As much as I love Robin's talk show "interviews" where he goes on and does his unstoppable schtick before a live audience, there's something so special and beautiful about these quiet, honest, vulnerable, gentle interviews. It's so amazing to hear him speak in his natural voice for so long at a stretch-his natural voice is really beautiful-and he's enganged, alive, and dare I say it, happy. It surprises me just how little footage there is of him being himself and being genuinely happy at the same time. I'm so grateful for Charlie's light touch with an interview, and for anyone, really, who makes someone like this happy for a while, when he did the same for us so many times.
I watch these interviews whenever i feel like laughing, its just endless and automatic, and I've watched them many times. What a gift. Thank you Robin.
Thanks Charlie for such a beautiful eulogy, Thanks for sharing your love for someone who touched so many and inspired so many smiles, and uncontrollable joy and laughter
This man is a treasure and a legend. Thank God we had him and have him recorded on many performances for those who come later. RIP Robin and thank you.
Robin Williams, the youth of everyone children. Able to bring an elder back to his younger days. Unstoppable laughter is something beautiful and should never be forgotten.
The world's greatest and funniest free-association/improv comic genius. and he could do dramatic acting too. very well. a true genius. beloved. so sad it all ended too soon.
i would if i could cry for robin. but i cant. i am still laughing at his wonderful humor. and once hes got you, hes got you. you cannot stop laughing. in my opinion, the funniest man that ever lived. thank you robin for the time you gave us.
ROBIN, still is a breath of fresh air, a stimulation for the Heart.... a moment of sadness. I met him once in Chinatown in NYC early in the morning. I went in to eat Congee soup before school, he was sitting in the 'eating area' behind the green leafy vegetables. I approached and said..."Oh my God its Mick Jagger.... (I grabbed a napkin and said) " Oh Mick can I have your autograph... I love your music and I looked around and said " its incredible...Mick Jagger eating Congee soup" He noddeed his head for me to sit down and we ate and chatted. I still love to hear his voice!
That's cool; I'm glad you got to talk with him. Most fans would've probably hesitated to even approach him; I know I would. A lot of celebs value their personal space, and don't take kindly to being interrupted outside of an official event like a premiere or a convention.
He made life so enjoyable for all of us. It is so sad that he was hurting while he was making us laugh. He was a huge part of my growing up. I still can’t believe he is gone
I love his balance between seriousness and lunacy. I find most funny people can't be serious when needed to and vice versa, but Robin Williams had both minds at once.
A generational talent like no other. Thank you Robin and family for sharing your gifts! What a shame so many brilliant comedians struggle inside. Rest in peace.
Thank you Mr. Williams. There is the magic of light in the characters you so profoundly present to us. Your dramatic expression from before Mork to the 'clean' exit you chose with a free will and clear mind confirm we have a free will. Robin your consideration of all those around show me your compassion and empathy. I am proud to have "met" and learned from you Mr. Robin Williams; Good Sir.
When I would listen to him, I would hear Jonathan Winters. The cadence, the delivery; it's incredible. There is, maybe, one of these minds every 50 years or so. To think that we've had 2 within 30 years means that a future generation will be cheated out of the incredible amount of just pure fun that we've had.
Well that was an hour well spent. A troubled man coping with demons and pain who brought so much joy and interest into the lives of others... the irony is earth shattering. Thank you for the upload.
At 52:00 he sounded so ready to stay alive and appreciate every moment He needed help with depression the same way he got help with alcoholism 12 steps applies to both
h7opolo Charlie is a very thoughtful man, and an incredible interviewer. I think the intro was exceptional compared to the one line obituary’s that are commonplace.
My amazement of Robin Williams just never ends or tires. Such an incredible talent that has never been seen before or will likely be seen again, at least not during my lifetime. Throughout my life, only three noted personalities have had the ability to hold my attention, completely and happily so. They were Robin Williams, Orson Welles and Carl Sagan.
No, most of it is willing to listen and restrain his ego, as evidenced in this interview. You can be sure that Williams learned PILES from Damon, in this regard.

I have been low and I mean low and have attempted to take my own life. My Brother recently did. But once you have experienced low and I mean really low, you can see it in others eyes. I could see it in his eyes, but I saw a very lonely man, of which comedians will tell you it is a lonely profession. But people who are sufferers are very good at showing nothing, building walls and no one can get in. The only way in, even by a professional is if that person lets you.
The second he goes into being funny, I’m in pure heaven. He clearly doesn’t know how powerful he really is as a performer. This man was oozing with energy. I wish he was still with us.
Charlie: (to Robin) “You were here at this table when i had my first valve replacement.” @29:00 Robin immediately commences to make Charlie LAUGH HIS ASS OFF for what seemed like a long time but in reality more like minutes. Every time i was privileged to see him he was always so kind and compassionate towards all ppl. No doubt he helped Charlie feel better. After Robin’s tirade we can hear Charlie say: “Thank you Robin.” RIP SIR. We miss you so very much that it hurts! 💔
Good morning sweetheart, Robin is overwhelmed with questions for each of you. He wants most to know are you happy now he wants to know why and how and please share that he loves you so much thank you.
The many faces of an entertainment legend, you look up and see this has only 2.6K views and it is obvious that most people were attracted to Willams' comedic appeal but by the end of his career he had gone to so many different places. Charlie Rose's interviews encapsulate these different forays as Robin was so much more than the awkward martian from Mork and Mindy. His ability to capture the essence of a compassionate doctor, concerned psychologist, disturbed loner and concentration camp savior were as convincing as his standup spontaneity and genius. If you have ever read any of the biographies of comedians they tend to be lashed with tremendous amounts of sadness and suffering. We'll always say that it was a shame that we lost him so early. For those who will never knew him, we should be glad that we shared the same moments that he did with audiences.
I still miss this man. Sigh... It's somewhat of a relief to find out that the illness he had was such that he was possibly dreaming he was taking his own life. Sleepwalking. The disease ( I can't remember exactly what the name is, but it was not just Parkinsons, and he would have had 3 years at the least of deterioration) would have robbed everything Robin thought endeared him to the millions of his admirers. Me? I'd jooin IMDB for a shor time, get his agent, and send a heartfelt message of condolances. August 11th 2014 a very bright light went out.
Considering Robin's work with Oliver Sachs in 'Awakenings', I can imagine how singularly petrified he must have felt. It's somewhat like real life imitating art. Of all the illnesses one can get, Lewy Body Dementia sounds like a savage disorder. No wonder Robin may have been scared to let himself fall into it. Imagine the prospect of having to loose such a luminous, talented mind... I wouldn't wish it on Osama Bin Laden. Well, maybe....grin...

If not already....you've GOT to see his British interviews. One on Parkinson....from @2002. esp.
The most beautifull footage I think is when he met Koko the gorilla. ♥️
I so agree! He is like a kite, but when you can pin him down, it's a different Robin. He needed both to thrive. Can't keep Robin caged.
