- Documentary Film about Carvers Bay High School Girls going to Parris Island Marine Depot for a week of Marine Training. Instructors Master Sgt. Joe Epps and Gunnery Sgt. Viva Taylor. Filmed by Moneisha Orange and Dane Sorensen. Edited by Dane Sorensen. Filmed from June 6 - 13, 2014.
I was in army rotc for a couple years did raiders which is the physical team. I wanted to join army or marines. Got all the way up until I had to go to meps. Got disqualified cause of health reasons. Real bummer! I wanted to serve since I was young. But being in that program gave me confidence and teaches you discipline , leadership skills, confidence .... I can’t explain how much it changed me for the better! I believe every kid should do at least a year in high school.
Great video but holy shit the music, can't hear half of what's being said.
"Is that how they chew military style?" Immediate death stare from one of the cadets as if the camera man was being annoying and a creep haha at 3 hours 12 minutes
Does being a boy scout count ? We had to bounce a quarter on the sheet before it was right.
Lights out was at taps and we got up at reville. We had a bugler blow meds call and something else for an activity , like rifle range, swim time troop canoe trip, etc
We paddled 2 miles upriver for an overnighter.
I had a blast !
We had movation Company, and a CCP Company plus a Conditioning Company, and when I went back there they didn't have them anymore an if a recruiter came up a gave u a card he was going home on a Greyhound bus in three days, back in 69 they sent u Motavation Company then if u were not Movated they sent u to the CCP Company, by that time your Plt. had graduated Boot Camp, and you finally got a discharged on I forgot after you all that you went to a Casual Company then you got a discharge and talking to a doctor and pastor you got out and all of that took six months an like I stated then u got out, that is what our Sr. D. I. told us that movated us even more, but first they sent you to one day movatoin Plt. for one day, and if that didn't work then you went to all that which I stated we were also told that by our Sr. D.I. we had two recruiters that went through that
Ive just graduated high school and cant wait to enlist! I'll be the first black male in my family to do so!!
Congratulations & wish you a bright future
Good luck, man
You have white males in your family?
It means, u got a permanent job?
Pls reply I also wanna join marine
1) Sgt
2) Drill Instructor
I think this is a wonderful opportunity for the students. All ROTC programs should do something like this.
This is fun
The barracks have improved a lot since I was at Parris Island!
At 33:39 he was like
"Ur not screaming..."
"SAY SOMETHING!!!"
I was like, I can relate on a deep level
Sam Winterstarch the attitude she had 🤧🤧 he was trying soo hard to remember she's not a actual recruit
the way she's moving tells me that she's very ignorant
I think this should be in All high schools just would like to know how many of these loung woman did enlist after this i have a sister that was in now
That D.I was using.0000001 percent of his power
That kid at 2:19:54 is moto!
better have became an infantry marines
While that Sargent was being interviewed and the girl came behind and shouted behind. She would be so disciplined.
Eric, that woman is GSgt. Viva Taylor. She may be his superior officer.
Buford Pusser she was neither his superior nor an officer if she was a gunny
@@DanielPfender she's senior to him in the enlisted rank structure
43:22 sis got a little attitude. They warned you before you got on the bus.
Man I would have LOVED doing this during my high school years.
My boyfriend did this at his high school MTH MOUNT TABOR SPARTANS
No you wouldn’t. Trust me
know right lol boot camp is hard as hell but FUN!
Ensirius
And that’s were it belongs 🤣
Yeah it's a whole different experience when you know they can't do anything to you (like throw you in the brig) for being insubordinate.
2:12:11 was pure comedy.
+roby1323 The DI probably laughed his ass off later that day lmaooo
*goofy noise*
What the absolute Fuck 😂😂😂you've got to be shitting me!😂😂☠
Aye aye Siioirrr (face 🌱

Nothing in this life can prepare you better for success than the self discipline mastered in the Marine Corps. I can only lament how my life would have been different if I had joined. My Son though is at San Diego now in quarantine. His yellow steps start Tuesday! Folks to serve is the greatest Honor and Sacrifice. Extend that Honor and Respect to those that do and show your gratitude!
