- Individual Throttle Bodies... What are they all about?
Instead of having one throttle body that controls airflow to your engine, you get a throttle body for each cylinder! Therefor removing the restriction of airflow and allowing a lot more air to your engine. And you know how it goes: More air = more fuel = more power!
Is it worth it tho? Thats the true question. If you're looking for just a small power gain, ITBs are a great option, plus they look great too! But if you want that good power, then you're best to dive into forced induction or simply a bigger engine.
If you like E30s then check out the rest of our channel, we got lots of helpful tech guides plus a build series on our own LS3 swapped E30! (In our case the ITBs were not worth it...lol)

Your canadian humor is hilarious
Lol ouch
@@slightlyMADcustoms Just be yourself mate, he's just another hater.
He said at the end of the day.... IS THIS A FITMENT INDUSTRIES VID!!???
This way of explanation should be added on every school or college
I think you might be right on the ITB's, I think the S54 would be choking around 300hp without ITB's.
Martini is a wino Very true! With the M division wanting to keep their cars naturally aspirated (at the time), ITBS was their best shot at upping the S54s volumetric efficiency.
Itbs are for improving engine response not making high horsepower. In and out of traffic response quick off the mark response. Like autocross racing.
And GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGHHHHH noises
@@slightlyMADcustoms and on the rev limiter waaaatat- tat-tat-tat-tat - droorrrtt!!
Ye ye
you could add cold air filter, every 10C is around 3bhp loss, so you can even lose power with itbs. Also diameter and length are important too. Too big tube would rob engine from power nonetheless its comfy video
The thing about mods that make your car louder is that they give you much worse fuel economy.
The car performs the same, but it makes you floor it everywhere.
i disagree, straight pipe exhausts give you power because of less restriction of exhaust flow. it works the same way. the harder time your engine has while intaking air and disposing exhaust gas the less power it will make. and if you really care about fuel economy buy a prius lmao
More air = more fuel = more power
Canadian humor is no laughing matter
only reason I subbed is bc I like your style.
Immediately hit like after the mom joke
Your hilarious 😊 Very fun to watch.
Liked soon as I heard 🇨🇦
20-30HP from ITB's? I don't know what you're on about but you don't get anywhere near that kind of a gain from them, they're most commonly used to move the power around the rev band depending on trumpet length.
You're right. Definitely depends on the engine and everything, but matching up some slightly bigger more efficient injectors with our ITBs, thats the gain that we saw.
more airflow = more powah (with a decent tune ofc)
Mantenner with an N/A build build the shit outta your head/heads deck, port and polish bigger valves etc that’s where you’ll get the most bang for your buck especially with a ITB set up
Best video ever. I got a e36 vert with m50. Just got a e30 m10 inline 4 cylinder. And my next one has to be the bmw 2002. Like the orange one
This guy reminds me of The guy from Fitment industries
They win off sound and throttle response alone
i say pause after ''sucks in a good way''
That Trump Canada joke is gonna trigger sum dummies 😂
I want itb’s but i want turbos too, what do I do if
I want both
You can do both. The smoother the flow of air the more power you will make. So while the turbo is cranking out the pressure, the itbs will help with flow
Which wheels are on the car
Those are ATS cups
thanks bro
That first joke hurt me man
Keep posting
yo sell me the itb kit hahaha, id follow suit on your ls3 build if I had an extra 30k on hand but ill settle for some cool itb noises
I would sell them to you but they’re long gone! Def a fun mod tho
“But....I’m stupid” lolll
What are those wheels on the e30 😍
ATS cups!
@@slightlyMADcustoms amazing 👏🏼
nice video
Yoooooo. Subbed.
No issues driving with them unfiltered?
They should be filtered for sure 😂
Nice cars!
What ECU did you use?
MSPNP mega squirt
Pretty funny guy i must say
good video broo.
I heard it uses more fuel on the E30. Is that true?
Absolutely. If you’re getting more air to the engine, you’ll need more fuel to balance it out
@@slightlyMADcustoms makes sence. Can you giv an estimate? Is it a lot? How much fuel are we talking about? I live in Europe and enviormental tax on fuel down here is crazy.
If you drive normally you’ll basically be the same as stock fuel consumption. But once you start letting those trumpets sing you can easily go through 60L in a evening or two. Sorry hard for me to put a exact number on it. Lots of variables
@@slightlyMADcustoms Ok nice. Yeah sure no problem! That already was a lot of info! Cool video and thanks for the quick info! I prefer them because they look so cool. The tech is old but i like old stuff and the way these trumpets look just has something to it. Also i am tired of turbo swapping everything on this planet. That might be my next project. Keeping it all natural.
Ya it’s pretty unique! Really cleans up the engine bay
Good talk 🤣
20 to 30 hp? thats a fucking lot
With ITB's, how work your ignition advance ?
jo AboutaGirl If your ignition runs off an ECU, advance can be adjusted there. There’s no simple answer on how to set ignition advance for your car because it depends on your specific mods, engine condition, and elevation. I would recommend contacting a local tuning shop or reading some online guides for more info.
Who the fuck are you and how have I just stumbled across you?? Great content!
I want itb's but i have e60 with n52b30.. what now? XD
There is a upgraded intake manifold for n52s! Looks like it adds a pretty decent amount of power especially when paired with a cold air intake and tune
@@slightlyMADcustoms you mean the dual disa oem optiion? Mine has that stock
Oh! Well never mind haha.
@@slightlyMADcustoms thanks anyway bruh.
How do itb's work with cold/hot air? Would you want to run a hood vent or something so that the air going to the engine isn't all hot?
Ya a hood vent would be a nice way to add cold air. Another option is to make a air box off the ITBS to pull cool air
@@slightlyMADcustoms ok cool, btw this is in my recommended so it should be in alot of other peoples. You guys do great work!
Very cool! Thanks so muc!
Did you run a standalone ecu? If so what brand?
Yes i did. Megasquirt PNP
how about at low rpm city driving?
Drives like a normal car with normal fuel economy. But once you let those trumpets sing, they play the sweet melody of shit fuel economy
@@slightlyMADcustoms 😂.. thats obvious...... btw...how does it control rpm idle?
There’s still a idle control valve. All the trumpets are interconnected to a vacuum block
@@slightlyMADcustoms thanks for info...
No worries……..
Do you Canadians get a discount on syrup?
You just go out to the maple tree and get it for free! Duh
slightlyMADcustoms damn you right
Doesnt make that much of a difference he says, you clearly havent owned an m44 😂
If I run ITB's could I drill holes in the intake ports and run a single stage of dry nitrous? Looking to run a 50 shot on a b series Honda.
I believe so yes. You’d just want to ensure the nitrous goes evenly to all cylinders so the engine stays nice and balanced. No piston pushing harder than the other. Sounds like fun!
You can build ITBs from motorcycle intakes that can be bought off eBay cheaply. Look for GSXR 600. They have dual injectors so you can run a wet nitrous system on the secondary injectors.
@@slightlyMADcustoms that was the only thing I was thinking, just getting the distance and from the head equal so there's minimal difference from when it hits

