japan.
i feel people miss a point important... Fallout 4 is almost 9 years old. London, was build on Fallout 4 engine, they have added model and such, but in the end... it's something that did come almost 9 years after fallout 4 even fallout 76 (that is not made by bethesda) did come out in 2018. then i hope london is better and do better than what was made soo far away.
One of the best things about it to me is that it's *genuinely* a challenge. The whole economy of the game, and the scarcity of all vital resources; ammo, health, armour all makes it much more engaging on a level that forces you to actually be mindful of what and how much you're using. Well, that and the Dr. Who easter eggs lol
Without the modding community BGS would have gone away a long time ago. They simply sell everyone an engine with a simply tech demo and let the modders do the leg work. Brilliant business plan that’s why MS bought them and they’re not charging the engine.
Me too. I am unsure the ES game will be success. Sure it will sell like gangbusters on launch based on the hype but it could falter once people started playing it like Starfield did.
Is amazing how fallout fans are "feeling left out" by bethesda when just got a show, a multiplayer game, and fallout 4 came out 2015. And new vegas in 2012. ES fans got skyrim in 2012 and oblivion in like 2007. ESO doesnt count cause is just not the same.
I like FOLON, but the game is even buggier than a BGS game at launch. I've encountered broken Dialogue more than a handful of times. And don't get me started on finding that damn Keycard.....

To be fair you can't really compare these though. Bugthedsa has time limits on what they can do. They only have so much time. While the people who did this mod can take as long as they want... It looks fun but if it isn't Canon in the actual universe I don't care that much.

Only way Fallout leaves a U.S theme is in a DLC. Visiting a Pacific island that was under Chinese Occupation could work really well. Plus, it allows them to actually characterize the other side of the setting's most critical moment. You get wacky Chinese culture in the DLC, and wacky American culture in the base-game.

Its not weird at all. Plenty of gamedevs set their games in other countries, even destroyed versions of them, and its totally fine. The reason bethesda couldn't pull it off is simply because, 1. Ofc there not going to aknowledging it they can't even say a good thing about New Vegas when there asked about it. It's the result of "modders will fix it" mentality. Bethesda after every release of a Fallout or TES as always less and less feature, less freedom, less true rpg choice and mechanic. They are linear action adventure with more linear quest on the side. It's laziness and missmanagement at it's finest. 100 devs full time at bethesda taking 7 years to release my least favorite Fallout game (Played all of em, 4 has no soul imo) Vs 100 part time hobbyhist taking 5 years to do something original and refreshing for the franchise (maybe it has less content overhaul IDK IDC). OFC they're behaving like it doesn't exist.
With the trademark thing though, Bethesda has mentioned Elder Scrolls projects before, they've even talked about Skyblivion, why are they indifferent to Fallout London?