Hope your son is doing well, he entered a few months before mine it sounds like by your post. Mine was in Parris Island, and is now at Flight school in Pensacola for Air Traffic Control. NOT been an easy road, I'll tell you that. BUT he's endured.
@@brentbarnhart5827 Thank you he is well now at Camp Lejeune. Our daughter in law graduated Paris Island on Thanksgiving and is also now waiting training for flight deck. She is holding in North Carolina near Camp Lejeune but I think heads to Florida this summer. So glad he is doing well!
Bruhhhhh😂😂😂 3:12:33 the funniest part
3:12:36 the glare of death hahaha.
He was NOT amused. I felt that glare through my screen for sure.
He was already on the verge of cracking up. Literally on edge of wanting to hurt someone. His detonator (mind) was already about to BLOW UP!!! you can see it in his face. OMG😳3:12:36. That part is NOT funny whatsoever 👀😬
Ssgt Castaneda was one of the instructors that gave my company classes during 1st phase. Great drill instructor!👌🏽
I wonder where some of these high school cadets are now. Whether some ended up becoming Marines or joining any other branch. It would be cool to see an update of where they ended up years later. But I mean that’s prob very improbable.
Some definitely went corp it's not for everyone
Most of em became coke heads
@@babyrob9419 😕
I remember castenada awesome class instructor
The music was way too much. It made the corps seem comical. Couldn't make it through the video at all because of the repeating background sound.
Joseph Cason Yeah because the music in the video made the Marines look bad, not the character of the people in it.
@@nickthehershey They were high schoolers and after this video was filmed they were still high schoolers. Some of them may be in the military now some maybe in the ROTC for their college. What exactly did you expect they were civilians going in and they were civilians going out.
Correct Sir
A simple march snare would have helped. Post production fkd it up
Or silence
Bahaha the barney song
"You ain't gay, get on him!" 1:24:44 had me rolling!!!

“Any day, Hercules”...LOL! A few of these girls outperformed the boys.
Young people THIS will save your life and build yourself as a good person.
All High School students need to attend something like this as a graduation requirement.
My mom said when she was in the Philippines, everyone, I mean EVERYONE, had to take ROTC.
There would be less disrespectful self entitlement little kids running around. I went through Army JROTC in my school and I wanted to join but health problems disqualified me. It was an amazing four years and taught me so much.
Hey, I'mJW how old is your mom?
antares4s I would not say for everyone but definite MCJROTC schools. Hell, this is a normal day for me
antares4s I do JROTC and I believe we should be doing also for to know what we will really experience especially if they want to actually go into the Service
This video bring backs memories when I was in ROTC. Went down to MCRD San Diego. Was a whole lotta fun!
I went to a place in carolina don't remember the name, Never planned on joining army but still amazing. Drill team in highschool tho.
HAHA, I was laughing so much around the 20:00 mark about the 45^^
Thank you for sharing Dan C.^^
Shui Shu Biao Jesus loves you
We just gonna ignore at the start when she was strangling the boy 0:19
Zach and Katie I didn’t even notice that
She was pretending they were joking around
On that day he died, rip
In the D.C. area they had what you called the Young Marines Program affiliated with the real Marines and the program was headed by a female Marine. My observation she was tougher then the male Marines. This program would be good for kids who have behavior problems in school and home. The ROTC would be good for kids period. Some kids have received scholarships because of the ROTC and decided to go into the military and it wasn’t so difficult for them entering the real military. Plus you can save money for college. That’s a big decision you have to make for yourself especially if you don’t have any college or career work status in mind avoiding the street life style or corner work.
Nice film Marine's Corps thanks you so much dear Thanks again sir
By the way its not called the Bathroom its called the Head.
Yep
Ya
Thats what I was saying.
