I think your calculations about Standoff are quite wrong. You get 500% of your movement speed. Meaning 5 time your Movement Speed %, 25% movement Speed would translate into 125% increased damage, not multiple thousands. Still going Barb though this season!
Yes you are correct! I ran the numbers on this build a week or two ago, hadn't planned to mention that particular number in the video, but then as I got to it, I decided to throw it in, and forgot the "proper" math. My bad!
Paragon can't increase your move speed above the 25% cap for gear. So it doesn't do anything to increase it to 25 if you have move speed on your boots and stuff. All the abilities DO stack above that 25% cap, so they're still good.
Gloweye but you shouldn't have move speed on your boots (or any other items), because generally rolling that away will give you more than what the paragon points required to get 25% could get you. Every build should max paragon move speed, always.
Also just wanted to note Rhykker you've basically helped me tackle the immensely complicated world of D3 within a couple months just from watching your videos! Now i'm the one helping noobs in-game : )
I still watch every video you release even though I can't play any of these games anymore after moving country. Sad days. Your content is the last link to the fun I used to have playing Diablo. Keep it up my dude, thanks!
Hey Rhykker, I just wanted to say ty for putting together such detailed guides. From the gear overview, D3Planner, skills, and everything it really helps someone like myself who is just starting to gear a charge barb. I appreciate the effort!
Ok, I might be wrong about that, so feel free to correct me but having ressource cost reduction in your Paragon Point isn't going to change anything since Ancient Spear Boulder Toss is going to spend all of your ressource anyway. If anything, it's actually beneficial : you're spending less ressource on the skill itself, which means more ressource is spent on top of the actual skill cost, which means more damage.
good vid as usual, rhkk. In playing around with this build, at least for me, I actually like using bane of the powerful over wreath and use strongarms instead of parthan defenders. The extra dmg and reduc for elites on bane helps keep me in boss fights enough where i can also utilize strongarms for overall more damage as I push and now being able to much more easily kill boss packs, it's made a world of difference for my clear times. I'm 1202 para and cleared a 97 today with almost 4:30 left. My gear is pretty good and only a few augments. Cheers
I picked up Diablo 3 not to long ago and I am loving this game. I recently picked up a 5th piece of Wastes set for the Barb and my whirlwind build is more than halfway done. So excited to actually do damage to enemies and ascend the GR levels as well as Torment levels
5:25 500% of 25% isn't 12500% (x126) but 125% bonus damage (x2.25). With the 110% MS from this build it's 550% (x6.5), and not 55 000% (x 551). It would be too strong ^^
Standoff doesn't increase MS by 500% (+25% + 5*+25% = +150%) and add this multiplier to your damage, but it takes 500% of your MS (5*+25% = +125%) and then applies the multiplier to your damage. 500% = x5 +500% = x6
The magical 37% cooldown reduction enables the barbarian to Furious Charge into a minimum of 3 monsters and still get a charge back. So I'd recommend having 8% cooldown on shoulders, gloves and a ring. With a Diamond in your helmet and 10% from paragon points. This really helps to keep charging forward without pause. The only number of mobs you want to avoid is 2.
Just a quick note, the Wreathe of Lightning actually does A LOT of damage due to the 1500% All Damage modifier we get form the 6pc IK bonus. It is not your top source, but it is 4-5% of your overall damage which is quite a bit.
6:20 Doesn't it kind of matter? Since your Ancients are lighting type with the TOA rune, shouldn't we also just get Lightning optimally on our bracer to increase their damage? Technically, Wreath of Lightning should minimally benefit from this as well.
Hey Rhykker. I think you got the damage bonus wrong for Standoff. Its 500% of your movement speed. So say you have 25% bonus speed its the 25% that's multiplied so it would be more like 125% bonus damage. I hope this helps someone as that 12000% you mentioned at 5:30 is actually 125 bonus from standoff
I get that the Ancient Parthan Defenders adds to your survivability, but in a set that revolves around WotB with the IK set, why not stick a Mortick's Brace there to get every rune on WotB as well?