It's a mod. And they're not selling it. It's free. They have people's mods in their games all the time. Acknowledging this particular one cannot possibly create some copyright situation where they have to enforce it.
I agree. Todd.Bethesda could only stop someone based on oh maybe the voice acting. If you recall, a team was remaking Fallout 3 planned to just reuse the voice actors voices already in the game and were told they couldn't because that would violate the rights of the vas to compensation so they were going to have to rerecord the dialogues with their own fan voice actors but I don't know if that project is still viable.
It's actually because Bethesda only has the rights to those voice lines for fallout 3, they cannot grant those to anyone else even for a mod. Bethesda saying people can use them would open them up to lawsuits by the voice actors who worked on fallout 3.@@ANGRYWOLVERINE2060-ft2nc
Also from what I've heard in relation to skyblivion (they are also redoing all the voice lines) Bethesda never explicitly told them they couldn't use the voice lines, just that they couldn't give permission as they didn't own the rights, and so the skyblivion team (and I'm guessing the same with the fallout 3 remake) could potentially open themselves up to being sued by the voice actors if they used the voice line, so they obviously decided not to. The reason this isn't really an issue with smaller mods that reuse voice lines is that most of the time they are being used in the same game that those lines "shipped with" and smaller mods wouldn't get the same kind of outside awareness that a big mod like skyblivion would get.
It seems like the community has unrealistic expectations of Bethesda when it comes to this mod. People were upset that Bethesda gave their next gen update without giving the mod creators a heads up, but it doesn't make sense to expect that a fan's passion project requires moderation or communication with the company. The frustrations around it make sense, but it's not really a Bethesda issue. The breaking of the game separate from any mods is the Bethesda issue. When it comes to a social media call out now, why would they? What business sense would it make to help advertise a mod that requires a bunch of manual edits to the game, isn't something they will provide support for, and isn't available on all of the platforms their game is available on? If there's a history of "Mod of the week" type spotlights I'm not aware of, I'm happy to be wrong about this.
The same reason they promote modders to come and fix their games. Or why they milked skyrim knowing its not really Skyrim being sold, its the mods that add to the base experience. Mods are what make bethesda, so shouting out a large historical mod like Fallout London DOES make sense.
@@PoloMoney The Skyrim piece I definitely don't agree with. They were selling enhancements to Skyrim with a target demographic of console players that didn't have access to mods or play vanilla. Each release coincided directly with new hardware, and many were console specific. I'd be curious to know what % of players use mods, because I kind of doubt it's the majority. It's a very passionate group of dedicated players, but by sales numbers I'm guessing there's significantly more vanilla casuals. I'm sure as the game ages it leans more towards mods but I doubt it breaks 50%. For the shout out, I just really don't think you'd ever get a company putting their "blessing" on a fan made project that isn't supported on any official version of the game and requires other Mods for it to run well/at all. They'd almost need to provide a tutorial for installs in the post, and they would be taking on some liability for the provided instructions and the mod itself if it were malicious, or ever became malicious. (Which by all indicators, it isn't). If they were able to provide it in their Creations program, you'd probably see a shout out post because they have a chance to review final versions before they go live, and the ability to take it down if there was a bad change. Fallout London deserves a lot of praise, and the community is providing that praise. I just wouldn't take a lack of an official statement on it by the company Bethesda to mean the people who work there have any ill will towards the mod.
Bethesda does claim at times to be "Modder friendly" and are definitely aware that modding is associated with them. Hell you can even look at their own official website and find pages on skyrim and fallout with mods. Of course they had to do it the Bethesda way and monetize those same mods so, I guess they are only mod friendly if it gives em money.
I mean we already knew this Hello games can make a more emersive open Universe game with an employee count just above 50 days or even CD project red and all three companys had disaster launches and out of the 3 of them its Bethesda that has refused to fix starfiled
While everybody is busy s******* on Bethesda with every every fiber of their being, remember if they were jerks they could shut this down with a snap of their fingers. 999 out of a thousand companies would have put this on ice before the wider public even heard of it. Not a fanboy but I do appreciate them more than the average guy I guess.
Props to people if they can make a game feel better than the original but until I see these guys build a game from the ground up, then popularize it, they don’t come close to the bethesda devs. Don’t disrespect to that degree ppl
A mod for Fallout using the name Fallout is not a trademark infringement unless they sell it. The reasons many big emulators were in a grey zone is because while they weren't sold they were still locked behind Patreons and stuff
Kinda liked the update. Ran fine, bunch of creation club stuff I didn't have became free, and enjoyed their little enclave quest. Sad that it broke some mods, but all of mine were fine. Worst I can say is that it fills up your quest-log the moment you leave the vault, which suck if it's your first time... but FoNV did that too with their dlc.
Xbox needs to start breaking up their valuable IP. Consumers are *not* willing to wait a decade for *mediocre* products. They *will* move on. Where is your ROI exactly? In Todd Howard ?? Do not think so. Bethesda needs new talent at the minimum
I don't think Fallout London makes Bethesda look bad. I think it makes them look GOOD. They spent years developing the tools to make these games, and then make them available to modders (at no fee) to make free content for other players. A mod like this show where A GROUP of gamers want Bethesda to go. It doesn't show what direction grows and makes their company strong, which then allows them to repeat the process. I love great mods, which wouldn't be possible without Bethesda.
I don’t think it’s weird that Bethesda isn’t acknowledging London, i think it makes total sense. Why would they want to drive players away from Fallout 76 where they’re spending money on MTXs and driving up playtime on GamePass to instead go play a free mod for one of their old games. Especially a mod that rivals their own games in quality.

