Wish my father was still alive to see this. He was at the RAF air station in Binbrook in the 1950s--that air station hosted, briefly, the remains of the dambuster squadron, and they were still flying Lancasters in the 1950s. Along with actually being in the RAF (as a radio technician), he was an aeromodeller. Just a beautiful job.
Looks great! Seems quite floaty though, will need to go a lot faster for skimming a bomb on water I think. Will probably also need extremely smooth water, even small ripples will represent sizeable waves at this scale.
Nice to see 'young' guys in the hobby using new technology and materials. For many 'older generation' in the hobby if its not made from bits of balsa tree its "not a real model". Well done!
I just came here from Tom's channel. What an immensely entertaining video series, Congratulations on a well thought out and executed collaboration, Cheers
I’ve been watch your show and truly enjoying it. I love to see younger people working hard at solving problems and enjoying it. I enjoyed your bit on firing rockets from an airplane. You my find that the smallest size motor will work better. Being old enough to be your grandfather I have to admit it makes me want to get back out there and build some more again. We had rubber bands or gas that’s it. Thanks from Ohio USA.
Great vid. Bit of dejavu but was discussing the möhne damn with my brother earlier. We used to live there and its impressive when your standing there imagining a big hold in it.
Lovely job on the design and build! There’s something special about seeing a Lanc-even a model-flying over the English countryside. Here’s to Episode 2; may dams be busted!
Yeah there will be plans on my website when they’re finished up. It might be a Vintage Model Co kit and a Flite Test kit at some point, we shall see. 😊
For me the funniest bit was calling it an "emulsion". As if somehow, giving poopy, sticky mud a scientific name makes it less messy and gross. I remember seeing a documentary on this bit of history and how fascinating it was. Cool to see a recreation of it.
So funny - "hmmmm, how do we get this thing through the door...". Hope you have as much fun with the next part. Might be wise to de-power that thing a bit though - and thereby get longer flights too
Nice job on foaming up the Lancaster Bomber. Perhaps you could submit the build plans to the FliteTest Community, and by the next FliteTest festival there'll be a squadron Lancaster's in the air.
James, I've been watching your work from your days of modifying David Windestahl's FT Spitfire. You make great stuff! Keep doing the cool things you do.
Ok, the bouncing bomb mission is super cool, but you should revisit the fpv cockpit video you had done with the twin engine bomber you had a while back but now with the lancaster, that would be so cool! Maybe even with an fpv bombsight :)
i hope you're going to give it the paint job it deserves.... great work guys... now all you need is a squadron of those spitfires you have on the wall forming up with it :D
Hi I've just subscribed and I have already whatched at least a dozen of your Awesome videos. Keep up the excellent work. Kind regards Paul Rawcliffe from Perth Western Australia 🇦🇺.
you captured the style and grace pretty well considering the modest construction technique........talking of which....since you have the entire spec on file....why not develop and refine it slightly and supply a few kits, which you can run off your laser cutter and printer? :) - maybe reducing the ply construction in nacelles to lighter form....reducing the scale fying speed still further / allowing adequate power pack size - i only dipped into your videos and saw results - could you do a mk2 with: gps / other ways of locking in required release height plus adding gyro flywheels to 'bombs' (or is that already done?) - rudimentary landing gear or folding props would help landings, lighter weight release mechanism (carbon?) lookin forward to possible future for this project as suggested :)
How heavy are you making the bomb (you obviously want sufficient momentum) & will you be back-spinning it prior to drop? It would be great to see two strong focused led lights for beam convergence at the right altitude. Good luck 🤞 👍.
I'm looking forward to plans for this wonderful aircraft. Any chance you could convince Tom to 3d print a nose tail and top turret and share the files ?
So in Ohio.... Josh has said several times on FT videos the Lancaster us one of his favorites. Epic build Gentlemen! Less glamorous, but the world needs a laser cut Stirling.
So stoked for part two! :D
Get subbed everyone!

@@Project-Air What a great idea, James! Just don't forget to bring the wings to put them on Simons' boat :-)

Same.
You two had that purple colour between red and blue that the people has just before having hypothermia 😂😂😂
Here it is called fertilizer.
The better it smells the better the results - next spring.
Great work, Gents. When shall we be seeing your collaboration on recreating "The Disney Bomb?" 😉🖖
It's so nice to see a model flying at a reasonable scale speed. It's majestic.

Ramy...I'm missing your videos my friend!
Soon man! 😁
That Lancaster Bomber glides in the air even at low rpm..Just wow!!! Fantastic build.

Great model... well done!
Please offer it as a flat pack laser cut kit...
An episode with Tom Stanton?! Immediate Thumbs Up!
I just came here from Tom's channel. What an immensely entertaining video series,
Congratulations on a well thought out and executed collaboration, Cheers
This was an EPIC build project! Your skills were on display landing on that tiny runway!
Looked like it was hovering in the wind there. Magical. Your ancient rural roads look like American golf cart paths!
Came from Toms channel and now will stay here

Chilly and uncomfortable but, visually, what a beautiful setting! Great plane and great shooting too. Thanks.
Came from Toms vid, stayed and subbed for your awesome channel. Love it. Keep it up.

The Lancaster flies really well and looks stunning in flight, paint it up James and make a cockpit.
Tom's like, "Stop talking, I'm trying to get some good shots with the Mavic" Hahaha!
Great video guys!
Looks gorgeous and floats like a feather.

☺️ It was pretty majestic
Omg, it flies so scale, when that’s painted it’s going to look awesome!!!
Stunning job Jimmy Jim!
Absolutely awesome guys, nice scale speed and looks, flies on rails. Hats off to you👍👍👍
Awesome vid James! This gonna come out as plans maybe? I could see this as a very popular flite test kit!
Yes it would,go for it.

Awesomeness Factor...off the scale!!! Well done guys!
Great project. Any chance of the plans for the Lancaster? It flies amazing
your music playlist is amazing as usual
What an amazingly flawless first flight! Well done, lads!
I enjoy your videos so much. You show a joy that anyone would envy. Good job.
Wow. That is beautiful. I thought I wanted a Spit but now ...
It's a beautiful model. Not just because it's still pure white, flying over a sea of muck :o)
Amazing, once you've done Dambusters, modify with standard bomb bay doors and get it to drop poppies. ❤
That baby flies, well like a Lancaster! Smooth and strong!

Pretty amazing job, guys! It's looking amazing already!!! 😃
Looking forward to part 2!!! 😃
A piece of history reborn,brilliant

Im surprised that your surprised at how well it flys. The Lancaster is brilliant design.
That is a gorgeous Lanc, even as a rough build.
Awesome build! Could you please make a build kit for this? I would 100% buy one
Look forward to see the finished project👍🏻

Tell me about that giant spitfire - PLEASE! I live on a boat with precious little space - but I must have one!
