(kinda same thing), and that's because Lebanese Christians believe as she was running away from the guards, she hid in a field of wheat and disguised herself as several characters!

Growing up (in the Netherlands) my father always read me bedtimes stories from the brothers Grimm. The first little mermaid story I heard was how she turned into the foam on the waves of the sea instead of a happy ending😂

Back in the 70s and 80s Shelley Duval had a show called "Fairy tale theater" with young aspiring great actors. I'll recommend you to watch them. Her episodes would be very close to the original tales.
I remember watching the Rapunzel story, and she was banished to the desert.
My favorite one must be The Princess and the pea, with Liza Minnelli.

I have read these stories as a child because my momma also liked stories that had been more "original". I love that you talked about them cause most people dont know about it.
I had a beautifully illustrated Little Mermaid book when I was a kid that was the original (or closer to the original) telling of the story. The only things I remember about it are how beautiful the illustrations were and how tragic the ending was. It was written by Hans Christian Andersen.
I had a fairy tale book with a Cinderella version where in one of the stepsisters cut of her toe to fit the glass slipper 😅
I appreciate the darker stories. I grew up know about Brothers Grimm. The classic childhood songs are just as much fun. “Ashes, ashes, we all fall down”.

The concept of children that we know today, is actually a fairly new concept in society. The idea that children should play and be treated separately from adults didnt exist before. There were babies and then at about age 5 they were considered young adults.

bailey please do an episode on the radioactive fire underneath st. louis! my parents grew up near coldwater creek, where tons of radioactive waste was "disposed of" in poorer neighborhoods. so many people my parents grew up with have rare cancers now that are linked to the creek and radioactivity
as a descendant of the grimm brothers i grew up with their tales and when i was young i used to get mad at how disney displayed the stories… as if they were going to show that to kids lol

So glad you covered this!!! I went back and watched episode one of the Disney princesses 😮😮😮😮 For next week I am so grateful you are covering the energy drinks thing. I almost died because I was a nursing assistant who worked nights and I would survive these shifts by drinking 6-10 per day. I have been extremely ill ever since and it has been over 14 years. And I am still having issues to this day. I fully believe my brain stem was injured that day. I absolutely love you and could not be more excited to see you winning!!!❤❤❤❤