Its a game, period. I have 38 hours logged and haven't even cured my lab rat status Effect. I'm just out here participating in gang wars, doing random side quests, beefing up Covent Gardens, and exploring random locations. This is a game that just so happens to be called a mod.
Its really not weird, Bethesda knows that they can no longer produce quality content at a reasonable pace so of course they are going to recent modders creating a superior experience.

If we judge it by release date standards, Morrowind is a masterpiece of a game and still their best RPG so far. Rather than Fallout 3 or another 50 versions of Skyrim I wished that was the one they remade with the current engine.
They have hired FOLON people so they know. They no doubt know about Fallout London's success. But they won't say anything. They fear any success of a Fallout made by anyone else.

Exactly, they did good work using the platform Bethesda created and allowed them to use. If anything it looks good on Bethesda because without them all these big projects simply wouldn’t be possible. Like most companies don’t allow modding to this extent.
i think BGS knew what they did with that update.. Gatekept a bunch of people from playing a gem (edit) i don't advise any company or publisher to release a game a month before GTA6 releases and 6 months after release
Bethesda should have put this as a Fallout 4 DLC, then the hard working developers who devoted years could be paid. Also the installation could be easier and be more popular to the wider audience then the modding community.
Coming from a Brit, I fully agree that Fallout is a US cultural product. That's where it's heart and soul is, and that's where it will always be. We do have a Fallout Universe outside of the US, though. Baked in as part of the Fallout construct itself so any attempts to represent it are perfectly valid as there is no canon outside of the US and can never be without either a nod from Bethesda or canon directly ceated by Bethesda. Valid is a completely separate issue from good and bad though. Thankfully, in the case of Fallout London, it's most definitely the former.
And the NV dlcs stuff that has come out. Beth can't do anything about Fallout London other than maybe ask them to change the name. They can't shut it down based on their past approach to other fan projects.
Idk this isn’t what makes them look bad, there are thousands of mods so honestly this was the next step for modders so I wouldn’t say it makes them look any worst then they already do

I think Germany or Japan would be the best options besides the U.S. post ww2 there would definitely be Americana in those places. Maybe in the fallout universe we colonized Japan after ww2. Or the Berlin wall never fell so there would still be a big American presence there. So fast forward to 2077 what would those places look like if we never left. Not sure if there is any lore that says otherwise.

You shouldn't even call it a "DLC sized mod" It's a full game. Arguably a bigger game than 4. The balance is a little wonk, but so is vanilla Fallout 4.
Its bigger then 4 and far harbour size wise. Quest wise and settlement wise theres a little less. But its a real rpg with choses . Were 4o4 is a nice looking shell of nv feature wise. This brings at back as much as i think they can

@@Byrvurra Balance in a singleplayer game is just as important as a multiplayer game if you want it to be satisfying. Like in London you'll find .32 ammo everywhere but if you want to use any other weapon you're always running out of ammo and they rarely make the damage values worth using the rarer ammo. Not to mention the bug that makes it so if you pick up a coaster that's supposed to buff your damage it actually cuts it in half. Or how your health is lower than it's supposed to be after the intro because of another bug.
Seriously, every time someone calls it DLC-sized, it pisses me off. What are you comparing it to, Blood and Wine? Because this is still at least twice as big.

I thought it was all about the story and roleplay..At least BG3 came out pretty well right? But I guess turn based combat doesn't hold your attention either. Even Outer Worlds wasn't good enough. You want all the trappings of an AAA blockbuster combined with the writing of indie CRPGs. I truly hope at least one studio comes along to fulfill this fantasy so you people can shut up.
@@groalerable Such a weird comment. You can like both, and Bethesda games were entirely different before FO3. The older fans have complained since 2006 that starting with Oblivion, the studio was dumbing the formula for the masses. Mods fixed this for many, but this further split the fanbase as console players would have to wait a very long time to get support. So you've got 3-4 different types of players, all asking for some similar things and some very different things. It's nuanced and while polarized the uniting factor is the Bethesda niche/community, and no BG3 or Outer Worlds will ever replace it. I know many who can't play New Vegas, but think FO4 is a masterpiece. It's almost like BGS has been around for decades and has fans from all ages and backgrounds...

