    I bought one of these and have been enjoying it. My daily driver is a Radiomaster TX16S, but I wanted something smaller and cheaper to keep in the car, but I’m mostly a fixed wing pilot, so the Boxer/Pocket/Zorro/T-Lite are a non-starter for me, I need more switches for iNav and sliders for the pan tilt. This totally checks all the boxes for me, I hope it holds up long term.

    I've been using a Jumper T lite v1/2 reshelled in something close to this size and form factor with mini AG01s for the last couple years. I've been looking at this radio for a couple months and trying to figure out if RM gimbals would fit...so thank you for some actual useful information. I will be ordering mine tonight, I've already started working on 3d prints to delete the shoulder pots and left momentary as well as the folding antenna. Of course I'll be getting the Hall sensor version and putting v4s or ag01s in that thang .

    •  Год назад

      Have to ask why when you could get the boxerwith the ago1. I tried myself to install tx16s gimbals in a printed case and use the jumper t lite main board but it gets no readings from those gimbal sensors. Figured it's the wrong voltage for the sensor.

    • @skywalkerfpv5073
      @skywalkerfpv5073 Год назад +3

      @yeah you do have to re-wire RM gimbals for Jumper.
      I started with the tx16s and a Mambo…16 was too big, bulky and heavy loved those gimbals though. Mambo, hated the gimbals and latching(recessed) switches among other things. The boxer seems to be somewhere between those 2 so I have a pretty good idea about what I won’t like about it. My reshelled v2 is half the height of a boxer and almost half the weight too.
      I’m still working on my own dream design using the T lite v2 board, full gimbals, rear momentary switches(combat), internal or fixed position antenna, internal elrs and mpm and to have the gimbals slightly offset Xbox style.
      I also just like tinkering and customizing to my needs and wants, easier to do on Jumper than RM and cheaper too.
      I did end up ordering the hall version, 98$ one with the handle and sma antenna.

    I like mine. I was impressed that jumper came out with something interesting and different, so I went for it. Happy to hear there are no build quality concerns, I guess they learned from the criticism...now the big question: will our fickle community allow a good thing to be good, or will everyone keep screaming "jUmPeR iS gArBaGe, DiDnT yOu KnOw?"

I'm gonna chuck them up in my little shirline lathe and I want to turn the whole circumference of the Gimble down and see if I can angle my sticks like them High dollar radios, you know, where their off/rotated by about 15°... Just a thought

    I just received my Jumper T20 with hall effect gimbals. I am a bit picky, but must say from what I have experienced so far, most/all negatives of the radio has probably Radiomaster snobs 😅, or prefer a full sized T16 or boxer, or from references to cheap quality control of some of their older entry level model radios such as Jumper T Lite which I owned, and has not changed in price since day one, so shows it holds its value. The size is perfect for my medium sized hands, as there are no radios out there with this small form factor and full sized gimbals. The gimbals although plastic, are silky smooth commpared to my Taranis X Lite Pro with metal M12 mini gimbals. The 21700 batteries fit with forcing them. The battery cover is a perfect fit, without any play. The injection molded case shows no signs of bad quality and is as solid if not more than the Radiomaster Pocket, and the antenna twists and rotates solidly. All the switches, and dials are plastic with metal coating, but feel and quality is good with no play and do not feel overly cheap. The Jumper T20 has no competition in terms of small form factor with full sized gimbals, and their latest released batch of radios in the UK must have improved their quality control. The internals whilst not as bling as Radiomaster, uses standard reliable circuit boards with tried and trusted wiring and plugs. The past is the past, Jumper deserve praise for this radio design. Also like to add the amazing price of £82 in UK. What you pay for with Radiomaster, is better support for replacement parts. Nothing lasts forever, well plastic does, it is a great budget quality radio. May upgrade with AG01 gimbals one day.

I would like to buy a second radio to carry in my backpack in the mountains, which is more practical and easy to handle. between the Jumper T20 and the Jumper T-Pro V2, which of the two radios could you honestly recommend? I would like to use it for both drones and airplanes in mode1 and also for long range and I also wanted to ask you if it is possible to load the OpenTx firmware on the T20? Thank you.

