Thank you for a wonderful video! Our little Troy Bilt is not going to be a mower anymore, so I needed to learn how to take the mower deck off so I can use it on my farm to pull around my yard stuff! This video was wonderful for me as I know nothing about mowers! Thank you!

    Edit: See tips below!
i really appreciate the pace you do this video. so often people drag it out, but your pace is excellent. good camera work too. i only hope that with two hands I can do half as well as you did with one! good on ya mate!
UPDATE: Tip for removing the clips... I just took my deck off and found that using pliers to remove the clips is not great. Instead, use a (fairly large) flat-blade screw driver, stick it in the clip between the two ends and twist, it will pop right off with almost no effort. Note: one end is obvious and the other is not as obvious. The obvious end is flared out -- twist the driver against that flared out part.
Second tip: to remove the cable's spring, push the pulley back to where there's some recesses in the deck which give you room to get the spring end out.

Excellent video, just what I wanted to see. Had some wonderful memories while watching. My Grandfather was missing his left hand and that man could do more with one hand than most can do with two. Helped him build a picnic gazebo one summer with nothing more than a hand saw and a hammer. Learned more about work ethic and being my own man than anything else I have ever done. Thank you so much.

Excellent video, i took my deck off 7 or 8 years ago and never used it, needed it for a job yesterday looked for a removal video so i could reattach it. this video was excellent, clear explanations with perfect visuals. I dont like to criticize people trying to help others, however i do want to compliment you, i came across 2 other videos first and i could not see anything they were doing. That is how i came across yours. Thanks again and great instructional for someone that wouldnt have a clue. What i needed was to see which holes to use on rear mounts and where the cable went, also realized i had lost the pin to secure the cable. Thanks

Excellent "How to Video"! Great close-ups, video/sound quality, steps, explanations as to "why this way and not another way", pointing out pitfalls, no fluff, short to the point, the real deal. Exactly what I needed to get this job done. Thank you for creating content like this! I have a 2008 Bronco and hope these steps will apply. I subscribed to come back for more Troy Bilt Bronco related maintenance content, I assume over time I need to reference how to change different belts and other maintenance that seems basic at first until one gets 'down and dirty'.

I taught several hearing impaired people how to do wheel alignments so they could get paid more than Tire Techs. Obviously they really can't do brake work without help because they can't hear brake sequels and noises etc. I can't imagine teaching a 1 armed man how to do mechanical repairs but I applaud your effort and your tenacity! NEVER let anyone tell you what you can't do right? The reality is people will do exactly that. Even if you had both hands people will still stand in your way.

I call it a dog's paw, tough enough to start nails with, to be able to use a hammer to finish the task. A handicapped person is one that looses a limb after being born with it, and then remembers what is was like to have it.
Being born without it I don't miss it, and was not sheltered as a kid, over came and adapted.

Excellent video. Those darned “safety”clips were-are a challenge until I watched your video. Much easier way than the way I struggled with them. I find it easier to put a short piece of 2 x 4 under each side of the deck when reinstalling the deck. The added height off the ground makes it much easier to locate and attach the rear lift bars and front bar also. I also found the you can slide the deck out from under the chassis a short distance and it’s make the deck engagement cable and retainer much easier to remove and install.

Thank you! My newer deck removal videos now show what you came across with pulling the deck out. I am still learning every day to help put out a good video and I thank you all who help in the process :). Thank you for watching and commenting.

Great video. Easy to follow. I’m assuming the latest pony 42” deck is identical to the bronco.
All the pony videos are on the old model deck with no scallop wheels. Newest pony has them and a bigger motor.

Awesome video. My old Troy-Bilt is mowing all sorts of lopsided and figure it's time to drop the deck, check all the pulleys, sharpen or replace the blade etc etc. As far as I know, it's never been done, and this thing is nearing 20 years old lol
