- Learn how to use the new Direct File tool from the IRS! This pilot program allows people with simple tax needs to electronically file federal tax returns FOR FREE directly through the IRS.
Only 12 states qualify as of now: Arizona, California, Florida, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming.

The program is available in both English and Spanish.

As an Oregonian, I can't use this tool yet, but I look forward to the day when it rolls out to our state. Being a long-time software engineer, I am pleased to see the approach of a gradual rollout with continuous improvement (what is referred to as the Agile methodology); that is exacty the approach that is needed for a system of this importance and scale. A huge thank to *all* involved in securing funding , developing, and supporting this program to roll out this necessary and long overdue convenience to taxpayers. And thanks to Merici Vinton of the IRS, Rep AOC (the best Rep in the House, as far as I'm concerned), and Rene' Castellanos for providing this webinar.

so what do i do if everytime i resubmit my documents to the ID.Me app they keep rejecting my documents like my coned bill and drivers lic. that has a different address because I recently moved event though I listed my new address with DMV. this is putting me closer to the filling deadline and causing me more confusion and frustration, please advise.
