I have just bought a quad cortex and I'm amazed by how good the pitch shifter is, I used to have a Digitech Drop, and for me, QC is way way better than Digitech Drop
To my ears the Axe and drop was quite similar with the drop having aittle more highs and cut through in the mix. The qc had most highs and sounded most authentic. The surprise to me is that the drop was as good as it was being 130 euros. And this proves once again that the qc is a monster of a tool. Thank you for this video!
The distinction is pitch shifters is basically the latency when you play. These will all do good but the key is which is the fastest and feels the least lagging while playing.
Hi! Nice video! this is exactly what I was looking for. But I tought you were making Pinch Harmonics to hear the difference. I am really wonder if there is any issue with that. Thanks a lot for the vid!
The Quad Cortex sounds the best out of the bunch if you listen to just the isolated guitar parts, but it's not by much and you can only hear the difference once you get close to G. The differences are negligible. People can talk about artefacting and other differences, but the moment you go down 3 semitones or more, every pitch tuner artefacts if you look at under a microscope. In a well done mix, nobody can hear half the shoddy stuff that a lot of musicians are hiding in their music these days. You should have done a blind test where you tell us the results at the end. I guarantee nobody would be able to pick out the difference between them if you didn't tell us.
@@solicitudeofsound If I might suggest... with clean tone would be important to test the performances for various octaves... Artifacts happen sometimes differently for the various neck positions
Cool video! I think digi drop sounded most natural. Both modellers had some artifacts going. Not really audible with bass and drums, though. Fwiw I personally own a QC but would use a drop pedal if needed.
thank you so much. Are we starting to count where we are on tune or are we not counting where we are on tune? Example if we want change tuning to E standart to C standart will we turn knobs to -3 or -4 ?
On both my FOCAL monitors and my Beyerdynamic Studio cans, the Quad Cortex clearly is slightly broader and more realistic than the Fractal. The digitech doesnt cut it. mush.
Different ones for different reasons. I’ve been playing axe fx for the longest so it is what I am most use to. But I really love the quad cortex for the captures and ease of use. They both sound great and you can’t go wrong with either
@@BagusWibisono the amp models and fx are better on the axe fx. I take the quad cortex out for live use. more compact and you don’t need to purchase an additional foot controller. Also the qc is much easier to make quick edits on the fly
I think a true test would be playing live with a bass player I’ve done this with my quad and it was close enough to perfect. Bass player was tuned standard and I have a custom Warmoth tuned Two steps down to D Quads pitchshifter worked fine. Too many of these RUclips home studio tests are done alone in a room. Aren’t we all looking to jam with a few friends in a band situation
They don’t replicate the feel of detuned strings, that’s part of the lure of playing guitar imo , plus you’re learning a skill using alternative tunings, Ry cooder and the Rolling Stones would probably not approve 😻
The drop tune with digitech is way better and has less artifacts. The whammy pitch shifting of the digitech is also miles ahead of the qc. So many artifacts with the whammy qc is sad. I have both units so I’ve compare them extensively. Still have to use the digitech with my qc
Cq and drop pedal were both the best i think the cq was a little better but not by much hardly noticeable but the axe fx sounds like shit tonthe other 2 for sure
So glad I got the quad cortex. All my pedals are useless now. It’s perfect to use too.
Exactly ☝️
but i'm broke , really like the Neural software feel & sound like real amp
So what do we do with our other pedals now?
All I can say is... I heard this with HQ earbuds and was blown away at the difference. Cortex annihilated everything
I'm using my phone and can clearly hear how much better the Cortex is.

Thanks for that! Definitely very similar. The digi pedal seems very bass heavy where as the modellers seem to roll that off somehow.
I see what ya mean. Didn’t notice that lol
Digi and Quad are tonally similar - Axe FX isn't as wide. It is thinner. Digi/Quad are thicker and wider. Easy to hear on my system.

Very true

yes, a clean tone chording test would be nice!
The QC struggles with shifting up a full step and with clean tones. Artifacts make it almost unusable. Interested if any of the units can handle that
Really well done video man .. almost don’t even need down tuned guitars anymore lol

I just may👍
Tied for me on the Axe-Fx & QC; the Drop looses some high end.
definitely needed a clean tone comparison
I agree

Please do one, where you play Crunchy sounds with big chords, using multiple strings and articulation. Thanks!
Great video! Subbed 👌
🙏 that’s great input. I think I just might 👍

what thing of those 3 has the smallest latency??
Tbh I didn’t notice any difference between latency

Drop Tune the best
about the modelers, which one would you prefer buddy?

Does Axe fx 2 have pitch shifting?
It offers pitch effects but nothing for drop tunings like the virtual capo on the 3

Useless, the bigger issue is latency.and tracking, especially cleans
Virtual Jeff is better than all three
