This is such a great video of not only capturing Fred looking and playing his best and the crowd egging him on but also SO good to hear Pat Summerall and Ben Wright, who along with Gary McCord, Jim Nance and Ken Venturi made the CBS broadcasts the best ever. Thanks, Adam.
Love this video! Fred returned from his back injury about a month before this…at a FOP charity event in Dearborn, MI. I got his autograph that day. Brings back fond memories. My favorite era of pro golf!
He always walks the course with a quiet confidence knowing "I Got This". During the late 80's and throughout the 90's the players I wanted to watch were Fred Couples, Davis Love lll and Payne Stewart... 🏌️♂️
Yea, he found that inner confidence from his swing. Couples, Davis & Payne, there is really no need to watch anyone else. Modern swins are just too mechanical..
I bet Butch Harmon was shaking his head when he started helping Freddy back in the day... He had him setting up with the clubhead a foot behind the ball, getting a head start on the takeaway, he even played some rounds like that.

I could watch hours of this. The greatest, smoothest golf swing of all time.
Fred Couples for President. We can use somebody like that right now
Unfortunately normal people don't run for president :(
@@billbright100 No one in this thread said who they voted for.
@@billbright100 Wrong. Did not vote for Biden.
These two guys in the comment section are weird af.

Dude that smack. The sound of perfect ball contact

true. everything these days is “for the gram”..... gosh i miss balata and persimmon
@@o_Juffo_o i agree
Does Fred Couples ever get nervous? It seems like he's hitting on an isolated beach after having some cocktails. Just as loose as a goose.
He was known to be cool as a cucumber.
I love that thud sound when he crushed that golf ball 😆
It’s more like a thwack but it’s pure
His swing is amazing !
What a super great video what a money swing. 2 iron? Ithey don't even make 2 irons anymore..
the Lynx visor…..Classic Calm Cool Collective Cashmere Couples ❤️🎤
Look how open his stance is
He played a fade. His swing path was a little in-out relative to his stance, but he still cut across it with slightly open face.
He’d also play draws. He’d aim more straight and release the hands through impact more instead of ripping through it with the hips
That 2 iron at the beginning, sounded like towel being torn in half. Still probably only 220-230 with the wound balata.
😂😂
Joey Lacava lookin like a darn near kid in this
Freddy’s swing is butter 🧈
This is Great. Thanks for posting. How did you find this footage? I've always wanted to see some of the final round of the 94 Buick.
Cant remember where, but PGA Champions Tour on Instagram has it and a lot more..
Smooooooth freddy
The “CADILLAC” man. I’ve always called him.
Nobody ever had a cooler attitude toward the game
That's a big divot for 2 iron
pure
So easy.
Boas Jogadas
It looks like the club and his arms just drop and the ball launches
His left foot is a lot further back than most players. I guess that helps open the hips

@@o_Juffo_o I can see how that would teach how to stay on plane. Freddy has a pretty steep swing path naturally
@@warrenranstrom4462 Out to in, across the line = steep lol, looks cool tho and is powerful. There is no one way to play golf
What tournament was this?
Buick Open from Warwick Hills, near Flint, MI. 1994
so I guess he didn't come over it on 18 as Venturi said
He was all over it 😆
0:09 The impact sound on that first 2 iron sounded like a fake slap sound from a cartoon 😂