I like that the build doesn't require the use of Focus and Restraint anymore - although you could use it and be a totally glassy wimp. Now going with BoM is just better because you must have the damage reduction, and for the highest pushing you still have to use Esoteric. There's still the issue with this particular build that you run out of charges - especially if you spawn an RG that produces pets, you might as well just back out regardless of how much time you've got left. There just isn't always enough density, even in a GR95+ to keep up the charges, and I hate rift fishing. Its just terrible. I don't know how this gets resolved, and it probably never will.
Lol i was a necromancer corpse lance build for both tragoul and pestilence set but they are so boring however the damage are very good. Rathma dps is probably the best but the mages do not really target want you want which is down vote. I just tried this barbarian build. Fresh character just few hours ago and get the require items .... I am now playing much more faster and better than my rathma necromancer... and no need to rely on the cooldown to get corpse lance at all
It's true for most people. Fan of knife or trag'oul are trash tier for most players, but when you talk about ladders, the build difficulty doesn't change anything. So guys, don't use the top build if you don't like it, you would probably do better with the 2nd best.
When I was using this build, I switched to 3 in and 5 raekor and did around 2 billion more, then I switched to full raekor and did about 10 billion more
So if you recharge the charge that was previously the recharged charge. Does the charge recharge or does the previous charge recharge the second charge that was just recharged?
hey Rhykker, is this build still viable? i have alot of the items you say but have a good focus and restraint? could that be used? as i have 6 piece Immortal and some Raekor? appreciate the help and keep up the good work! ps coming back to D3 after sum time away
Can someone explain to me why should i put literally 0 points into resource cost reduction ? i get why you should max it last but i dont get why you shouldnt put ANY points in it i mean yeah you want to get rid of all of your fury as soon as possible but boulder toss gets rid of all of it in one button press so the amount of resource cost reduction you have doesnt matter also since this build has bonus damage when you are near full fury wouldnt it actually be good to have RCR (resource cost reduction) ? the sprint and the battle rage all cost fury even tho its a little amount maybe if you use both of them in a quick succession it might mean your next furious charge doesnt deal as much dmg as it could maybe im totally wrong so that is why im writing here if anyone could explain the logic to me because i literally cant see how it could be harmful to the build in any sort of way
I believe that since the cost of Boulder toss is all your fury, you wouldn't dump a percentage of fury equal to your rcr%. Less fury dumped equates to less damage and life returned from fury spent.
so why would you use the immortal kings set instead of getting the insane boulder toss damage from raekors, works with groups and makes rift guardian significantly easier to take down
another patch just happened bul kathos swords get 15/45 now and a bunch of other sets and gear got rebuffed and a few nerfs like pestilence set corpse dmgs now reduced
I understand that this is the overall best S12 barb build, but I'm lazy... Would the loss of speed and GR be really significant if I use HotA instead, because I would like to be competitive on the Leaderboard as well ?
Little bit of a shame that this mixed set is so demanding of equipment slots. Prevents you from using things like Vile Ward or Chilinik's Chain for further speed boosts (or direct boosts to FC in the case of Vile Ward). Though you could conceivably swap convention of elements for Rechel's ring of larceny and Battle Rage for the shout that inflicts fear for another speed boost. Ive been surprised at how many options the barbarian has to increase its movement speed. Besides sprint, Chilinik's Chain and Rechel's Ring turn the two shouts into speed boosts, as well as runes on Battle Rage, WotB, and Ignore Pain can all increase movement speed.
I have a question: how do you increase the base damage stat (that number in the inventory)? Is it purely based on gear or if I play around with skills and passives etc. it will help? I'm not talking about like 2k additional damage, I was browsing leaderboards, saw a barb with a very similar build to mine, but he had 2+ million base damage where as I have around 400k.
It’s super close right now honestly it comes down to which one you can play better personally, and which you have better gear for. Try building both. On leaderboards #1 is charge and #2 is Raekor HOTa. They both are difficult to run unfortunately, but that’s the trade.
Doesnt battle rage-bloodshed also benefit from +%phys on gear? Making phys the obvious option, unless this got changed at some point. Any reason you're going fire charge?
