.408 is an Absolute marvel in ballistics! Love the M-200 and Barrett both Legendary guns! However, I loved to see the ballistics information for both rounds. Keep up the awesome video content!
One thing that 50BMG has over .408 is the amount of payload in a bullet. The Raufoss round he mentioned may not have the same raw terminal energy but that isn't the point, its an explosive round. I don't know if they make 408 with payloads but I figure the size of 50 gives more room for fun stuff.
The .408Chey is a boutique round, fired out of a boutique rifle. Not sure if any major companies load it, I think you have to go to Cheytac for it. The .50BMG comes in many flavors.
50bmg is the best option here. Try finding 408 ammo anywhere. 50BMG can be found at most serious gun stores and more varieties of ammo can be found for it.
I love that you and Matt are collaborating and would love too see you guys make a video together if you haven’t already or if you have I’d love to see another
At range the .50 BMG is unmatched in material destruction because of the Raufoss. So it doesn't really seem that the amount of energy it's delivering at that range is really all that important. I'd be more interested of the comparison of the .408 and .300 win mag.
Hey guys love the channel. I just purchased my 1st shotgun. Didn't realize how many ammo choices there is for 12ga. Think you can make a video explaining which is best for indoor/outdoor range and self defense? Thanks
Big Fan Always love to see competition between favorite rifles and pistols never shot a big caliber rifle but would love to add this toward my bucket list
I love them both and it's almost romantic to dream of owning one, or both. However, reality sets in and I remember how much it costs per round to actually shoot them. I don't live on Demolition Ranch, I live on retired plumber ranch. So I'll just continue to live vicariously through Matt and Brandon and enjoy them defeating the horde of White Claws or whatever nemesis that's trying to storm the gates. Best of luck to all y'all in the drawing. It would be damn cool to own one of these, even if I only got to shoot it once a year!
As an individual I would prefer the Cheytac for several reasons, 1st being a little easier to handle and transport. Plus I might be able to find a range at which to shoot it and I might be able to find targets to shoot at. The .50 might be a better choice based upon certain problems we see arising today in the "UFO" market? Cost of rounds will be a problem unless the Cheytac platform becomes more common and availability is better. At my age though (81) shooting it would be better than sex!
I"m not an expert, but I think the 375 Cheytac has superior ballistics to the 408 (Close to 1.00 BC). maybe you should give it a try Clint. Keep these great videos coming man ! much Love
Per my rifle cadex tremor using 750 A-max at 2815 fps gives you 1986.6 fps with 6572 ft-lbf at 1000 yards. When compairing the two you must use custom hand loads and bullets not machine gun rounds for the comparison. Because all 408 cheytec is custom hand turned match grade ammo not machine gun ammo.
Very true. Plus this is disingenuous the way he keeps changing which 50 round he is comparing. One point is the Amax then its the roufus then its the back ammo. Why didn't he use the Amax when talking about ballistic coefficient? Both are fantastic, yes I own a 50, but this is kinda misleading all around.
.408 is for long-range sniping (and only CheyTac sniper rifles could use such round for now), while .50 BMG is for big targets (vehicles, small aircrafts, bunkers, etc.)
6:10 .308 at 500 yards is closer to 1000-1500 ft/lbs. Hornady lists the 155 grain AMAX at 1225 ft/lbs and the 168 grain ELD-X at 1346 ft/lbs. Otherwise excellent video👍
It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish with the rifle. If you want precession at range, go with the higher velocity and flatter shooting 408. If you want to deliver a devastating payload at range, a 50 BMG loaded with API or APE is the hands down winner. Ask anyone who's had the misfortune of facing off against one for the last 100 years. OH WAIT, YOU CAN'T!
It wouldnt be hard to design a projectile for the 50 that has a longer sleeker design and better Ballistic Coefficient. It would take modification to rifle to chamber it properly but it wouldnt be that big of a deal...... Call it .50 Cheytac or .50 Blackout
I’m sticking with my Serbu 50. It’s easier to get 50 BMG than freaking 5.45! Sure it’s $2-$3 /round but it’s worth it. 6.5 Creedmore bros are hurting too 😢
Curious as to the capabilities of .277SIG FURY with a marksman/sniper setup instead of the short rifle it was designed for. I wonder if it can get close to .408 performance without needing a loan to operate it.
Actually rounds against ballons doesn't work... canada tried to shoot one down a couple of years ago using the complet "mags" of two F18's and it didn't really work
Bruh, 7.62 NATO doesn't even have 3000 ft-lbs at the muzzle! Just thought I'd throw that out there - would love to see yall compare the .408 to the .416 Barrett!
What’s being overlooked is that John Moses Browning designed this caliber over a 100 years ago, and it still hasn’t been replaced.
im going to name my second child john moses browning
His greatest triumph
The ammunition is constantly getting worked on and has wayyy higher BC than it did back in ww2.
the guy is ahead of his time. from M1911, BAR & 50BMG. M1911 trigger is smooth as glass even after 100 years best automatic pistol on my opinion.
John Moses Browning the greatest gun designer
A real battle would be .416 Barrett round vs a .408ct round
Fr
.408 is an Absolute marvel in ballistics! Love the M-200 and Barrett both Legendary guns! However, I loved to see the ballistics information for both rounds. Keep up the awesome video content!
After 400 yards the .408 has more balistic energy than the .50cal. Thats as much balistic info as i can hive you😅

