    First, if you didn't see the movie, why are you at the table? Second, this film was fantastic - thrilling and heartfelt. The new cast additions were great, and Howard and Pratt really upped their game. Expert direction and beautiful, dark cinematography. Love these guys but they seem like jaded old farts in this review.

      lol everything you said is the exact opposite. The story was bland and recycled from the other movies. Acting was just fine whereas the characters were boring and had no development. The story was unnecessary in general.

    I don't understand why the producers just don't go for it all and make an out and out horror movie; our deepest primal fear face to face against the original primal monsters. Go for the horror, the "R" rating, the gore; show present day men, women and children contending with the kind of primal fear our palaeolithic ancestors lived with when night-fall came and made family and friends huddle as close to a campfire as possible all to keep the strange fierce creatures lurking beyond the light at bay.

      @schmoab 6 лет назад

      Yeah these are targeted at kids, but I wouldn’t take one younger than 8-9 to see this. That was my thought watching it-the plot is too stupid for adults, so what is the point of this?

  • @paulchristian1358
    @paulchristian1358 6 лет назад +18

    Fallen Kingdom? More like Fallen Franchise. Not a good movie at all. Personally preferred the first one, cause it leaned so heavily on recycling moments from “Jurassic Park” that at least it had the nostalgia going for it. The plot and characters are so weakly written here. Maybe I’m cynical, but these Hollywood studios must think the average moviegoer is a moron.

    Come on.... it's dinosaurs. It's exactly what it's supposed to be. It's not about complex characters with introspective motivation. Not one of these critics can say how they would have done it differently. They can't offer a single interesting, new idea but they can certainly bash it. What script would either of them write if they were offered a million dollars? They've already done flying dinosaurs, swimming dinosaurs, trained dinosaurs and genetically modified dinosaurs. Fallen Kingdom had an great exploding volcano, dinosaurs in a haunted castle and a twist of a little girl. The camera work was great. The effects were great. The sound was great. What would you DO? Giant prehistoric insects, engineering a real fire-breathing dragon, a new Cretaceous Park. It's so lazy to criticize. What do you got?

    • @DonJoeBob
      @DonJoeBob 6 лет назад +3

      Marc Farrell I couldn't have said it better. These critics are an absolute hoot when it comes to blockbusters, all they do is give 'hot takes' and offer no real criticism. Shame since they do know better. Another prime example of clueless elite critics. I literally despise this type of pompous lazy attitude.
      For the record I did enjoy the movie very much. No it's not an amazing classic but it's a fun exciting Jurassic movie.

    • @bradysmith4245
      @bradysmith4245 6 лет назад +1

      Don Joe how about the logic from the original couple is completely thrown out the window. Now that they can have constant special effects the franchise has the mind and logic of a cartoon. In Jurassic Park and I’d say even the first two sequels it still seemed like the movies took place in the real world and the dinosaurs seemed like they had realistic presence to them because they used a lot more animatronics. I haven’t seen this one yet but Jurassic World was kinda crap. Basically pet raptors, giant mayhem erupting everywhere like a transformers movie. That’s not what Jurassic Park was supposed to be

    • @DonJoeBob
      @DonJoeBob 6 лет назад

      You make good valid points, I would very much appreciate more animatronics and realistic effects but those days are all but gone. Could these films be more creative at being personal stories with less visual noise? Absolutely and I would love them even more. But I do enjoy the story of what Fallen Kingdom delivers quite a bit. Dumb fun for sure but a far far cry from the incoherent nonstop barrage that was the Transformers series, of which I simply didn't watch the 4th and 5th one, I'd had enough.

    • @bradysmith4245
      @bradysmith4245 6 лет назад

      Don Joe I haven’t seen this one yet but I’m just taking what I thought of the first Jurassic World and applying it here. It just feels like a different series, like a mega franchised product and I have trouble believing these two series could take place in the same universe when they don’t share any of the same logic or rules

  • @8dolfonrunescape
    @8dolfonrunescape 6 лет назад +3

    I feel like the scriptwriters didn't understand the Jurassic Park books. The series is a horror/suspense/thriller, not an action adventure. They are making these movies like the Marvel movies and it's just...terrible.

      No, it's just some people seem not to mind unoriginal plot devices, whereas the rest of us expect a little more from our movies - especially one with such great predecessors (i.e.: the first two movies). I would've loved nothing more than to love this movie, but the fact is that nostalgia alone cannot carry a sequel..

  • @Jimvanhise
    @Jimvanhise 6 лет назад +7

    The reviewers overlooked the huge plot hole in the film. It is all about rescuing the dinosaurs from the island which is blowing up and these are supposedly the last dinosaurs, but there is no mention at all of SITE B which is where Jurassic Park 3 entirely takes place! The film itself is just okay and entirely too predictable. The script needed to be reworked by someone with new eyes who could see the problems because people who have been working on a film for many months lose their objectivity.