Bloodshed deal 20% of critical damage dealt, so it doesn't deal damage by itself. It means that no matter what element you choose, it won't effect bloodshed directly You can go with any element as charge gets every runes. The element is chosen regarding your highest elemental bonus.
Thats not how it used to work, Since its labeled as a physical skill it used to get the 20% of crit damage, and then multiply that number by your phys%, idk if they fixed it yet or not, but thats how it used to work, allowing phys to 'double-dip' it in a way.
Oh, double diping has been patched a long time ago, in 2.5 or even before. Now you can use any element for this particular build, depending on how good your items are
Bane of the Powerful actually is better than Wrath of Lightening, due to the multiplicity nature of damage calculation. If equip Wrath of Lightening, bonus movement speed can increase from 85% (25% + berserk 20% + marathon 40%) to 110%, implying a 5.25x damage vs. 6.5x damage, equivalent to 23.8% increase in overall damage. However, Bane of the Powerful gives 35% more damage to elites, and 15% dmg reduction too.
My hellfire amulet passiv doesnt seem to be working. I got the Boon of Bul-Kathos one which is supposed to reduce me CD on wrath of the berserker by 30 seconds.. But its not, I took time how long it to to recharge and its stills 120 seconds, it should be 90 seconds. Am i doing something wrong? and if so, please help.
Rhykker (or any new Barb charger user) please help a console user, I started my first Barb for Season 12, a couple questions - what attack causes STUN effects to justify the bracer? - How do I time the boulder throw to recharge Berzerker? - Where do I farm a Band of Might? Whether console or PC, we're all gamers at heart and we all started on Atari 2600 and Commadore 64 so hopefully some good folks can help. I already do GR55 without optimized gear so I'm doing something right.
Thank you, I thought no one would reply. I like Charge Barb but under paragon 1000 it seems too risky because one wrong charge or missed boulder toss ruins everything and hard to recover.
No it's not better than bloodshed. It's pretty minor compared to the amount of crit damage you're doing and then 20% of that. Especially in big groups, it's just massive.
great video rhykker, as ever. barb looks so incredibly dull may it be the whirlwind barb or the charge barb.. compared to other more complex builds and classes at least.
Hey Rhykker can I ask you some stuff I made this build and I’m pretty set up not the best but not horrible, issue is I’m stuck at GR 78 for season I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong
there's been a couple people asking about what the transmog is so i figured i'd chime in It's called the Grim Reaper and you get it by buying the reaper of souls collectors edition or digital deluxe edition according to the d3 wiki here: diablo.wikia.com/wiki/Grim_Reaper
My bad!

500% is not 5 times more dmg, its 6 times more dmg.
100% = double
200% = triple
300% = quadruple
400% = quintuple
500% = sextuple
Also just wanted to note Rhykker you've basically helped me tackle the immensely complicated world of D3 within a couple months just from watching your videos! Now i'm the one helping noobs in-game : )
Cheers! Glad I could help :)

I can't express how happy I am charge barb is back! I've never disliked a build more than spin to win.
Why? Whats wrong with tornado-ing your way through the hoards super fast?
I picked up Diablo 3 not to long ago and I am loving this game. I recently picked up a 5th piece of Wastes set for the Barb and my whirlwind build is more than halfway done. So excited to actually do damage to enemies and ascend the GR levels as well as Torment levels
5:25 500% of 25% isn't 12500% (x126) but 125% bonus damage (x2.25). With the 110% MS from this build it's 550% (x6.5), and not 55 000% (x 551). It would be too strong ^^
Yep I did some quick math that I hadn't planned to include in the video and made a math oops!
It's 150% bonus damage, 500% = 6x, not 5x (multiplicative with IK and Raekor and whatever).
Standoff doesn't increase MS by 500% (+25% + 5*+25% = +150%) and add this multiplier to your damage, but it takes 500% of your MS (5*+25% = +125%) and then applies the multiplier to your damage.