Effectively deleted from the internet’s web site search 🔍!😂
I love it gave me a good chuckle early in the morning. Thank you.
Should also compare those to the 416 barrett.
That's what I came on here to say. .408 to .416 seems like it might be more of an apples to apples comparison
A simi auto 408 would be crazy ‼️
😅😂🤣😂
There is a semiautomatic 408 chey tac... VR1...

They make api for 408 cheytac.
Can yall do a video feature 338 norma and 416 barrett in the mix
It would be nice if you could do a video on different.300 AAC ammo types and what they are most likely best at as in performance .
they both have their place in Idaho 2286 meter not a problem for 408, effective range 50 cal. is still outstanding 1800 meter, great video . Thanks

They are both good rounds. But i wonder about adding 416 barrett in the competition.
.416 holds the world longest confirmed hit at 4.4 miles

Do a big bore battle! .338 Lapua, .338 Norma, .375 Cheytac, .408 Cheytac, .416 Barrett, .460 Styr, .50 BMG!
Which is the best? For what? Concealed carry? And the .50 BMG wasn't around for WW1 which ended in 1918.
I"m not an expert, but I think the 375 Cheytac has superior ballistics to the 408 (Close to 1.00 BC). maybe you should give it a try Clint. Keep these great videos coming man ! much Love
I was about to say the same thing- I've heard the 375 has superior ballistics to the 408 past a certain distance
I think if you can afford it put both of them in your safe! Each round like you said has its purpose.
I think it's a place for both weapons. But at this time unless I have extra money laying around I'd have to go with the 50 for now.
You should get ahold of infinity ward and see if you can get a CF pack that makes you an operator and a couple tuned guns of your choice

Since you mentioned the 20mm, my dad and I were wondering if you could take that case and neck it down to a 50 bmg projectile
Hello
How does those compare to all of Kentucky Ballistic’s Elephant Guns?
Which is better for coyote hunting?
Very well explained and entertaining.
Does it take Glock mags
"the .408 is more pointy. that alone makes it a superior bullet"

408 CheyTac or 416 Barrett in a semiautomatic rifle.
You are wrong about the 50bmg ballistic coefficient- Hornady AMAX has a g1 BC of 1.050.
I’m using this to know what caliber sniper to use in mw2
Greetings from Brazil!
would there be any useful comparisons with 408 cheytac and 338 lapua...
You guys do make awesome content!
Use the Chetek bullet in the .50 BMG casing. That’s what I would do. They make a sabot for the 300 WM! Why not a sabot for BMG .50?
Clint will the .408 Cheytac M200 Intervention come with any ammo?
Hey Clint, being you are in NC. Check out coleman's creek in ellerbe some time. They have great ranges that also go out to 1 mile.

Why is .416 Barrett not in this
Hardly ever squirrel hunt past 400 yds so probably will stick with .50 for that 😂. That .408 looks sexy.
Has anyone ever scaled down a 14.5 x 114mm by half for a rifle? Considering its impressive ballistics would it translate down?
Its an interesting concept but if you need something bigger then a .50 BMG you need air support or artillery.
@@808INFantry11X “scaled down”
Where in charleston, sc were you shooting a mile!?!?
We live here, would love to know so when i win this i can go there 😆😆😆
what would happen if the BMG was loaded to the same pressure as the Cheytac with modern powders
Would love to have a 50
Really enjoyed, thanks
.416 Barrett
Both of them are my choice!
Why not do a ballistic test on the dummy's at a couple different ranges? I'm really interested to see how much energy is being transferred down range

Just had a super wild idea that cheytac could do. What if they made Cheytac Magnums for 375 and 408 but use those bullets in a necked down 50bmg case?
I was recently thinking about what a .45 cal rifle bullet could do if fired from a necked down .50 BMG casing.
Noreen firearms has a semi auto .408
What about the Barrett .416
These balloon jokes be killing me in the gun community
I have no experience with either round or rifle so I would have to say my favorite right now is the one I have a chance of winning.

I just got a Barret 416 M99 but am looking to buy a Desert tech HTI in 416 Barrett since it’s 10rd mag fed and a bullpup
if ur really looking for the best nothing beats 14.5mm for a man portable system lol it has ranges that of a tank lol