2:12:20 loll his face priceless..
great videos i wish u can do this every year with ur students i love watching stuff like this
My MCJROTC has been to Parris Island for bout 3 days and it was WAY worst, even the DI was worse...but glad they went to learn about the corp
Damn that D.I. is being sooo nice to them
daggern00b just wait until some of them go through the real thing
@@blacksithe2809 99% of them wouldn't even make it...
10 of them are in Corps right now.

Loved every minute of this so much, thanks for the upload, I felt like I was there
Escaping poverty - I wish I had left England for America after my 6 years of military service.
I wish them well - I hope they have better lives.
awesome video guys semper fi
These young adults will never be the same. Wonder what everyone is doing today and how this experience has changed them.
What school system did they attend? Rope climbing was mandatory at my jhs in nyc
I don't not miss those god damn count downs
whitevoid43 I got anxiety just hearing the countdowns 🤣🤣
AT ALL BROTHER 😂😂
I like to watch more videos which are more than 3 hours duration Please upload more videos. US Marines is amazing.
I wish I could've had this mentorship back when I was in high school. I wanted to join the air force but I busted my knee before high school graduation.
that yellow shirt is now SDI SSGT Castaneda
that band is on point
Honestly feeling bad for the DI's who have to do this. This sergeant is over here looking depressed as hell.
I remember him he was always so nice
What year did you meet him.
He was never my DI I just saw him around the island during his last cycle. I ever saw him during training it was always when he was away from his platoon. But I believe it was 2017 was his last year on the island.
I mean u can't lie he is FIIIIIIINE/HANDSOME
Jordan Williams Jesus loves you
Which one what number in the video
Lord help these children, REAL boot camp is nothing like this, what you see as of right now is just censored. It's more relaxed. REAL bootcamp has instructors cussing and putting their hands on them. You have 3 DI's in squad bay, you have one who's posted up by the entrance to watch out for the OIC while the other 2 are screaming and punching recruits in the face, trashing the barracks, and really making your world hell. If y'all think bootcamp is like this, talk to your local veteran. This video is just their way of being nice and "oh shit I can't do anything to make them cry or feel pain or its my ass" because they're civilians. REALITY CHECK, this ain't nothing.
I think they have certain regulations now, they yell but I don't think they can even cuss anymore. What a shame right? Supposed to be training our elite by whatever means then they add restrictions 😐
No punching in the face either, we did get the wind knocked out of us though on a daily basis
+Mister Skittlez No verbal or physical abuse? Have you been to PI dude... If not your impressions of what DIs do is dogshit. Only place i didnt get hit was in the face. Plenty of racks were tossed, elbow in the stomachs, and DIs throwing footlockers and recruits "accidently" happened to be in the way
Really??,,,"punching recruits in the face". What year was that,,never saw that.
majorsmythe1 I said thats the only place where we werent hit, this year
I was in the army jrotc in high school, graduated 1993, and I did this same thing at ft. Campbell in Kentucky, and we slept in outdoor barracks on the parade field, Vietnam style, it was folding racks and sleeping bags for us, but we did learn how to make up a rack, survival training, war games(laser tag with an ar-15), rappelling, zodiac handling and navigation, night patrol and fire watch, and ruck marches, I never served officially, but I loved every minute of my time there, but was never allowed to serve officially because of a class e felony charge I acquired when I was 20, I even scored a 92 on the asvab, and was in peak physical condition, and I still am at 44 (6'4" @210lbs), one of the single biggest regrets of my life is that I never got to serve, and I tried all 5 branches, Uncle Sam is picky!!, If u want to serve, DONT GET IN TROUBLE!!!!
I did something like this in highschool just no DI’s & we did PT. Chow was DFAC @ bfast and dinner but mre for lunch.
so much motivation.
He sucks
The dude teaching them how to make their beds i can't get over the fact that he looks like my current battalion commander but without hair
Watching them learn hospital corners. They are working with brand new blankets and sheets. Ours were ripped and torn but we made it work
That is the chillest I ever seen a drill instructor be
Yeah, he was talking to them normally
This isnt real boot camp this is like jclc for JROTC duhhh. The Drill Instructor cant cuss or put there hands on them becuze they are not in the military yet. This is like getting a taste what is like to be in the Military ITS NOT THE ACTUAL THING. This isnt real boot camp becuze they are high school students this is loke jclc (JROTC CADET LEADERSHIP CAMP) NOT BOOT CAMP. This is go for them ...keep them out of trouble and they will learn leadership skills and how its like to first be in the military. Duhh. Lol.
