We used to have places of public education called "Museums" where everyone could enjoy pieces of history. Now the museums cant even outbid the private equity hogs gobbling up for their portfolios
What in the hell is this doing with Sotheby's? If it really is what they say it is, why isn't it in a museum? So this is now going to sit in some rich person's home, or in a vault, hoping for a better price from someone who is also a speculator? This is insane!
This isn't the REAL 10 commandments 😂 it's a Byzantine (post Christ) copy written in stone. The real ones are still in the Ark of the Covenant. But I do agree, anything that can bring attention and glory to God should be available for everyone to enjoy! You never know the buyer could be a museum 🤷🏼♂️
@@danndeelion Any historical artifact should be available to archeologists and the public, regardless of what religion, or how "original" the artifact is. Even a Byzantine copy is a possible source of knowledge of the past, which belongs to everyone.
I have several very old antiques, approximately 2,000 years old. If you know someone suitable who might be interested in purchasing them, or if you yourself are interested, I can send you photos so you can take a look.
The description states: "acquired by an anonymous buyer who plans to donate it to an institution"😀
The person who bought it will put it on a museum!
I can’t wait to see this! I hope the institution it ends up in is accessible to all!

Just what Moses imagined, Amazon Prime day for eternal human moral values.
I have mixed feelings about this. It belongs to the world.
no it doesn't
The buyer is donating it to an Israeli museum!!
It belongs to private collection ONLY
Yeah it belongs to the world. Accept if they found it in my backyard 😂
Yeah it belongs to the world. Except when they find it in my backyard 😂
Everyone needs to go read the provenance of this piece. It was a patio stone in someone courtyard!!!
Just imagine the person who inscribed these words and what it meant to them? 📝 at a time of upheaval 🌿
This is what makes free market awesome!
would be funny if this was written by a kid as punishment for stealing something and Bart was his name.
My country inherited a fictional small Bart(je), who refused to say a prayer over a poor meal of brown beans... 😊
Why even put on youttube, to watch someone else buy it.

O.K.
A museum can pay for it if they want it.
How do you think some museums buy their pieces?
How is 4.2 million equal to 5.04 million?
Fees.
I wish I had the money to buy this and I would donate it to our Parish Church.
Vastly more historically valuable than a banana taped to a board!
Imaging sleeping on the side of this tablet 😂

Ten Commandments, written by a desert-dwelling band of the superstitious. At least Moses could have taken them to a place that had oil.

you just made a sin by selling this ...
It's a good fake, I know the people who made it.
Do tell