    • @sldy93

    • @------534
      @------534 6 лет назад

      Jimvanhise How is it a plot hole when if even given the Site B option, the dinosaurs we're never going to be taken there anyway? Like, the ones who really wanted to rescue them literally had no choice in the matter where they ended up because it was never going to happen in the first place, Mills was bringing them to CA either way.

      I never saw 2 or 3,so it doesn’t matter to me. Too many movies are concerned with logical consistency in relation to previous films, but this movie had no logic as a stand-alone film.

    I tried to like the first half on the island, but the second half in the giant Gothic mansion was unbelievably stupid. So a giant ship with containers ports in Oakland or Long Beach (where they have the equipment to unload container ships) and no one notices these screaming boxes coming off the ship and going on the interstate with double wide loads to some place upstate? And that stupidity is off screen....

  • @frenchcoupon3391

    What ever happened to giant practical dinosaurs that gives these films a sense of awe and wonder? It makes the Dinos feel more real, all this CGI makes me just not care and to lock a Jurassic Park movie to one mansion location wtf? No sense of adventure and RIDICULOUS storyline

    • @Mr-E.
      @Mr-E. 6 лет назад +4

      So true, I feel like you are the only other person I have seen who likes the original dinosaurs more than the CGI. These movies make SOOOO much money, I'm sure they could afford the real animatronic dinosaurs... I bet in this current day the price would be substantially cheaper to produce the machines too. A movie should NOT be more life-like 25 years ago.

      Mr. E lots of people feel this way. Listen to the nextbestpicture podcast on it. They talk about how the original few movies felt real. And I agree. Even aside from the over use of cgi all logic is out the window in the Jurassic world movies. The movies are essentially live action cartoons now

    SUPER MINOR SPOILER:
    This movie is beyond dumb. Towards the end of the movie we’re shown that within a secret lab they are already growing Dino eggs presumably started from dna remnants of the Dino’s on Isla Nubar. So if you already have the necessary genetic material to replicate these Dino’s why go through the bother of transporting live dangerous animals to America which would be much more expensive and harder conceal!!! And on top of that the need to capture Blue was pointless because they had already grown a hyper intelligent raptor to begin with. Wtf screenwriters I’ll accept some reasonable doubt to have fun but god damn this is screen writing malpractice. Also the characters suck so yea...

    So glad I didn't watch any trailers for this before seeing it, looks like they gave away a few things there. Unlike the WTF crew, I kind of appreciated the second half of the film where they took the action to a more gothic monster setting which we'd never really seen in a JP film before, lots of Hammer Horror vibes going on there which was a refreshing change of pace somewhat after 4 films. But I honestly don't expect to see any contemporary Jurassic Park sequel ever hit the cinematic heights that Spielberg achieved with the very first film, it's a 90s-era techno-thriller classic, these new films are just nonsense action movies now.

    I dont understand what people keep talking about. First off you shouldnt review a movie you haven't seen. Second, you clearly just werent paying attention to the fact that Lockwood cloned his daughter, the directors wanted to play on the "unholy" aspect of the idea (easily caught in how the film was musically scored), and the second part of a trilogy is always going to be a bridge from something to the finale so it shouldnt be the best film in a franchise. Even though probably no film with Dr-throne the first Jurassic Park film, this was one of the better films of the franchise. A true fan of the original novels and films can easily see that.

  • @moviemetropolis
    @moviemetropolis 6 лет назад +9

    I find this review incredibly poor. For one, you frequently use the incorrect names for the stars, it is Daniella Pineda, not Gabriella. It’s hard to take your assessment seriously when you haven’t done the proper research.
    Overall, Fallen Kingdom is a great sequel that takes the franchise in a new direction, similar to what The Last Jedi did to Star Wars. Yes, the script is still clunky, but the cinematography, special effects and unexpected themes of animal rights are fabulous.
    And all of this nonsense about a lack of characterisation is bizarre. Spielberg’s original lacked characterisation and at the time that was what people complained about the most. You say it yourself in this review: it’s a “monster movie”. Switch your brain off for two hours and enjoy yourselves.
    Plus, the opening sequence is one of the best scenes from the entire year so far.
    Easily a 7/10 and the best JP sequel.

    • @shaunom8363
      @shaunom8363 6 лет назад +3

      "Switch your brain off for two hours and enjoy yourselves." That's how you judge a good movie? It's like I want to eat something but not food, I'm not gonna get thing that is essential for me to quench my hunger, which is food. In your case you don't want to use the brain, which is used to take in and assess what you're seeing?

