I had similar situation and was not able to officially admit my children. It was a headache and all started with trying to obtain student visa from the States. I don’t know what the Indian Gvt is doing but the rules for all visa appeared to have gotten much stricter. I had intention to enroll 2 of my children to TCV and rest of family to go along as well. Total, I had applied for 4 regular tourist visa and 2 student visas. I already had my unexpired 10 year tourist visa. I can’t remember exactly, but visas were applied 1.5-2 months in advance from San Francisco (I live in Oregon). All with US Passports. For tourist visa, 1 was granted 10years, 1 was given 1 year, 2 others I ended up doing e visa due to time which was granted the 5 years. For the students visas, they kept rejecting it for different reasons and never granted student visa by the time we had to depart so I had gotten e visa for them instead. I also still had hopes for their admission as I had admission paperwork from TCV and people around me kept telling me that it shouldn’t be too difficult as you are coming all the way from States. I had in past placed 1 of my child in school in India for 2 years and was never asked for student visa so I thought there is a chance they will accept them. I even tried resolving in India by going to Dhasa FRRO and Delhi FRRO as the had form online to convert visa. However, they said the only way to covert visa from tourist to student visa is if one parent is Indian. So, only way is to go back to the US and attempt to re apply for student visa. What a headache everything was! We just got back about a month ago now. I’m sorry you and your family had to go through that! It is good that you shared this video though and hopefully reaches the families that are planning to go this route so they can take proper precautions or necessary steps for admission.

TCV should clearly answer the following questions if it wants increased future enrolment in Lower TCV. 1) To which (indian/international) board is the school affiliated? 2. What curriculum is being followed, who formulated the curriculum and what are the key features of the curriculum? 3. Who are the teachers? Do they have experience/skills to teach children born in western countries? 4. What facilities are there in the school to ensure safety and well-being of the children?

I was born in Tibet and grew up in Tibet. Since 12 year till 36 I studied abt Tibetan Buddhism and language. This time is internet time so, I may help your child to teach our language specially speaking.

Your intention, efforts, and dedication are very pure. what you said is not to say in the sky. That's a big mistake of main TCV and lower TCV administration. The administrators should be heard your voice. Why they announced it in the first place and sent invitation to come if there are not ready. The school needs to care and focus more on kids and parents coming from abroad, quality of program, and be organized.

Seykong Penpa Tsering announced this initiative at TPIE session hoping there will be lots of enrollment, the drawback is this projec has not full backing of TCV administration as they were shutting down Lower TCV, there was no much enrollment as expected.
As generally TCV is an organisation where indebted to so many people n am the one of them but then people who are in administrative positions are the most corrupted people ever…This organisation is supposed to help people who are in needed but instead so much of under the table. They have already sorted out their life after retirement oh ya they hardly retire even after 60 yrs 😅😅 but the normal staff who worked for like 30yrs or 35yrs have to get their arse sort out once they reach their retirement age. N the staff quarters for retired staff who doesn’t have connection have to waits yrs to get the staff quarter where as they have an easy access to get those n still choose to stay 6months aboard n 6 months in India…which I find so unfair….when they can afford to stay here or there still taking the only opportunity of those normal staff who don’t have land or house outside their staff quarters…I really hope this kind of issue to be heard till the top. N those at administrators who really needed to do their job wholeheartedly…mashe why they sit on the post if they can’t their work properly…..🤯🤯🤯🤯
Hope your story will be heared by our society workers and take more responsibility because we also face problems like officers don't know how to deal our problem and they will ask us to go to other departments, round and round with no solution.
For my son case, Indian Consular said Student Visa are issued only for one year and then you need to renew from local FRRO office. I have hard time getting school acceptance letter for visa process.
When it comes to responsibility, TCV is horrible. I had some terrible experiences with TCV. Most staff of TCV are very unreliable, untrustworthy, and dishonest.
What I believe is you said you got an invitation letter from school. 1. So you need to take the invitations letter and apply for a student visa. 2. If you didn’t get student visa I don’t think the school will accept your child. The school cannot take risk.
I agree what u are saying . But since the school knows their affiliation number is expired … isn’t it their duty to inform us before hand? Our fault was we decided then and their to send him and we didn’t have that much time to realise that we will not get student visa. Because we have already bought ticket to India. At the last minute we cannot cancel it also.
No schools accept students without student visa. When u didn’t get one in fact was a red signal that something was wrong. proceeding further out of excitement is kinda gambling. No offense!

We have tried before…. I wanted him to grew up in Tibetan school environment..and then he will eventually speak in Tibetan cause kids there don’t speak Dutch or in English. May be it will take him like 2 -3 months but eventually he will learn to speak TIBETAN . That was my goal. I hope u understand my point of view.

Yeah, you have right to speak up, but let's not drag the whole TCV down. It's been built over so many years and one mistake from both sides shouldn't tarnish its reputation. Going down that road will only lead to trouble for everyone. We need to be careful before bringing these issues to such a large platform. It's not easy to point out all the mistakes of TCV.

I don’t know … it could be expired one. The principle of Lower TCV also clearly told us that the affiliation number is expired . Even the principal of CSTMundgod , I showed him the invitation letter he also told me … affiliation number is not there..🤷♀️. As I said in the video even I don’t know how the other 3 families got Visa.

This is such a careless administration work from TCV…how do they not know that affiliation number is important? Are they not aware of student visa? When did you work on his visa? Before leaving to India? When they found it was not registered, did you check the reason there itself?

hi, maybe you know that Tibetan school in Gent on Sunday. if you like you can try it for your child.
We have tried before…. I wanted him to grew up in Tibetan school environment..and then he will eventually speak in Tibetan cause kids there don’t speak Dutch or in English. May be it will take him like 2 -3 months but eventually he will learn to speak TIBETAN . That was my goal. I hope u understand my point of view.

I was just amazed by other Tibetan viewers who spent half their lives at TCV, along with their families. Because of one video, they are all blaming TCV. I understand she is a mother but how can everyone do that? Criticizing your own TCV school among our own people. What are we expecting from others? Like, seriously, get a grip and think carefully before commenting.
I told you in my video that I didn’t want to make a video about it… But if I don’t share my experience how are other parents gonna know??? Many parents wanted to know. It’s a public platform and we have the right to speak our opinion . Even few parents have had same issues .. did you read that? Topics like this need to be discussed in the Tibetan office.
Yeah, you have right to speak up, but let's not drag the whole TCV down. It's been built over so many years and one mistake from both sides shouldn't tarnish its reputation. Going down that road will only lead to trouble for everyone. We need to be careful before bringing these issues to such a large platform. It's not easy to point out all the mistakes of TCV.

@@tenzin3681 A school should always stay updated especially when it comes to current status of the schools affiliation right? Who would have thought a school could go wrong this way? It’s not her fault plus the school should have all these knowledge and instead guide parents but instead they are even hard to contact. Everywhere from school basic details to website is outdated. Are they living in 20th century where the parents can just come an out their child in the school especially from abroad? Why can’t they do a proper job even though the initiative is appreciative. It truly felt like these families are trial and the fact that there were families before who were not able to admit, they should be even more aware of these things.

May be you are working in a related office but does not mean you have to stand for something that has done wrong. Plus her speaking Tibetan or not is her choice, it’s for her audience which is none of your business. TCV mission is to help Tibetan students in grow up in such good environment and they should be able to help in such matters especially when parents are willing and spending energy and expenses on this.
