Great video bro🔥🔥🔥 Awesome breakdown. Drake did another song with a beat switch between “SICKO MODE” and “Jimmy crooks”. He did it with FUTURE on “life is good”
Whats funny is that its possible that the original producers might not even know some the techniques he used they just went with flow of what's sound good
I've been a subscriber since almost the beginning of your channel and I gotta say (if I haven't said already) that it's the best channel on youtube. Your content, your research, your accuracy, your improvement & etc are in no ways comparable to any other one - outstanding. You are appreciated bro 🙏
Men this is great. With all these details, you appreciate Drake's aesthetics and style more. Great information. The concept of acceleranto is very interesting.
very cool trick, getting that "side chain" effect on the 808 with an envelope shaper. I thought they might had done that with a muted kick track + a gate. Never too old to learn haha. Amazing stuff as always!
For any of yall that don’t sidechain the 808 to the kick, especially for a rack kick, moving the kick by tiny increments can make it fit way better with the 808. You pretty much gotta just test every kick and move it slightly forward or back so that it sits right with the 808. It has to do with the waveform and wether or not they are clashing. Moving the kick just slightly can change how the waveforms interact and make it sound wayyy better. It creates a different sound compared to sidechaining which can be nice but it takes more work.
I think the beat switch idea was first established for drake in "If you're reading this it's too late" all the songs in that album were pretty much 2 songs in one way or another
in the first beat one of the sample chops is played in reverse. you can hear that the vocals in the last chop of each bar kinda fade in in the original

@@PaxBritannica34563 That's the reason why I want the remake, I think it's a banger and a couple of months ago Aiden posted an Instagram storie where he made a survey "What remake you guys prefer: Goosebumps or Starboy", so maybe he had the remake almost finished
Bro this is really nice how yall made this beat my father will be proud that someone used his music never thought it will be a sample but thank him yah hope to meet the producer one day
I want to wish everyone a happy Valentine’s Day. Wherever you are rn just know you are loved and cared for by so many people out there. Stay safe and take care
Drake's done quite a few beat switches, fair trade, TSU and n 2 deep on clb had one, jimmy crooks, her loss has a lot of beat switches, rich flex, broke boys, hours in silences etc. For all the dogs had a few musical changes half way through songs too, 7969, fpsm etc. Don't forget his old classic tracks too, pound cake switched into a different beat/song too
Appreciate the comment. Many Drake songs do have beat switches. I was referring to songs that switch up to a specific type of faster beat like what we heard in SICKO MODE pt 3. The BPM in the songs you mentioned either stayed the same or slowed down. Apart from Broke Boys. That's another good example of this method.
Another good way to emulate the sidechain while the kick isn’t playing is to duplicate the rack kick and use it as a ghost note to trigger the sidechain effect. Same process as regular sidechaining, just unroute the ghost kick from the master channel and put it where ever you want to duck the 808 😎
Another way to get the sidechain on the 808 on parts without the kick is to put another sidechain but put the kick down to 0 velocity so you can't actually hear it but still have it trigger the compressor
The kick + 808 alone took almost 10 minutes for Aiden to explain 🤣
it's such a weird thing tbh 😭😭
it's unusual from a producer's point of view, especially with the reverse polarity
but it was important if you wanna be a better producer. i learned something new from it

One of the best breakdowns I’ve ever watched, regardless of genre. Unbelievable attention to detail. Many Thanks!
Droppin gems in this one. Polarity effects distortion, male vocal samples clashing with male artists. Great stuff.
I was actually thinking about how this was made and wanted to look a video up for it, and here you are! The remake king! Thank you!

I think recently the influence is from Travis Scott as a lot of their collaborations have beat switches and it's a staple of Travis' style