🎉😂🎉🎉😂🎉🎉😂😂😢😂😮😮😂😢😂🎉😂😮😮🎉😢😂😢😢😂😮😮🎉😢❤😢
If this was the real deal, they'd be smoked. I do understand that they're still kids though.
They are still kids, do you understand?! Kids are hard to discipline, do you understand?! ( ;) )
BS - my mother and father spank me and sometimes even my grandparents. when I did something major, belt, hand, paddle.
@@Eric-zr1mr you sound like you're bragging lmao
Eric ok boomer
@Lonnie you sound insecure, you alright buddy?
I have a question I'm doing the Jrotc for the army in 6 more months are we going to be taking trips like they are or not?!
Went to the CGA Aim program this past summer, there was 10x more screaming and from the time we got there we couldn't look around we had to keep eyes on the boat etc.
ahhh SSGT Castaneda of Golf Co he was cool af
I wanna go here!!!! It looks like so much fun (to me it does) 😜😝😛
Excellent footage, coming from an airman. Very interesting
This is a great idea.
I love how this class is full of majority sistahs! Before u know the military will be full of sistahs and brothers and will outnumber all others if this is not already the case! Im sure once these sistahs are broken in properly they will make great Marines as they always do!
You white
Laura Marcelliano lmao not even close!
Laura Marcelliano u one of those people that think that light brown skin equals mixed which shows how ignorant u are!
@@IndigenousAmericanTrucker how does that make me ignorant? Who says sistahs for one and if you really do say that then cool for you, I think mixed means you have a white mom and a black dad or vise versa and or any other race thinking light brown is mixed is apart of people judgment and its up to other people in their minds to decide on what they believe because of what they see if anyone is ignorant it would be you because I did nothing to be called ignorant, and then you went ahead to compare me to someone who doesn't know their races so try again because your point isn't valid enough to come through.
Laura Marcelliano who doesn’t say sistahs? Listen stop typing to me bcuz u are talking stupid! Both my parents and all my grandparents are all so called black but i prefer to say brown! This idiot says im white bcuz i call my brown women sistahs...gtfoh! U are one of those people that just like to hear yaself talk or in this case watch yaself type! U take the cake for most dumbest shit ever said or typed!
He looks just fed up
I did this as a cadet only we went to Fort Benning Georgia, and the leadership part we had water, but enjoy it two weeks
MARINES ARE NOT SOLDIERS! The person asking questions of the cadets kept calling them and talking to them using army terminology! This is Marine Corps training. I went thru Parris Island with A Co, 1st Recruit Training Bn back in July 85 and served 8 years. I too was in MCJROTC at Johnson High School in Huntsville, Alabama, and was the first graduate from that school to come back from Boot Camp as an Honor Recruit earning Meritorious Lance Corporal as 1st Squad Leader in Platoon 1081, Series 1080. Semper Fi.
i’m doing this soon. for 3 days. and i’ve never done this before, and i’m so nervous. i’m so out of shape, and this is actually my very first year of ROTC so idk what to expect @ PI
U got this..how was it
Did you enlist and did you go to PI or Hollywood If you did enlist
I remember that Drill Instructor. He was kinda funny.
I went through boot camp in 2000 Alpha co plt 1111 Mcrd San Diego aka Hollywood I hope they enjoyed the experience
I was in the Navy Reserve in 1989. I had the first Woman Captain in the US Navy as our commanding Officer. I say that because things didn’t relax much when i was drilling.
You see the difference! This is what sets military personnel apart from every other person. Discipline! It is learned. In my days with the US Navy, we had it tougher than what you are watching right now. The older you are when enlisted, the tougher the training.