A couple hours later someone contacts me and they say "Yes Jesus is saying yes he is your buddy" another time was I obsessing a little over this blue suit and someone prophecies "I see you in this blue suit" etc, another time I was testing this whole thing and I'm about to be prophecied over and I have my Google notes out I had tried writing out a little story and it was about a fire and forest being burnt down and I ask God to confirm if he wants me to write this and sort of as a test because everything had been scary accurate and the person right after says "God wants you to be his little stick lit ablaze with his love, it may not seem like much but one small flame can burn down a whole forest" 😂 another one was I had this. Surreal vision looking at stars, shortly after someone messages me saying Jesus is looking at a telescope with you saying to you "everything I have is yours even the stars" another one I was in the bathroom asking God for a message for my friend Moses in Nigeria and as I'm leaving the bathroom i freeze in place and go into this bizarre trance like Peter in the book of acts and I see my friend Moses as a child playing with a toy firetruck and Jesus sitting next to him with love, I quickly tell them and they are in shock as they had just thrown away that toy that same day, another time I had gotten a word from God about someone close to me who hadn't accepted Jesus and that they had been praying to God secretly, I told them that and the look on their face was priceless as I had no idea they had been praying to God at all, they were shook 😄 this is only a handful of many a 100 times in just the last 12 months after 5 years of me being born again, there's so many more amazing things that have happened but you are beautiful and desired of God, he is a gentleman and will not force you to choose him or love him but he loves so so much, he's asking you if you will come, he will love you and cherish you everyday of your life, he will never abandon you, I beg you to take a chance and not reject God's love for you, he wants to heal you and you to enjoy a living relationship between you, God bless you so much, Jesus says to come to him for rest your weary soul he is humble and meek and tender and gentle, he loves you so much he knows everything about you, nothing about you is unimportant to him 😭❤❤ If you repent and call on his name you will be saved from hell and Jesus's wrath and judgement for all have sinned!! ❤ For God so loved The World that gave his only begotten son that whoever should believe in him will not perish but have eternal life!! 💙🙌🏻 repent all have sinned and fallen short!!❤️🔥❤♥️

I feel like part of the reason Bethesda doesn't acknowledge London is because they don't want to draw attention to a free mod by a group of independent modders that does Fallout better than an entire company of "professional" game developers.

Funny that CDPR has done more for Bethesda's modding scene here than Bethesda has. In fact, all Bethesda did for Team FOLON was screw them over with the next gen update. CDPR is hosting the mod, downgraded the GOG storefront version of the game for easy compatibility, helped create an automated installer for the mod, and then advertised the mod on all their official channels and made it the featured game on their storefront. It's wild.
I assume Todd can't be happy with GOG and CDPR.

I think they didn't downgrade it. I think it's the same like other games, where they let you choose the version/patch you want to play on. And here they chose the best patch for you. But it should be possible to change the version to a newer patch, even if it wouldn't be the smart chioce.

Tod Howard repeatedly told us that lore was meaningless because player won't even read it, that good story is meaningless because players don't care and skip the dialogs, and that anything the players want is a fun game doing fun stuff. That's the idea behind F76 and Starfield.
Fallout London sets a whole new fallout world with a consistent lore, plenty of stories to tell and dialogs to hear, choices, factions, stakes and consequences. It's a massive middle finger to Bethesa and Tod Howard.

I legitimately don't understand it. There's absolutely nothing redeeming about the creation engine aside from the fact that it supports modding. It's atrociously dated technology. Considering the backbone selling point of BGS games is community modding, you'd think they'd want to acknowledge those folks.