500% = x5
+500% = x6
Nice!!! I wanna see more Witch Doctor builds!! Really like your guides bro :)
1:33 I came for a cool build, I stayed for cool background music
The magical 37% cooldown reduction enables the barbarian to Furious Charge into a minimum of 3 monsters and still get a charge back. So I'd recommend having 8% cooldown on shoulders, gloves and a ring. With a Diamond in your helmet and 10% from paragon points. This really helps to keep charging forward without pause. The only number of mobs you want to avoid is 2.
you gotta love "and that wraps up this guide!":D
Oh my god! Rhykker giving Chainer a shoutout! Me like! Respect man!
LOL @ 11:08 . That is some good stuff!
Well I tested it out myself and now I think I am going to start season 12 with it. Then use it to farm. Thanks!
Just a quick note, the Wreathe of Lightning actually does A LOT of damage due to the 1500% All Damage modifier we get form the 6pc IK bonus. It is not your top source, but it is 4-5% of your overall damage which is quite a bit.

Hey Rhykker, you should make a video with a tier list builds like you did in 11season. Keep up the good work.
He already said before that he will as we get closer to the new season and patch and there are no more buffs or nerfs coming.
I know its quite a task but could you also give a brief rundown of the fastest T13 builds? Like your tierlist for GR builds
Does cost reduction matter at all when youre still spending it all in one shot anyway? You still get the full health per fury spent, right?
Hey Rhykker. I think you got the damage bonus wrong for Standoff. Its 500% of your movement speed. So say you have 25% bonus speed its the 25% that's multiplied so it would be more like 125% bonus damage. I hope this helps someone as that 12000% you mentioned at 5:30 is actually 125 bonus from standoff
woo! really excited for this. Do we know what sets are the freebies this season?
This build is the reason I'am gonna farm like crazy in S12 !
Would it be possible to see a Tal Frozen Orb build any time soon?
How would u build this to season 22 i have always loved charge build its my favorite
Great guide
Hey Rhykker, This is folks ♥
I get that the Ancient Parthan Defenders adds to your survivability, but in a set that revolves around WotB with the IK set, why not stick a Mortick's Brace there to get every rune on WotB as well?
Love the channel
Rhykker is my favorite D3 streamer.
Im so eager for this patch to launch!
Probably inside of two weeks
Do you need the constantly spinning wheel on the mouse to get quicker charges?
Did you record this video before the buff yesterday to the bul-kathos swords?
I like that the build doesn't require the use of Focus and Restraint anymore - although you could use it and be a totally glassy wimp. Now going with BoM is just better because you must have the damage reduction, and for the highest pushing you still have to use Esoteric. not saying youre wrong but isnt it better to just use immortal kings with hammer of the anicents and two powers to buff it even more?
Ty mate for the guide, finilly i can get 70 portal! Ty so much.
I am now playing much more faster and better than my rathma necromancer... and no need to rely on the cooldown to get corpse lance at all
I think the main thing that could hold this build back in the tier list is how difficult it is to play.
Airmanon irony?
Tralx ?
It's true for most people. Fan of knife or trag'oul are trash tier for most players, but when you talk about ladders, the build difficulty doesn't change anything.
So guys, don't use the top build if you don't like it, you would probably do better with the 2nd best.
Airmanon How hard on console?
Can i ask, what is the name of weapon you hold? for example very start of video. Thanks.
Thanks again!
When I was using this build, I switched to 3 in and 5 raekor and did around 2 billion more, then I switched to full raekor and did about 10 billion more
What's easier to use to farm for other sets trags or nats?
what's your opinion on the spender version with 6raeko anr 4 IK???
But could you do Crusader shotgun build too plz.
Which would be higher priority 50% chd or 20% AD on a ring for this build?
So if you recharge the charge that was previously the recharged charge. Does the charge recharge or does the previous charge recharge the second charge that was just recharged?
hahaha
Both
tempting to roll a barb this season to play ww again rly miss pre ros ww but i think im still gonna roll a dh
I am so sick of Convention of Elements. They're the ring version of Archon.
Don't use it then.
just use stone of jordan instead
You can use Nagelring.
