I think your sunflowers ink drawing is really beautiful and delicate. Your skills are all coming together piece by piece.

I just posted a video also from the NMA on my channel but they didn't react to my emails I've sent to them to inform them while on my first thank you email I got a very nice kind long answer. I hope I did or said nothing wrong. I know my work is not doing them justice. My last video ended up in the USA and has more than 2K views (never had that with one of my videos) so I hope that that they think that I'm trying to get succes with my channel with their name (cause I really don't care anymore). Anyways when I see your work I'm so inspired cause you are so much more refined as an artist than me. You are my big inspiration!

Hi Petra! I don't know anything about this, I don't work for NMA and I don't want to talk for them... But I hope you don't feel bad about yourself, there's no reason to think you have done anything wrong, it's easy to overthink these things with social media.
I'm glad my content here can be inspiring to you, please don't think negatively of yourself and keep it up, you'll get there! 🪻

Hey Julie. What was your favourite brush to use? Great job on the course! love your content!

Thank you! Surprisingly, my favorite brush to use isn't a Kolinsky sable, it's a synthetic. It's the Raphael Softaqua... I don't know why, for some reason all the Kolinsky brushes I got couldn't hold their tip, I wonder if they arrived damaged or something. Anyway, I ended up using my synthetics more!

It's reassuring to hear that the nma classes increase in difficulty. I'm currently working through the drawing foundations 2 course, and have found the material quite elementary thus far. I understand that foundational concepts like shading and sighting are essential for beginners. However, for someone with some experience, the pace feels slow. Nevertheless, your videos inspire me to continue, so thank you.

I'm glad that it's inspiring you to continue! Maybe if it's feeling slow you could take a couple courses at the same time, that's what I often did at the beginning.
To be honest, there will still be a lot of repetition through the module and beyond, I think courses are designed with the idea that they could be taken independently, not everyone follows the module, and regardless, repetition is important to learn. But it gets more and more specific and the difficulty increases 😊
It's also up to you, you can take an assignment as far as you'd like, use your own reference to make it yours and think of it as a portfolio piece rather than something you're doing just for the class.

Dear Julie, Thank you very much for your response. I appreciate your help!! I have found a way to engage with the current course more effectively. I use my large art books at home; I select a book relevant to the teacher's current topic (currently, a book on Michelangelo) and draw from it while listening to the lecture. I will, of course, also pay attention to the teacher's instruction, but this approach helps maintain my focus and interest. I also like your suggestion of choosing a more advanced course to do at the same time, I don't know why I didn't think of that, lol. Thank you 😊 🙏 💓

I struggle with watching lessons too, I need to keep my hands busy! For me, knitting does the trick, it requires very little attention and makes me feel like I'm being productive. Everyone in my family is getting hand knit socks for Christmas this year 😂
Drawing is a bit too involved for me but I'm glad you found something that works! Some courses will require more attention, they're all al bit different, when you get to Perspective 1 you'll have to follow along and it takes full focus.

@@Julie.Miette It's very good to know that I'm not alone. I was starting to think I might have undiagnosed adhd lol. Awe, hand knit gifts are THE BEST!!! You're awesome 🥰