@@FluxCrush not to the extent that the creation engine allows assets to be easily deployed at runtime. A lot of the “pre-baked” game engines require complicated asi loaders and injectors that are frankly ghetto af and really doesn’t count imo. It’s a massive difference compared to dropping a loose dds texture into a folder and having it show up in game. Another big difference is that engines like creation make adding content possible instead of modifying/tweaking existing assets.
Not to mention it’s one of the only engines that easily integrates with a fully fleshed mod tool. Redengine and Divinity are the only other major engines by well known studios that comes to mind.

I can add color as an IP lawyer who deals with this everyday. It is not a mandate to sue for every infringement ever found or there is a loss of TM rights. Some companies are very litigious like Nintendo but not everyone is. Even if it was true, Bethesda could just give a one time non-commercial license (which any IP lawyer can put out in half an hour) to the modders, which would take care of this issue.

No, the onus isn't on a trademark owner to seek out and find every case of infringement. That is such a batsh*t insane excuse. The reason there is a blackout on acknowledging Fallout London, is because they don't want to promote it - that's it. You can infer the reasons WHY they dont want to promote it, but they know it exists, they knows its really good, which is why they hired developers RIGHT from the mod project itself.

I find the arguments that we can't have a fallout game in another country because its an American studio, that it would be in poor taste, or that that culture would be to different to be lazy arguments.

So it was relatively close to their studio.

They honestly never really did. Its been the same downhill of design philosophy since Morrowind, or even Daggerfall technically. Skyrim was a one off but it was a total accident that the game was remembered as great as it was.

You do not have a legal duty to have an omnipresence knowledge of everyone, everywhere, who now infringes on your trademark. You can Trademark Beebleboop, you can trademark a sound that PLAYS with bibble-boop, the colour thats used, the FONT that's used, if its all part of what defines bibble-boop as a brand. Your only responsibility is renewing it, so it doesn't expire, and actually use it in business / commerce. Which can be as basic as having an online website with the words Beeble-boop on it. That's it. Defending trademark use is not a requirement of having it or renewing it.
What Luke is referencing here, is when you're actually going through a legal case in trying to enforce your trademark, the defendants may show multiple cases of you never enforcing the trademark in the past, with other, BIGGER infringement, labeling your current case as vexatious in hopes of throwing it out in summary judgement. These rarely work in trademark disputes. They do try though.

Don't let "journalist" like Danny Odwyer - an industry shill, try to make up BS to defend Bethesda. Bethesda has a long history of acknowledging and promoting their modding scene. Like the mod club and Nexus already exist. Skyrim Nolvus exists, Skyrim mod packs, with their own websites and separate installers, exist.
Bethesda have acknowledged ambitious full-sized mods like this in the past, and encouraged it. Furthermore, the higher ups at Bethesda studios (im just guessing here, and totally don't know this for sure...) sent down an internal memo, telling employees to **** about it in any official capacity in media posts "until further notice, or updates, as our framing and relationship with the modders may change in the future, bla bla bla".
If the fans make enough fuss about it, Bethesda might change their minds later on.
as a studio that likes to tout how "modder friendly" they are, its a big red flag that BGS isn't even acknowledging FOL. I haven't really like BGS ever since FO4, and I have 0 hope for ES6.

Very few studios provide mod tools for their games, and of these very few none come even close to the creation kit in terms of capability. Their games are also made on an engine built around being modifiable, it's much easier to make a game, or game engine, that's hard to modify, the levels of modability of the creation engine takes time, effort, and money that they could spend on other things. So while fallout London is extremely impressive, this kind of mod simply does not get made for any other company's games, because no other company puts this much effort in enabling the community to make mods for their games.

