My friend spent 2300 AU$ on an ET5 about 2 months ago. He mostly quit sim racing about 3 weeks ago, as the Immsource has completely ruined his perception of sim racing, and he doesn't enjoy it anymore. He used to spend almost all his free time sim racing, but now it's a surprise if he uses his rig once a week. He spent all his savings on upgrading his hardware for his one and only hobby, only for that hardware to force him out of it. For this reason, I absolutely hate Immsource, and Barry from SRG, as he is the one who convinced my friend that it was a good buy.
Out of curiosity, what wheel base did he switch from ? I have heard that upgrading from a high end belt drive wheel to a DD isn't a massive leap. In contrast to upgrading from a G29 to a CSW 2.5 base, is a big difference.
@@xmxlyyy Thanks. I use a Fanatec CSW 2.5 and it has taken me well over a year of tinkering with settings, using the Fanatec software and game options settings, to get a real world "feel", based on driving my very stock, RL, station wagon. (Incidentally, the scale of rotation settings makes huge differences along with other minor ffb force settings.) At present, I have it pretty much dialed in and its very immersive and convincing to a point. During all trial and error, I realized there are always limitations due to software and hardware. I also suspect, but am unsure if "the feel" remains consistent once it is dialed in, and that "the feel and response" never changes from the everyday restarting of the computer and/or from updates in relevant software. This is why I follow DD hardware reviews, to see how much value can be gained from upgrading, the expense and the re-calibration that will be needed once the leap has been done. Your friend's experience gives me an insight.
definitely my favorite quick release I've seen so far. the nrg style quick release with absolutely no pins is awesome to see. I'm hoping fanatec steps up their game on the quick release side of things other wise in the spring I'll be buying something with the nrg style qr like this or the moza just need a review from you on the 2 different moza pedals to decide if I get one of those or the fanatec csl load cell
Couple years after releasing Simucube 2 Sport/Pro it's still the best DD base - WOW. I think about changing my TS-PC to Simucube Pro, but after driving couple DD wheels (DD Pro, Simagic M10 etc) I still have one problem - they feel "empty" when driving on straights :)
Somebody please send Will an alpha mini with newer firmware to test please! I'd love to hear his thoughts about it, especially since its peak torque of 13nm bests it's advertised 10nm. It's really funny that people have problem with similar looking direct drive bases. All of them are using normal industrial stepper motors as basepoint. (Just making their own controller for them.) I think this would be nice to remind (and educate people) on video when comparing Immsource, Simagic or Simucube, why they look like so and are mainly front flush mounted. No need to blame anyone of "copying" as it's common to see under comments on these brands. Edit: Before anyone jumps on this, I want to be clear these are just my own observations and I don't work on this industry. On my mind it would just make sense since they all use normal "motor shells" that they would source these rather than reinventing what already has existed for a long time.
