Oh that's interesting, i'm about to build an external box to add to my t-rex echorec, with lfo and a slider to control speed, and with compader/frq cuts to get my echoes to sound a bit cleaner and thus, maybe not as precise as a 201, but i'm shure i can get it to make longer and cleaner echoes with feedback (at least as clean as an echoplex, the 201 is very precise and metalic in sound, the echoplex is a bit "muddyer" or lets say woobly), i'm used to doing these kinds of operations(designed and built a bunch of delay units), i even have all the circuits designed for the task. Thanks for the demo...
@@xtra4u210 that compress is the way why the Spaceecho is good, the noisy thing is something about wrong use, here we see that the output is on high and that is why its noisy. The Spaceecho need high clear input so you can trim with the instrument knob and low output and nothing is noisy.
Self oscillation. It's when the echo level is feeding back. What your hearing is the repeat rate being adjusted during this. Thought I'd answer incase you didn't get an answer in the 3 years since you posted this. Lol
@@ThePinkguns Give me your email and will send you details please . . I have a Baby Binson, for restoration , and two larger 4 knob Echorecs. . one has new original motor so will want fitting and machine setup and calibration ( Sound City badged ) The other is Binson badged.
The Roland sounds great, but it's an effect I feel like you could get with a digital emulation like the boss pedal. It's very clear. The echorec has a vibe to it thats hard to emulate. Also a comparison with a good echorec without bad heads would be more fair no?
The 603 has no bad heads and sounds the cleanest. In the video it was driven hard so the repeats aren’t that clean. The 2nd T7E has ok heads and sounds perfect for the things I use it for. (Guitar) The first T7E has bad heads and I don’t really use it.. The space echo I use mainly when mixing.
Oh right, my bad! I skipped over the second echorec. Was trying to compare the tones quickly so I was jumping between the 1st T7E and the Spacecho. I would use the two as you described as well. I'm on the search for a T7E right now. May I ask where you acquired yours?
I got the 2 T7E’s on ebay, the first one (with the bad heads) was located in sweden and had the drum rewound. I got it fairlycheap. The 2nd one came from Italy and was advertised as non working. I contacted the seller and he informed me that the drum was spinning and the tubes were glowing but there was no sound. When i got it, i noticed the inputs had bad connections, so I resoldered them and everything worked fine. Luckily the wiring on both T7E’s had been replaced. Watch out for ones with old wiring! They have all gone bad and are a pain to replace! The 603 I got from a guy here in the Netherlands. He had a collection of vintage echo units and had a lot of binsons. He sold me the as new 603 very cheap. I had the choice which model I wanted cause he had so many. I now regret not buyung the stereo one for the same price.. I tried to find this guy again, but unfortunately I can’t find him anymore...
Colin Beams I agree, the space echo shines in the studio. For live use, I just love the echorecs. It’s not tape, but a magnetic disc, and it has a whole level of depht to it that can’t be replicated by digital pedals. I tried all the emulations and they sounded great, but not the same..
Len David I'd like to own both one day, but I just got a T7E off eBay and it's on its way. Too excited! Was thinking about getting the boonar pedal but ya... feared it wouldn't be the same and I just wanted the real thing. Much more badass!
Man, that 10 sec intro was magic
This is what I'm here for
Beautifully filmed.
Roland sounds great but Binson is best
Thanks for posting this. Awesome.
Wow even really like the distress binson ! And all
Nostalgic SOUND 🎼🎵🎶
Binson has more mids, more character and a crazy mojo. The Space Echo is more sweet, less ambiant.
Space Echo for me
Weird how the space echo has the tape just freely doing shit in the tray.
Too stop wow and flutter.

There's just something about the Roland, man... It's just got a little extra musical love to me.
Not true, Binsons were the King , tape echoes were crap, and compressed sound and noisy

At one point there on the Roland, I'm sure you had the Jetsons space craft!
Binson is a legend!!!
What produces the effect at 9:20 amp reverb?