    • @moviemetropolis
      @moviemetropolis 6 лет назад +1

      Shauno hmmm I don’t think I said that’s how I judge a good movie but the Jurassic series has always been about enjoying rampaging dinosaurs, not incredibly deep characterisations. The human characters in the series rightly play second fiddle to the incredibly realistic-looking prehistoric beasts.
      I’m more than happy to sit and debate life whilst watching Schindler’s List or The Post or 2001: A Space Odyssey, but sometimes I want big dumb fun and there’s nothing wrong with that.
      As a film critic myself, I appreciate all genres and styles, indie or blockbuster. If you don’t, then you’re not a very good critic.
      Fallen Kingdom is exactly what I wanted from Jurassic Park, something fun, fast-paced and actually a little different to the rest of the series.

  • @Traceymc937

    It wasn't a great movie but I still enjoyed it, probably because I don't over think every aspect of a film. Of course there were moments of it that were recycled and totally predictable but it was still fun. Alonso and Christy are at the point where they can't seem to just have fun anymore and enjoy a film for what it is. I mean c'mon I don't think anyone is going to see a Jurassic Park movie to learn the meaning of life or see great acting. Great effects, dinosaurs, action and more dinosaurs!! This movie delivers!

      Restrictions in technology back in 1993 meant they had to use the dinos sparsely, and intelligently. A claw here, a tail there, a shadow and a sound. Now they can dump as many dinos onto the screen as they want, and some people at Hollywood must believe that more is better.

    I will stipulate that I went to a late show, and went to a theatre with reclining seats so I was really comfortable; BUT I didn't expect to fall asleep in the middle of the movie. I ALWAYS go to late shows (most times even after a cocktail) and have never fallen asleep. I woke back up, but I didn't enjoy it as much as Jurassic World. It was ok I guess. I could have waited to see it on Netflix/HBO/whatever streaming service might get it

    Hi all,, I didn't like it and I didn't hate it. I love all the CGI,, I want to see it again in 3d just for that aspect of the film. I didn't form any connections to the cast members so I could care less if they got eaten. Script was boring, unoriginal, and no character build up. Go back and see Jurassic Park 1. This film should be renamed,,,," 2 hours 8 minutes Chased by Dinosaurs, What a day" When does the Next Planet of the Apes Come out?

    Awesome movie. More Dinosaurs on screen I never felt like they were treated as a afterthought. Some CGI was cheap, the plot is also a bit over used. The movie was awesome and creepy towards the last Half

  • @Ironbat92
    @Ironbat92 6 лет назад +1

    It was fine. I did like how the question "should Dinosaurs be alive now" was presented here, than in in the previous films, and it works as a Dino-Monster movie. I just hated a) how Cartoonishly evil the villains were(One looks like a cross between Donald Trump and the Elephant Man) and b) how slow the last 3rd of the movie was(I.E, when they got off the island). It felt like it should of ended 10-15 minutes earlier.
    But yeah, it fine, if you see at a discount. Still prefer these two movies over either Lost World and JP3 ,as Jurassic Park sequels.

    I’ve been watching a lot of documentaries on volcanos lately, and that whole scenario with the volcano in the movie was pure bullshit, lol! The effects are good, and there are lots of cool new dinosaurs but there’s also a lot of “Oh, come on” moments in this, just saw it today, the original will always be the best.

    The worst ending to a film I have ever seen! Lets just release a T-Rex and a bunch of other dangerous dinosaurs into civilisation in the USA with no thought as to the safety of other humans and how stupid that is. Sure millions of men, women and children will be put in danger and probably killed if we release these animals but lets forget about that and release them upon the world anyway. I can't even understand what the writers were thinking. Hmmm risk millions of peoples lives or let 11 dinosaurs die? Boy thats a tough one. And making the little girl press the button to release the dinosaurs is a bullshit cop-out.
    Plus we already saw what happens when you let a dinosaur loose in a city in the second Jurassic Park film when Jeff Goldblum tries to lure that T-Rex back to the boat that was wreaking havoc in Seattle.
    Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid

    • @mesicek7
      @mesicek7 6 лет назад

      Triggered? Im not triggered im annoyed at the shit that gets constantly produced in Hollywood these days and Jurassic World and its sequel are the biggest shites to come out in recent years. It was the same bs with the first JW people jizzing all over it how amazing it is. Then i watched it and no wonder the movie world is so shit when people have such low expectations and get so easily convinced just because it has dinosaur and they completely ignore a stupid plot. Normies what can you do you sadly can't live without them.

    • @y3ee3e

    This movie was big dumb fun with dinosaurs. Admittedly not also delivered with a heavy plot, but I was entertained. Check out the news (CNN?) crawl on the bottom of the screen in an early scene. There is a comment regarding "the President" which is hysterical (and yet made me a little sad).

      By that logic, 'Pacific Rim' and 'Transformers' are equally good because they both feature giant robots fighting.
      'Batman and Robin' and 'Dark Knight' both feature billionaires dressing up as bats and chasing bad guys. Equal.
      Hitchcock's 'The Birds' and 'Birdemic' both feature birds going after people.
      'Schindler's List' and 'Dead Snow' both feature Nazis.
