I hope you all enjoyed my kinda webtoon video today, or at the very least found it interesting. Feel free to like, subscribe and tell me your thoughts, or not! What did you think of this terribly hilarious off brand webtoon? There was a lot more bird casualties then I thought there would be!

@@mattybites Sometimes in some part of Asia, referring yourself with your names are seen as "innocent"-like and polite. When I talked to my mom, I automatically switched to 3rd pov-like thing (but most Asian language has no difference in grammars between 1st pov or 3rd pov way of speaking so it's just using your name in place of "I"), I did this to all of my elders and even much older cousins. But with closer cousins or same-age, I still use "I"
So instead of "I don't know", I'll say "Ari doesn't know." But since difference of grammar between she and I don't exist, it really is just "Ari don't know. Would grandma like Ari to find out? Ari will ask mom." But to my older brother, it will be "I don't know, you want me to ask mom?"
It is INCREDIBLY polite and -
_affectionate,_ and only children often using it and when those children grow up, it's hard for them to change the way they address themselves to certain people (I.e, family elders).
If a person use it to every single person instead of selected few, then that person will be seen as extremely innocent and cute. Because using it to your peer is somewhat embarrassing. But some people DO feel natural about it. A friend of mine sometimes slipped and use her own name to refer herself but because it's natural, nobody say a thing. You can immediately sense it which person who use it naturally and which one use it deliberately. Just a fun fact.
Oh! And if you ask how this could happen. Some elders in family will refer to you with your own name constantly like "Hi, Ari. Does Ari want this?" "Does Ari like me?" "Ari, how was Ari's school?" Yes, the absence of 'you' in many sentences made this quite prevalent. Parents do this on instinct too, they like to say their children's name to be more personal rather than just 'you.' After their children grow up a bit, then they will automatically switch to 'you' but their children would still be stuck using 3rd pov, there are many outliers however. My brother and some cousins use "I" to talk to everyone because of environment. Boys usually become embarrassed and consciously stopped themselves from doing it and create a new habit.
After hearing how many canaries are being killed daily I decided to look up blood donation numbers.
A person can donate a pint of blood in a day which happens to be enough to fill her wine glass at least three times. Since you have to wait 8 weeks before donating again. She would only need 60 people to donate blood to keep her alive and no birds have to go extinct.
Having a species go extinct or near extinct for no reason (or maybe to keep this whole thing secret 🤷♀️) they could idk get slaves , criminals, your everyday human and say she's sick , actually even easier ! There was this thing back in the day (in the Renaissance so the perfect period for this comic) where doctors would bleed their patients to "make them feel better" they could just collect that blood secretly to feed her ! Idk I'm just giving ideas 😭
1 pint = 2 cups
Hell even pigs make more sense canaries as it might be closer??? Or kill apes for it? Anything humans might resemble in DNA? A very basic what animals were used medical or humans are related kind a too would make so much more sense? And they kill the monkeys anyways?
Or the obvious yeah use slaves? Its not nice but not driving a species to extinction, and you could have enough to change up regulary, and if you can hunt a magical species to extinction, you can affort slaves.
And even then she can do some fasting now and again so she doesn't even need that much
Or she could run a bloodrun donation event and just take some of that blood for her own stock
How do you make a character so overpowered but so frequently helpless...
It's what happens when you try to build a story around a bunch of overused character and plot tropes.
She needs to be an awesome badass girlboss for 'young girl power fantasy fulfillment' reasons , but she also needs to be an uwu pwecious baby for her shitty toxic love interest to constantly save and infantilize so the 13 year old audience that Webtoons markets all their content to go 'OMG they're so in looooovvvveeee!' because they are too young to see all the red flags and poor story writing.

Golden canaries were born after some drunk sorcerers sought to answer the question “would you rather fight 100 bird sized horses or one horse sized bird”
This made me audibly snort!
100 bird-sized horses, if they are small birds
😂😂😂
The canary thing is something a kid would write and then later in adulthood stare at it like "wtf that doesn't make sense". But this was, presumably, written by an adult. It's incredible just how little thought some people put into their writing while I sit here second guessing my work constantly to make sure it makes sense.
I have at least 1 person read my drafts before I even start drawing for this exact reason
isnt that why editors exist, when you think, hey that would sound cool, and someone says, scrap that ok?! or just a person that you say, be entirely honest, is that fine?
The only sht that would make sense if the said golden canary is a big-big bird
Wel it's unfortunately mostly the industry. These types of badly written books written this way, sell hard cash.

