Thanks very much, It was very fortunate that Evan was on hand to explain it all with a combination of the model and the full scale working machine the day I was filming.
Another Great Video. The New Zealand history is wonderful. The work was hard, with uneven results rarely turning into profits. Ironically in the United States outfitters like Levi Strauss made a better living off the miners than the hard rock miners did in finding ore.
Yes. There is a lot of romantic haze clouding the history. Everyone loves to read about the winners, but they were certainly not the majority and most of them weren't miners!
The difference is very impressive. Interestingly, I saw evidence of a similar reforestation in South Korea driven principally by the transition from wood to nuclear energy. ruclips.net/video/D41xXxioBtw/видео.html
My great grandfather George Edward Thom managed the mine called the Golden Calf. I have looked for records of this mine with little success other than what was put into a Thames Jubilee booklet more then 100 years ago.
Great video, would love to see one on mining in Waihi, currently work underground and frequently see tracks/ladders/wheel/timbers, very cool mining through historics
Great video with practical demonstrations and geologic context, the full package.
The Hauraki Prospectors Association have done an amazing job of putting that package together.
Thanks for sharing the Video of the Battery Stamp. I've thanked Evan on his channel too. Its the best explanation I've every seen on how they worked.

It’s great to see these examples of the great steam engineering of the day being restored and preserved.
Yes. They are doing a fantastic job of restoration and providing access for the public.
Great video Nick. Nice to see someone keeping the history alive.
Yes, and they are doing a great job of it. A really valuable resource for students today.

Yes , the best way to make a small fortune in mining is to start with a large fortune .
If you want to make a large fortune , mine the miners

Brilliant presentation, Nick. Big thanks for putting it together.
Thanks. It was literally a golden opportunity to try my hand at "mine style" videos. Hope I can do some more.
An excellent video many thanks
Thanks. Much appreciated.
Very interesting indeed. Thank you very much.
Thanks. I hope I can make more like this.
I need to sign up for your detailed lessons. I definitely need more geology.
1:18 Oh by gosh. Flash warning 😂
Thanks for another geology lesson. I learned so much in one watch, I’ll have to watch it again.
Thanks. It's a great place to learn.
Thank you for the video.
Thanks. Much appreciated.
Very informative and interesting!
... Glad Thames has reforested from those old days though

Excellent 👍
Great info. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Good video like to see the old machines working away steam engine sounds life of its own . huff huff whoomph whoomph
Yes. The sounds are quite hypnotic after a while. You can see wht the trains were such a popular way to travel.

Have you tried searching the database here: kaelewis.com/
Kae Lewis has done an amazing job of compiling historical records into a searchable form.

I have a vague plan to come back for a more geological video mission. NZ really is a gold mine of geology and history.
Your hands remind me of a ventriloquist doll 😅. Nice vid as always. I guess WW2 started in 1945 for Egypt
I just talk. The hands do their own thing ;)
3:40 Correction. The Second World War (1939-45) ended in 1945.
Thanks. I have added a card to note that. Alas the Audio cannot be changed after upload if multi languages are enabled.
@@GeologyUpSkill Minor detail. Great videos thanks!
It must have been a noisy town to live in. Be hard to hear the TV.
Underground would be the only quiet place!