It´s not "a" mod. It´s a total conversion, technical a huge mode collection that are all interconnected together that totally change the game it get´s put over.
And yes, it´s great. And yes, Fallout 4 is now stuck between New Vegas that came before it and Fallout London that came after it. And it makes look Bethesda and Fallout 4 (as well as 76) really .... flat.
For bethesda fallout is running around in a power armor, minigunning everything down, having the brotherhood, vault boy and stupid supermutants. But that´s not the core of fallout and was never be, that´s just set dressing. Fallout is a specific type of rp gameplay, about how the world interacts with the player and the player can interact and change the world. Join a faction, betray a faction destroy a faction or simply be a faction on your own. Quests that again change how the world interacts with you, rough conversations about how to help or to get rid of the others. Bethesda never understood fallout.
For saying how much they love their modding community it's quite strange that they wouldn't applaud this masterpiece of the mod community

I didn't even work on this game or anything, just enjoying it so very much that I'm offended as a fan at their lack of... well everything here recently, but especially their lack of acknowledgement to Fallout London and the tremendous and historic feat of THEIR modding community that it is.

i feel people miss a point important... Fallout 4 is almost 9 years old. London, was build on Fallout 4 engine, they have added model and such, but in the end... it's something that did come almost 9 years after fallout 4 even fallout 76 (that is not made by bethesda) did come out in 2018.

One of the best things about it to me is that it's *genuinely* a challenge. The whole economy of the game, and the scarcity of all vital resources; ammo, health, armour all makes it much more engaging on a level that forces you to actually be mindful of what and how much you're using. Well, that and the Dr. Who easter eggs lol
Without the modding community BGS would have gone away a long time ago. They simply sell everyone an engine with a simply tech demo and let the modders do the leg work. Brilliant business plan that’s why MS bought them and they’re not charging the engine.

Only way Fallout leaves a U.S theme is in a DLC. Visiting a Pacific island that was under Chinese Occupation could work really well. Plus, it allows them to actually characterize the other side of the setting's most critical moment. You get wacky Chinese culture in the DLC, and wacky American culture in the base-game.

Guess I’m the only one who feels like it’s just ok. An amazing mod, but it seems people have honeymoon syndrome or something. Putting this way higher than I think it should be even with it being a mod. I’m talking story wise and world setup. Everything else is great to me but it leaves more to be desired from it which is a good problem to have imo

It's a mod. And they're not selling it. It's free. They have people's mods in their games all the time. Acknowledging this particular one cannot possibly create some copyright situation where they have to enforce it.
I agree. Todd.Bethesda could only stop someone based on oh maybe the voice acting. If you recall, a team was remaking Fallout 3 planned to just reuse the voice actors voices already in the game and were told they couldn't because that would violate the rights of the vas to compensation so they were going to have to rerecord the dialogues with their own fan voice actors but I don't know if that project is still viable.
It's actually because Bethesda only has the rights to those voice lines for fallout 3, they cannot grant those to anyone else even for a mod. Bethesda saying people can use them would open them up to lawsuits by the voice actors who worked on fallout 3.@@ANGRYWOLVERINE2060-ft2nc
Also from what I've heard in relation to skyblivion (they are also redoing all the voice lines) Bethesda never explicitly told them they couldn't use the voice lines, just that they couldn't give permission as they didn't own the rights, and so the skyblivion team (and I'm guessing the same with the fallout 3 remake) could potentially open themselves up to being sued by the voice actors if they used the voice line, so they obviously decided not to.
The reason this isn't really an issue with smaller mods that reuse voice lines is that most of the time they are being used in the same game that those lines "shipped with" and smaller mods wouldn't get the same kind of outside awareness that a big mod like skyblivion would get.