I don't get why the author decided on Canaries of all things for her to drink seems very convoluted, like why not just have Sasha be a regular vampire?
Or just have her feed off any animal. Why would your first option be a small AF bird. 😂
i guess they thought "golden canaries" sounded cool? idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@izayoi2006 That could literally be the explanation for why all the farm animals are dying sense they never explain that
Because canaries are soft, vulnerable, easily breakable little birbs. Like Sasha once was.
So her having to eat/drink them is symbolism of how she is not as innocent anymore, since golden birbs are innocent and she needs them dead to survive.
Yeah... still stupid.

The „the king somehow got better and proclaimed Paris the new king while in a coma” can work if you use Sasha being a vampire as a plot point instead of something that is important only when you need it to be important.
Vampires can control other people's minds (hypnosis) if they consume enough blood. In the novel „Dracula” the process of hypnosis begins with Dracula's focus on his intended target. He engages them with his eyes, speaking in a voice that weaves a spell of compulsion. The victim's resistance diminishes as Dracula's will overrides their own, leaving them compliant and vulnerable. This ability is not just a means of control but also a method of communication, as Dracula can plant suggestions and commands within the minds of those he hypnotizes.
So theoretically Sasha could compel the king to make Paris his successor if he, the king, doesn't make it. First let's scrap the coma and say that he needed to be put to sleep because he sustained a fracture in the neck but was so enraged at what his wife had done when he came to that he, at the time, refused to get treated until she was captured, so they put his well-being ahead of his orders and sedated him.
She just has to play the distraught daughter-in-law who is worried for her husband so much so that she decides to help care for her father-in-law as a coping mechanism for not being allowed to go with her husband. Establish herself as the king's main caretaker so they would trust her to be alone with him. Wait for him to wake up, like, once, plant the idea in his head, and then wait until he wakes up again so she can make him do her bidding.
Wow that's really cool

Skedaddle is a normal slang word in the modern day southern US, meaning to leave or go away, usually by telling someone to skedaddle, or leave. It might not be tonally appropriate, but it's definitely just fine to use.
Bumpkin is also a normal word, and actually tonally appropriate because it's meant to be an insult that implies people from rural areas are uneducated, which the queen regent clearly intends.
I was gonna say that seems tonally off for a story about posh vampires and nobility but then I remembered that in fairness most of Interview With A Vampire takes place in New Orleans and you know what now the slang tracks.
@GracieLizzy and the grammar or word choice issues completely made me miss the fact the author *didn't* make the cure to the bloodlust the poisoned blood. I mean the story telling is right there and they missed it.
Can't wait to see you DESTROY a comic for 38 minutes straight

The thing that needs to be mentioned about webtoons work comic contracts is that they get paid per each significantly large update in a certain amount of time, so art quality is not prioritised, speed is: hence 3D assets, minimal emotions, panel scroll down being sparse etc or even plot holes or the like. If i was having to do large updates for webtoons, I'd be slapping assets in and scaling back everything a lot more too. Some hobbyists/indie comickers I know make their own 3D backgrounds for scenes to make the process more enjoyable AND efficient, but they have their own schedules to allow them to draw over their assets or work them into their art style. It's all about time!
Webtoons scroll downs don't see a single comic page of 6 panels as an update, it will see one scroll down format of a tens and tens of panels as an update. which is objectively more work than one or two pages in standardised page formats. Tv and movies do it too so yay creative industry woooo
So I don't always begrudge a writer or artist over at webtoons, more irritated that there's no breathing room for any sort of development all around. But still, the man always rescues the women trope is very, very annoying. honestly, just wanna see a man with poisoned blood and a bloodlust vampire woman fail to kill each other, kinda be more lovers to enemies and maybe to allies against the crappy siblings but eh, I'd have to write that myself I guess. (I won't, I'm too lazy)

Honestly, it would've been more efficient if she had a few blood donors on rotate. Hell, in the story I'm writing, the main character only drinks blood from large mammals like cattle or deer.
Drinking a whole bottle of antacid is crazy work. As someone who accidentally took one too many tums one time, that dinner would be spent in their room, on the floor, clutching their stomach as it cramps up in ways not ever felt before.
If someone who doesn't experience periods would like to, the pain from too much sodium bicarbonate will get you close (pls do not actually).
That sounds terrible lol