This is ROTC. This is not actual Boot Camp. It's a small taste for high school kids to see if they would like to join. The real thing has gotten easier over the years in the Corps but is still soul crushing depending on your DI.
I went to this school last year he was my instructor
DCFUKSURMOM then we went to school together
This looks like a vacation compared to actual bootcamp in Paris island in 2002 but is a good experience for them to have gone through.
I miss it but i loves it ❤
I have that same trip on September 7
Ashley young How was it
This should be mandatory for all able-bodied teens
I finally finished watching it😂it's now 5:21 am
I believe thats MSgt Epps who I served with in 10th Marines at Lejeune & 12th Marines in Oki.
They got the rated G version with sugar on top
@james rice wtf
Uhhh they need to do the bridge thing. Lay on their backs get everything across then flip and crawl alternate. Real damn simple
And the constant attitude and the girls just standing there pissed me off so much.
I like the way the girls helping out each other make their beds this girls be so cute in that uniform how long was the training before graduation ?am still thinking if am ready for this kinda stuff
I also went to Paris island in 70&71 but I'm not a female.
MCJROTC gave me rank when I joined not to mention I knew everything that was expected.
5 minutes in I couldn't watch anymore due to the lack of discipline!!!!!! MCJROTC cadets my ass!!!
They just high schoolers so you can chill out of course they gonna go easy on them and don't pull out the high schoolers or not because that isn't valid this isn't supposed to be full on its just a field trip to parris island to see and do what they would do because they are in the MCJROTC in school understand that before commenting something negative.
@@brookiecookieu.u6491 You're implying most high schoolers arr different from the 18 year olds who enlist and go which is stupid
My god, have mercy on their souls if they were given the full experience of what it means to become a United States Marine.
Is the USMC training considered to be the hardest/toughest of all US military units, or is the special forces(green berets) harder or similar?
Yes, USMC Recruit Training is the toughest of the basic training courses, running 12 weeks long. Special Forces is a separate school you have to qualify for after you've completed basic training and have served some time in the military first.
Special forces in the us army not us marine corp
we did not have all this in rotc back in the 70s in high school.the cool thing is that they can wear their uniform to school on the day with pride..
Lmfao! 3:12:38
Hahha

**It's like not a single one of these kids has ever made a bed before: wtf???*
*These D.I.'s are going WAAAaaayyyy easy! You can see in their faces just how hard they are holding back!*
My brother went to parris Island in the 70's. I imagine it's a bit softer now.
I always wanted to be in the army but couldnt make it since i was 15 and idid went to the recruiter once in new York city and again in México city but they didnt acepted me again i tryed to be a police oficer and again they didnt acepted me so finally i gave up when i was 35 today, im almost 45 on the next April 30 2020 if God wills but Now am a Jesús soldier.thanks to the great oportunity that Jehová has given me and the training Is been so good that i just have to share to the world that Our creator really loves us all a real Carrier as a Jehová witness
I couldn't finish the video that music is so loud
were you watching with your years couldn't you put down the volume?
I thought the guys would get haircuts this is awesome though I never knew about Marine cadets
Very funny😝😝😝. Best comedy scane. In India 10 year boys doing this ha ha 😂😂
Honestly, do what you're supposed to do, do it right, and do it the first time, you're golden
Could’ve done without the music
Lol watching this is hilarious and the speed or lack thereof
Thats my SDI, 2nd RTBN Golf Co.
I WISH we got to go to PI or SD.
46:19 check out the girl with the glasses' face lmao
Right around 57:00 is 90% of boot camp.
+Spencer Barrett (GrandmaMildred) lol why?
+Spencer Barrett (GrandmaMildred) yep
I remember when I went for rotc lol it was fun. That’s what made me join the service. Chose the army tho.. also when ur marching u can feel the barracks shake lol
How's the feeling so far? I'm also interested in joining the Forces
are the kids in full uniform amongst those who enlisted when they were 17 (or still in school)?
Can't help but notice how scantily clad half the kids are while the others heal to toe are probably sweating a layer of skin off.
