I had a chance to meet him. His second wife Marsha was from Wisconsin and her brother passed away and he was on my husband's softball team. He was such a warm and gentle man. He played football with my sons after the mass and lunch. He loved children. I took his death very hard because I had met him, seen him in concerts and all his films. It was like losing a beloved friend. Be at peace Robin. You are deeply missed.

I can't watch Robin Williams without laughing until I have tears in my eyes.
When I heard of him taking his life I was stunned and so bummed out
that this very gifted man suffered so badly that suicide was his answer and relief.
What a horrific and tragic loss of such hugely gifted man.

Just brilliant he. Was so down to earth, you can not help but love the man himself. He was so brilliant, so sweet, so humble, so worldly, if you just think about for one moment everyone around the world not just in America mourned the loss of Robin, what a testiment to his brilliance, that in 2020 we still miss him. He was just the best. We miss you Robin RIP 😇

Saddens me that someone so quick and intelligent and most importantly, good-hearted had to be taken over and destroyed by such a horrible disease. May his name remain in God's memory

I don't think I'll ever get over Robin's suicide. My mum sent me a text on the day of his death, and I was tearful and sooo very sad for the next few weeks. An actor's death had never had such an impact on me. It really felt like a member of the family had died...it's so weird. I didn't know Robin, but it felt like I did. He was the funniest human alive. Nobody will ever come close. RIP Robin xxxxx. I'll never forget you or your great movies.

    • @respberry123
      @respberry123 8 лет назад +5

I felt absolutely the same. I never ever imagined I could feel so empty and sadened about the death of somebody I don't even personally know.
To me Robin's death felt like a tragedy that permanently changed the world. With his moral qualities and extraordinary energy and sense of humor it was as if he was the symbol of everything positive and good. Him passing away made the world a little darker and colder.
I'm so thankful we still have so many clips of him all over RUclips to help us preserve the undying memory of his genius.

I feel the same way. He made our childhood. He was like everyone's goofy dad. I still cry when I think about it. I've never been so heartbroken over a celebrity. John Ritter was a very close second.

The fact that Robin referenced his time on Inside The Actor's Studio is hilarious. I read one story about this guy who interviewed Robin for, I think it was Jakob The Liar. This guy said his boss called him into the office and was like "You're Interviewing Robin Williams." Then the guy wrote, "I knew I was interviewing Robin Williams and I didn't bother to prewrite any questions or do any preparation. I took three days off and showed up to the interview with a tape recorder."
That's one thing I've always loved about Robin. I'm only 21 and I remember that I was really self conscious when I was in my early teens because I've always been sort of socially awkward and have never felt right even when intentionally trying to be "normal".
Once I saw Robin on Inside The Actors Studio, I was like "Screw this," and ever since then I'll admit I've channeled Robin in that I'll act in the way that makes me feel comfortable and I don't care if people think I'm weird any more.
I'll always mind time and place and the people I'm with, but besides that I don't feel like I absolutely have to fit in perfectly with society.
I'll never know If Robin felt like that too, but I'm thankful for him teaching me and plenty of others that it's okay to be yourself.

I grew up with Robin Williams, first on "Happy Days" and then on to the rest of my life he was truly my favorite actor, period. I still just sit and cry because I miss the idea of him the two comedians that shaped my taste in comedy was John Ritter, and Robin and now they are gone. Who is going to fill their shoes, I can not think of one who could come close. Well one things for sure heaven is a lot funnier place. Can you imagine a improve setion in heaven with Danny Kaye, Jonathan Winter, Robin Williams & John Ritter I want to go to that show, with any of the musicians that past this year.

Every time I see a Robin Williams interview, I always think, okay, this will be the time his improvisation falls flat, he can't possibly be that funny every time. But he absolutely is. This interview is one of the funniest I've ever seen. That a man could play the lead in a dramatic, frightening film like One Hour Photo, then be this hilarious is astounding.

While I did enjoy this interview, it seemed choppy and short. The one with Vincent D' Onofrio ran 2 hours! Oh well, that being said, they overlooked a lotta movies here. For instance, Robin Williams as a man trying to hold onto his sanity in SEIZE THE DAY. Or his touching performance in THE FISHER KING as a homeless man haunted by his dead wife. The drag he wore in MRS. DOUBTFIRE to get next to his children. The crazed DJ who gets shipped to VietNam in GOOD MORNING, VIETNAM. The sad Russian clown who falls for America in MOSCOW ON THE HUDSON. The homeless man he played to Steve Martin's homeless man in WAITING FOR GODOT. I once watched an interview whereas the late great comic did 44 impersonations. Amazing. Charlie Rose and his audience were- aghast. The man was a living adrenaline rush. And it still boggles my mind to this very day that he chose suicide in the end.

I don't think I've actually ever watched an interview with robin williams (not counting those short cuts in special features in movies where they talk strictly about the character) without ending it with a smile on my face. Like that inside the actors studio thing I wouldn't really call it an interview it's really just an hour plus of pure improvised stand up with a random subject thrown in there for him to play of. That's kinda why eventhough he didn't do as many stand up specials like other stand up comedians, he kinda didn't have to cause all u would have to do was to record every interview he did each year and by the end of the year you would have a stand up act :p

I know he was a hilarious chap who was prone to to going off script but the interviewer constantly baiting him because he's expecting every single word to be funny stops there being a fully informative and conversational interview. Just my opinion. I absolutely love Robin WIlliams hence I'd like to see him having a conversation about his career, life, etc..