The author could easily just say she needs one canary daily man, just let her go on a human blood rampage at this point, it would make a cool story if she had to hide it from everyone and all
I would have had the canary blood be a special additive to other more easily gotten in bulk blood. "A healthy portion of horse with a special squeeze of canary. Stir vigorously for 3 minutes and serve." Keeps the tension, but doesn't strain believability as much.
It reminds me of those fantasy comics where for every problem there’s a special magic to fix it

I love how insane you go over these 😂😂😂 it brings me so much joy 😂😂
I believe that the fact that the relationship between Paris and Sasha is so sick and toxic is due to the common illusion of how girls treat the idea of love. It is very common for the media to romanticize acts of toxicity and possessiveness for the sake of the public, After and 50 Shades of Grey exist to prove this, which in this case, are needy women/girls who most of the time have never been in a relationship or have a frustrated relationship, so this type of relationship is taken as a fetish. Besides, Paris is handsome, so, logically, everything horrible he does is automatically forgiven, because he is handsome, even though he has a clearly TERRIBLE personality and if he were ugly and fat he would be called a criminal. The same goes for Sasha, who is taken as an empowered woman, even though she is clearly strong for script conveniences.
And in this, we have these UNNECESSARY moments of possessiveness. Man, I really felt sorry for Erica just by watching the video. Okay, she had semi-incestuous desires with her older brother, and she acted strangely, childishly, to get attention even though she was an adult woman. This justification could be taken into account that the audience that reads these webtoons usually hates any and all types of characters that want or come to ruin the romance, so, most likely, in the chapter where it is shown that Erica is taken to die, you will find many, MANY comments saying:
"Finally, I couldn't stand that spoiled brat anymore!"
"I'm glad the author gave that annoying girl a fair end."
"Always hate Erica..."
For the simple fact that she likes Paris. What annoys me about these manhwas is that the romances are always extremely robotic and boring. In addition to this disgusting possessive relationship that makes me roll my eyes.
(sorry for the English mistakes, I'm not a native, in fact I'm just a Brazilian who likes to access her videos. I'm typing all this in Google Translate)
I recommend you read "The Top Dungeon Farmer" as a palette cleanser. It has good story and tons of cute animals! It's not a romance fantasy but I still am recommending it to you again.

I remember there was a controversy with the islamophobia in the comic as the main character complains about having to wear a head scarf/hijab (she's a seasoned traveller so it is out of left field) + the usual orientalism (a vague eastern country that meshes indian culture and clothing with middle eastern culture and clothing like how the women of the harem wear belly dancer clothes) schtick where the people of the country are barbaric, strong, violent and virile and the women are either power hungry whores or oppressed women that the educated sophisticated white european FL has to "save".
@magicalpopfish9570 omg youre right but I swear the story was atleast a little better than whatever the hell it's turned into
Review the webcomic "Muertitos"
After hearing the canary math i understand, why other vampieres drink rat blood for survival XD
It's very obvious the author just wanted to have a vampire fmc with white hair and red eyes and went the most convoluted way to do so. Easy solution- the monster that attacked her in the beginning is a vampire. She "dies" still but is now a vampire. She could even blame Paris at first which could be an interesting relationship development. Like she refuses to accept his help in any capacity and that stubbornness gets her into various situations. Maybe they get together out of a mutual agreement. He needs a bride that wont die from his blood, and she needs access to his money to get non human blood to keep living. They dont care about each other at first. But over time and realizing they have a LOT in common, they become friends. And from there their relationship falls in naturally. No magical drugs, no convoluted canary issue, no extortion. Wow look at that.See how easy that was? wait thats kinda the plot to My in laws are obsessed with me. Without the vampires.
I'm choosing to believe the blood all of those golden canaries gave her all of those crazy powers she has and nobody will convince me otherwise.
Speaking of the downgrading art, the Korean webtoon has a toxic working environment. Think about drawing the sparkling, fully rendered illustration for every panel. You have to put an average of 60 panels per chapter. That's why you see the shitty 3D assets in every cartoon. And at least the readers of the Romance fantasy webnovel adaptation, they prefer the sparkling 3D assets to the artwork drawn by the artists themselves. Since most of them are young, they don't have any standards and think sparkling is good.
As for the stiff expression, when the characters are super expressive, the rofan readers blame artists for making them ugly.
Many problems of romance fantasy webtoons(from the art to the story) are caused by young readers who don't know better and webtoon studios that pander to them for money. Webtoon artists don't have enough time or freedom to explore their artistic vision, and webtoon studios force them to pander to their readers.
First time a 'can you guess' section actually had me baffled, never knew how absured this story would go 😂