    There's not a problem with gimbals with potentiometers if they are goods. I have TX from Futaba and JR with more than 20y of use without any problem. And about the sliders on the T20 please don't remove them they are a must with fixed wing planes.

    I know its a totally different shape but how does this radio, compare with the TBS Tango 2? The reason i ask because it doesnt look too big for a "box style" radio, especially for the form factor and plus you get the extra switches/knobs which is always nice, plus it has Trim switches if i ever end up swithcing my RC planes to ELRS as well if i put a FPV camera on it or something.
    Im using it for my Drone's, i have an older Tango 2, so only 250mw power, and no port for the external module. I got a good 2-3 years of regular use out of it so far with the original battery and it still lasts a good amount of time and i dont run dynamic power. The issue is that i really like the Tango 2 but i need a new one basically to be happy and id get the Pro for the folding sticks, and try the 1W internal Crossfire and have the external elrs nano module for my drones that are ELRS already like my newer Mobula7 1S ELRS X12 AIO.
    This seems like a really nice Transmitter to sort of upgrade to the nicer Gimbals, all new parts, the same nice small OLED screen that i always liked because it works perfectly..
    Im more worried about some Quality Issues i heard about the Jumper T-Pro with the same 1W internal ELRS as this Jumper T20/S.
    Would you say theres a quality increase in something like the TBS Tango 2, TBS Mambo, Radio Master TX like a Zorro, not really looking for a full size radio for the Drone. I just dont feel like its necessary and i feel more comfortable with a Controller i can hold nicely with two hands, not to heavy, and not too wide either. I have a full size spektrum radio i use for my RC Planes and i just cant see using a Transmitter that size for a Drone for some reason. Also i really only use a maybe 2-3 switches total on the Drone's.
    My Arm Switch, another for fly Modes, one more for Beeper & Crash Flip, and then sometimes an air mode switch. Most radios for Drones at least, are 8CH or 12CH, and i rarely ever need more than two 3 Pos switches, besides my Arm Switch.
    I dont really have anyone that has any of these newer controllers to be able to even hold them and see how they feel, but i do have a Q X7, Tango 2, and a DX6 to compare it too if that helps..

    Hall sensor gimbals are overated. They are not that "must have" as everyone believes. I used FrSky radios with potentiometer gimbals for many menu years with no issues. Used with flight controllers and without. In my experience you need to fly and use radio every second day or everyday for years to feel the effect of wear. When I fly few days in a month, I never felt the wear. I used Taranis X9D with potentiometer gimbals for 8-9 years.

    • @jort93z
      @jort93z 11 месяцев назад

      There are two versions, one with hall sensor and one with potentiometers. The one with potentiometers is called T20S, the regular T20 has hall sensors. Hall sensors use magnets to detect the position.
      You can clearly see the potentiometers in the video.
      They however use a type of potentiometer that is very highly regarded, rated for 10 million cycles. It's the same type of potentiometers that is used in something like the Futaba T18MZ

    One thing that really annoys me: the ELRS module has some (indirect) issues. Jumper ignored the advice the ELRS devs gave them. There is no Backpack in the TX, and also no pads exposed to mod one in, which the ELRS devs actively suggested them to do so (at no cost to the BOM!). I feel like there is a need to upgrade this ELRS module in a future hardware revision, and a lot of wasted potential.

    • @geometerfpv2804
      @geometerfpv2804 Год назад +2

      You can hardly call not including the backpack "ignoring the devs", they just choose not to include a non-essential feature of ELRS that very few people use anyway. We all change channels in the goggles.

    I'd choose the Boxer over this any day. Radiomaster has a proven track record of making good quality products. That cannot be said about Jumper. They more than once rushed products to market and the buyers end up as beta testers.
    On the inside there's too much going on for my liking, it all doesn't look like a well thought out design, to many boards, to many wires between the shells. A case of form over function. It seems looks are the main selling point for this radio. As Ian said unnessesary bling ;-)
