Ah yes, Downshift! First saw him on TV along with Dark Crumplezone, Evac & the theme song which I loved. Wanted to get Downshift but never could, bit of a hole in my childhood. Hopefully I could get one MISB someday
They really should have made the flip out guns on Red Alert out of bright red plastic or something. You can barely notice them when flipped out to a point that I had no idea what his gimmick was on the box art.
Back in energon downshift was actually supposed to be wheeljack, they just didn't have the copyright to the name so they changed it to downshift. This is the same character/mold from energon.
That's why it snowballed into the series dub mess. If Energon Downshift was supposed to be Wheeljack, was Energon Cliffjumper meant to be Downshift? Also why Armada Rampage was named Wheeljack in the US if they had copyright issues?