I'm thinking of doing a diy job, should be pretty cheap and fun to do.
The only thing I'm worried about is that I've heard some horror stories about survere torque loss.
Was this true for you?
Stupid Scruff it’s hard to say for sure because we never had the car on the dyno before installing the ITBs. But I remember the torque number being quite similar to the HP number so I would say no
@@slightlyMADcustoms Cool. I was wondering if it was down to the fact these people were fitting them without Maf sensors etc or not having them mapped in.
I take it all that was done for you?
Stupid Scruff Having it properly tuned is a huge factor for sure! For our set up we did not run a MAF, and tuned the engine off TPS and MAP
@@slightlyMADcustoms awesome, thanks. How did the economy suffer? I mean how much worse 😂
Stupid Scruff oh haha it was awful 😂 the sound of the ITBs at WOT was too beautiful

1602 orange?
Oscar Macedo Inka orange 2002!
@@slightlyMADcustoms very good
are your moms worth it
Yes ❤️
Do u need a tune for itbs?
LKRG If you run your ITB set up without a mass air flow sensor on a engine that previously had a mass air flow sensor, you need to tune the ECU to run off either throttle position, or manifold pressure. If your engine already runs off throttle position or manifold pressure, then you would might be able to get away without a tune, but your air fuel mixtures might be off and you won’t make as much power or run as efficiently. Another option is to run your ITBs into a plenum so that you can still run a MAF
