Unfortunately the death letters received are nothing as in detail as this, very vague " sorry your love one has died in the line of duty" its not that emotional, almost makes it worse in a way i guess
I love how the drumming kicks it into fuckin 11 after the shelling lyric. great touch to the vast number of explosions the would have faced from that shelling
That's a great part of the song, and the vocal part you mentioned is the perfect build-up for that. It's really like a desperate, shellshocked cry from the trenches.

Man, this song hit me so hard. It is just a couple of weeks ago that I visited Tyne cot cemetery, In Flanders Fields Museum and the Ieper Menin gate. One can only get quiet and humble when being surrounded by thousands and thousands of peoples names who died for freedom.... This song, in it's own way, brings honor to those names and the people behind those names.
Brutal Music with real-life horror based lyrics are much more effective than those which based on fantasy or religions. Nick's voice fits in this song also perfectly!

I think that songs about real, bloody conflict are far more "metal" than any of the cheesy "Satanic" nonsense, and a good reminder not to repeat the mistakes our ancestors made in the past.
This is not to say Satanism isn't real and a problem. But the big satanic "church" is absolutely just a bunch of degenerates who want to make Christians angry.
At least this is showing people reality...the history of humanity...religion isn't...I'd rather have history sung about...especially if giving a lesson as well...I mean how many of us were taught proper history at school..