It's always Compass Rose or Covention, almost without exception. Boring as hell.
use SOJ and get 20% element at all times and 30% elite at all times
It a furious charge/hota build!
Rhykker, will you play Nioh when it comes to PC? :)
I am sorry for my ignorance but which build is better - full raekor build or this one?? Thank you
Right now they’re basically equal. Comes down to skill and also what you have better gear for. Like if you got Primal Istvans to drop then go R6 lol.
Hey what’s the name of the barn god on twitch? And btw thanks for all the great videos greatly helps
whats the weapon transmog? that shit is cool.
hey Rhykker, is this build still viable? i have alot of the items you say but have a good focus and restraint? could that be used? as i have 6 piece Immortal and some Raekor? appreciate the help and keep up the good work! ps coming back to D3 after sum time away
Still viable, yep!
Rhykker ok cool, so just utilise the same skills etc and would that work? Really wanna push GRifts
Why not max fury on paragon if you spend all anyway whit your ancient spear???
Can someone explain to me why should i put literally 0 points into resource cost reduction ? i get why you should max it last but i dont get why you shouldnt put ANY points in it
i mean yeah you want to get rid of all of your fury as soon as possible but boulder toss gets rid of all of it in one button press so the amount of resource cost reduction you have doesnt matter
also since this build has bonus damage when you are near full fury wouldnt it actually be good to have RCR (resource cost reduction) ? the sprint and the battle rage all cost fury even tho its a little amount maybe if you use both of them in a quick succession it might mean your next furious charge doesnt deal as much dmg as it could
maybe im totally wrong so that is why im writing here if anyone could explain the logic to me because i literally cant see how it could be harmful to the build in any sort of way
I believe that since the cost of Boulder toss is all your fury, you wouldn't dump a percentage of fury equal to your rcr%. Less fury dumped equates to less damage and life returned from fury spent.
is this really better than 6p raekor, 300 spear in cube and boulder toss?
so why would you use the immortal kings set instead of getting the insane boulder toss damage from raekors, works with groups and makes rift guardian significantly easier to take down
hey rhykker this is folks!
it's a shame there isn't a way we can get echoing fury into the build, the increased movement speed would be insane.
Is there any good legendary amulet in this game thay is useful beside hellfire? this game lacks so much variety
Any immunity amulet, like Mara for poison. Etlich has a nice 30% ranged damage reduction if you can find a good one.
another patch just happened bul kathos swords get 15/45 now and a bunch of other sets and gear got rebuffed and a few nerfs like pestilence set corpse dmgs now reduced
you linked the S16 version twice
Hi am new here is this builds applicable to ps4? or any differents consoles? thanks
Melson Mendoza yes, as long as you can download the updates.
I understand that this is the overall best S12 barb build, but I'm lazy...
Would the loss of speed and GR be really significant if I use HotA instead, because I would like to be competitive on the Leaderboard as well ?
HotA and WW are both excellent options! Even Leapquake is good, but behind these three :)
I'm going HotA all the way for GR and just leech off speedfarming DH in group Rifts :D
If you don't like a build, your probably loosing a few GR level from not mastering the gameplay, so it's yours to choose
Little bit of a shame that this mixed set is so demanding of equipment slots. Prevents you from using things like Vile Ward or Chilinik's Chain for further speed boosts (or direct boosts to FC in the case of Vile Ward). yeah but where'd you get the scythe transmog?
Do I need to use the Hellfire Amulet???
How do i get that weapon transmog?!
Grim reaper transmog
I have a question: how do you increase the base damage stat (that number in the inventory)? Is it purely based on gear or if I play around with skills and passives etc. it will help? I'm not talking about like 2k additional damage, I was browsing leaderboards, saw a barb with a very similar build to mine, but he had 2+ million base damage where as I have around 400k.
GoblinSpore You can hover over it in the details menu to see what influences it. Your weapon has the most influence on that gross damage output.
wich build u recommend to push gr. This or Raekor hota?