It seems like the community has unrealistic expectations of Bethesda when it comes to this mod. People were upset that Bethesda gave their next gen update without giving the mod creators a heads up, but it doesn't make sense to expect that a fan's passion project requires moderation or communication with the company. The frustrations around it make sense, but it's not really a Bethesda issue. The breaking of the game separate from any mods is the Bethesda issue. When it comes to a social media call out now, why would they? What business sense would it make to help advertise a mod that requires a bunch of manual edits to the game, isn't something they will provide support for, and isn't available on all of the platforms their game is available on? If there's a history of "Mod of the week" type spotlights I'm not aware of, I'm happy to be wrong about this.
The same reason they promote modders to come and fix their games. Or why they milked skyrim knowing its not really Skyrim being sold, its the mods that add to the base experience. Mods are what make bethesda, so shouting out a large historical mod like Fallout London DOES make sense.
@@PoloMoney The Skyrim piece I definitely don't agree with. They were selling enhancements to Skyrim with a target demographic of console players that didn't have access to mods or play vanilla. Each release coincided directly with new hardware, and many were console specific. I'd be curious to know what % of players use mods, because I kind of doubt it's the majority. It's a very passionate group of dedicated players, but by sales numbers I'm guessing there's significantly more vanilla casuals. I'm sure as the game ages it leans more towards mods but I doubt it breaks 50%.
For the shout out, I just really don't think you'd ever get a company putting their "blessing" on a fan made project that isn't supported on any official version of the game and requires other Mods for it to run well/at all. They'd almost need to provide a tutorial for installs in the post, and they would be taking on some liability for the provided instructions and the mod itself if it were malicious, or ever became malicious. (Which by all indicators, it isn't). If they were able to provide it in their Creations program, you'd probably see a shout out post because they have a chance to review final versions before they go live, and the ability to take it down if there was a bad change.
Fallout London deserves a lot of praise, and the community is providing that praise. I just wouldn't take a lack of an official statement on it by the company Bethesda to mean the people who work there have any ill will towards the mod.
Bethesda does claim at times to be "Modder friendly" and are definitely aware that modding is associated with them. Hell you can even look at their own official website and find pages on skyrim and fallout with mods. Of course they had to do it the Bethesda way and monetize those same mods so, I guess they are only mod friendly if it gives em money.

A mod for Fallout using the name Fallout is not a trademark infringement unless they sell it. The reasons many big emulators were in a grey zone is because while they weren't sold they were still locked behind Patreons and stuff
Kinda liked the update. Ran fine, bunch of creation club stuff I didn't have became free, and enjoyed their little enclave quest.
Sad that it broke some mods, but all of mine were fine.
Worst I can say is that it fills up your quest-log the moment you leave the vault, which suck if it's your first time... but FoNV did that too with their dlc.

I don't think Fallout London makes Bethesda look bad. I think it makes them look GOOD. They spent years developing the tools to make these games, and then make them available to modders (at no fee) to make free content for other players. A mod like this show where A GROUP of gamers want Bethesda to go. It doesn't show what direction grows and makes their company strong, which then allows them to repeat the process. I love great mods, which wouldn't be possible without Bethesda.
I don’t think it’s weird that Bethesda isn’t acknowledging London, i think it makes total sense. Why would they want to drive players away from Fallout 76 where they’re spending money on MTXs and driving up playtime on GamePass to instead go play a free mod for one of their old games. Especially a mod that rivals their own games in quality.

Its a game, period. I have 38 hours logged and haven't even cured my lab rat status Effect. I'm just out here participating in gang wars, doing random side quests, beefing up Covent Gardens, and exploring random locations. This is a game that just so happens to be called a mod.

If we judge it by release date standards, Morrowind is a masterpiece of a game and still their best RPG so far. Rather than Fallout 3 or another 50 versions of Skyrim I wished that was the one they remade with the current engine.

Bethesda should have put this as a Fallout 4 DLC, then the hard working developers who devoted years could be paid. Also the installation could be easier and be more popular to the wider audience then the modding community.
Coming from a Brit, I fully agree that Fallout is a US cultural product. That's where it's heart and soul is, and that's where it will always be. We do have a Fallout Universe outside of the US, though. Baked in as part of the Fallout construct itself so any attempts to represent it are perfectly valid as there is no canon outside of the US and can never be without either a nod from Bethesda or canon directly ceated by Bethesda. Valid is a completely separate issue from good and bad though. Thankfully, in the case of Fallout London, it's most definitely the former.

I think Germany or Japan would be the best options besides the U.S. post ww2 there would definitely be Americana in those places. Maybe in the fallout universe we colonized Japan after ww2. Or the Berlin wall never fell so there would still be a big American presence there. So fast forward to 2077 what would those places look like if we never left. Not sure if there is any lore that says otherwise.