It’s super close right now honestly it comes down to which one you can play better personally, and which you have better gear for. Try building both. On leaderboards #1 is charge and #2 is Raekor HOTa. They both are difficult to run unfortunately, but that’s the trade.
This is why a number of skilled gamers like barbs, some builds are hard to master. I'd rather rank high with charge barb or WW than HT garg.
Is it just me or has the Gear Planner link stopped working?
D3 planner links been down for me for a few days :(
works, thanks!
Since this build wants to be constantly dumping Fury is Berserker Rage even worth having?
Yeah it’s srill worth it. When u dump ur Fury ur back up to full in 2 charges, then ur at Max for the next 10 or so charges until you dump again.
were did you get this weapon transmog
Doesnt battle rage-bloodshed also benefit from +%phys on gear? Making phys the obvious option, unless this got changed at some point.
Any reason you're going fire charge?
Bloodshed deal 20% of critical damage dealt, so it doesn't deal damage by itself. It means that no matter what element you choose, it won't effect bloodshed directly

Just looked it up, seems they fixed it, so elemental choice doesnt matter anymore.
Oh, double diping has been patched a long time ago, in 2.5 or even before. Now you can use any element for this particular build, depending on how good your items are
Yeah, makes it easier to roll good bracers or a amulet aslong as it doesnt roll poison or arcane ;p
no movement speed on the boots?
I will Make Barb in 12 Season Thank you for the Video ^__^
Rhykker (or any new Barb charger user) please help a console user, I started my first Barb for Season 12, a couple questions
- what attack causes STUN effects to justify the bracer?
- How do I time the boulder throw to recharge Berzerker?
- Where do I farm a Band of Might?
Whether console or PC, we're all gamers at heart and we all started on Atari 2600 and Commadore 64 so hopefully some good folks can help. I already do GR55 without optimized gear so I'm doing something right.
Frozen from the Cold Rush rune of Furious Charge counts as a stun for Parthan Defenders
Thank you, I thought no one would reply.
I like Charge Barb but under paragon 1000 it seems too risky because one wrong charge or missed boulder toss ruins everything and hard to recover.
this build with siesmic slam -spend all fury instead of boulder toss.
Can someone please tell me what transmog is Rhykker using for his IKBB?
what weapon transmog is that
and how do i get it
For boots I think you want speed boost than anything since more speed=more dmg
you already have the max 25% from paragon at a cost of 125 STR.
where can i find his tier list?
Quick question. Does the movement speed bonus of battle rage: ferocity not better than bloodshed?
No it's not better than bloodshed. It's pretty minor compared to the amount of crit damage you're doing and then 20% of that. Especially in big groups, it's just massive.
Hey Rhykker, I can't find the D3 Planner link in the description. :(
Google it
Link to D3 planners are broken on this and your other barbarian planners
great video rhykker, as ever.
barb looks so incredibly dull may it be the whirlwind barb or the charge barb..
compared to other more complex builds and classes at least.
Hey Rhykker can I ask you some stuff I made this build and I’m pretty set up not the best but not horrible, issue is I’m stuck at GR 78 for season I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong
Jimemy I don’t have an ancient and I’m para 502 if I’m correct
Jimemy Iv been farming for one like crazy but haven’t seen one yet
Jimemy dying
Jimemy I’m basically getting one shot super quickly if I make one wrong move
since furious charge is a generator, wouldn't Simplicity's Strength be stronger than Bane of the Trapped?
simplicity only works on primary skills
is there still this bug that i need force move to increase the charge speed?
cool u remember the patch/season ?
After season 5. Because I got top 15 using it and i remember having to use it. But I think they hot fixed it literally right after season 5 ended.
It's still faster with animation cancel.
whut -.-
what wep transmog is that
Update this for morticks brace.
I always end up losing furious charge charges.. so frustrating
It is. but after you've gotten used to it, it'll no longer be a problem. Your muscle memory will simply take over
there's been a couple people asking about what the transmog is so i figured i'd chime in
It's called the Grim Reaper and you get it by buying the reaper of souls collectors edition or digital deluxe edition according to the d3 wiki here:
