GoPro always comes out top in these, it's what it is great at, however, you then look at battery life, reliability and sound and the GoPro starts to lose ground. The Drift XL is an all day camera, switch it on put a 128gb card in and you can film all day long. The GoPro your lucky to get an hour out of it. I've started using the Insta 360 4k but I don't publish anything like you so it's good for what I need and much better image than the Drift. I still have my Drift XL and I reckon I will still use it on the longer days.
Hello Paul. I'm not normally one for commenting, but I do follow your videos and really enjoy the banter you have with Ray. To me, the stabilisation and clarity and colour vibrancy is far better on the gopro, and makes the video much easier to watch. I just hope the hero11 is a reliable camera.
The image quality on the go-pro is much better then the Drift. However I prefer the Drift XL (set at 1080 & 60fps) as it lasts so much longer without the need for additional power banks and wiring. Also, the go-pro costs in the region of £200 more than the Drift..! Excellent comparison video. 👍
On my last ride I got 1 hour recording on the hero 10 with a mixture of 5k and 2.7k. The Max battery lasted about 5 minutes longer in hero mode at 1080. After the entire ride, my drift ghost s was still recording. 160 minutes, and still not given up. I'll definitely stick with drift for recording voice, and for the standard touring video. The Gopro's I'll use for short rides out, or spectacular roads on tour. 👍
Hello Paul, hope your well buddy. Great to see you n Mr Jones out and about again for another years riding. The trip with the Broady bikers to Lux was great to see. Them two live just up the road from me about a mile away. I am in Knaresborough North Yorkshire. Just got rid of my 125cc scooter as too slow with camping gear on. Max was 53mph. Got a WK sport now. Just done 3,002 miles in 8 years and only ever had 2 MOTs She was taken off the road for a while for a total respray in matt black. White when it left the factory. Can I find a luggage rack for it, hell no. Only want to fit a 40ltr top box on for now. Off camping again soon for first time on her. I have named her BLACKBIRD. Love it now i put new chain and sprockets on. ANYWAY see you both soon on the next one. Take care and stay safe out there.
Cheers pal 👍 125 scooters are great. Perfect for some of the roads we do. Next time, we're up that neck of the woods. You're welcome to come out on a ride. Thanks for watching pal 👍 Safe riding.
@@paulgriffiths6404 Defo Paul, Am in Knaresborough so let me know when your up here and by all means it be a honour to ride with you both. And defo fun too. Be nice to have a good day out. Hope to see you soon. Take care and stay safe out there...
Hey Paul no doubt go pro is sharper but I kept with a drift for the battery life and the perceived difference is not that much in reality. Drift located on the top of the helmet really exaggerates movement so not really a true comparison to your new go pro. For the difference in price better to have a couple drifts where your not stopping to swap batteries on a frequent basis. Just my opinion but I’m sure the go pro gang would disagree
The Hero is clearer, more defined edges to buildings, trees etc you’re passing. Although the Hero in this video is darker, it’s a darker sky so that can’t be judged. It seems smoother too when you’re looking around.
Forgot to mention…the Hero is looking through the bike screen at the moment which isn’t the clearest view, while the higher up Pro isn’t filming through the screen so has a better view …if that makes sense, which it probably won’t 😂😂😂
@@OldWhistler7743 it makes a lot of sense. 👌 It's why I don't normally use a chin mounted camera. My screen is too high and much less transparent than Paul's. 👍
I see you have already received a lot of feedback, so I'll look at other stuff. Yes the Go Pro is better, the Drift always benefits from some sun on it's back IMO, but even then the GP will win out. You are going to need your power packs on your tours, Richy has gone that way. If you are going to use the chin mount make sure you keep your screen clear at least daily. Audio is spot on even at speed. As a side note being hearing impaired, one of the things that really pushes my buttons is when there is music 'underneath' when someone is talking...when did that become popular? You want music on play music...you want us to listen to you then talk....I don't want a drum beat playing when you are talking. Just sayin...
Finally! What a difference, like day and night. The image stabilisation in the GoPro makes a BIG differnce and much better sharpness. The colours also seems better, as do the the contrast in the sky for example. And that's on a rather grey day, probably will be even more noticeably on a clear, sunny day. Good choise, will lift your videos massively. And personally I think 1080/60 is fully enough for youtube, and you save some on the memory cards and the battery.
way better, for me the biggest and best difference is the extra wide view followed closely buy the smoothness, but i think it needs to be upped to 2k i wouldnt bother with 4k. im so happy for ur upgrade im gonna enjoy ur vids even more keep it up, and i mean the good work not something else lmao
Clouds look better on the GoPro, giving the picture a better balance. Less movement from the wider angle too, I think. I prefer the view from the chin mount. Hope this helps. Cheers
The footage of the new camera lot's great mate, can I you how you got the Ghost XL to work as you do with the mic? having real problems. Keep the videos coming.
The video stabilization and smoothness from the GoPro is worth the drawback in battery life IMHO. The video also looks much more crisp. The audio is also really good with the Drift mic. 👍
As a professional photographer the drift has better depth of colour and aspect ratio but it's whatever floats your boat. Go pro 11 has been having overheating and mic issues reading the subject press daily. Also upsets people on all the accessories go pro ownership brings but as always your choice regardless of what. I own neither from experience I should add but have lots of experience down the years and have no issues with my current choice so have no plans to use either.
Its a tricky one, i like the angle of the Drift and the view, but Go Pro is more sharp, may need to adjust the setting for the stabilization but my vote is Go Pro but maybe on top as where the Drift is???
hi paul .just my little input mate .gopro really clear.i would be concerned about reliability.a lot of bikers seam to be going for dji action 3 .more reliable easy to mount .but more expensive i believe.pleased the bike is ok now . ride safe mate .the old fella
GoPro11 seem to capture the world a bit better than the Drift Ghost XL pro. Additionally, I like the location of the Go Pro on your chin or chest more than on top of your helmet. Thanks for asking our opinion.
Hello fantastic video easy to watch, I enjoy your videos but sometimes it made me sea sick with all the head movements and switched them off, this looked a lot better more stable.
Is the Drift image stabilisation switched on?? Because it looks like it isn’t… I’m not a fan of chin mounts as the view thru the screen gets on me nerves 😂 but the position of the drift makes for an unsettling viewing experience! 👍🏼👍🏼
Please accept my apologies. That was not my intention for the screenshot. Last year , I purchased a new camera and have been receiving feedback regarding the screen movements as the camera was mounted on the helmet. Due to feedback I have changed the camera and wanted people's opinions if the new footage was better. I appreciate your feedback and honesty. Thank you for taking the time to comment and to watch the video. 👍
Hiya Paul.....It's Lofty here.......there is no doubting the Go Pro is a better quality picture and the stabilization is in a different league............Where is the sound coming from? What are you filming in 1080 or 4k? I personally think a 1 hr battery life is a real pain and then there is the file size...GoPro files are much larger and take far longer to render, making a 512gb a minimum. I too have been experimenting, with the DJI action 3. The stabilization is amazing, but batteries and file size is very similar to the Go Pro. I have decided to film all of the sound on the Ghost, helmet mounted and fix the DJI on the bike to get rid of my nodding dog syndrone....lol.... Keep up the good work you and Ray are the best married couple making vids #theloftybiker
Cheers pal 👍, the audio is directly into the Gopro via the media mod. It's just the normal drift mic. I filmed for 2 hours at standard bit rate 1080p at 60fps. It used 32.5gb. Which is similar to the xl pro. The file size is huge if you film after 2k or 4k. Yeah the batteries aren't that good, but it runs on my rav power pack, small enough to fit in inner pocket. 👍👍
Go pro is better but from my experience I couldn't get on with them. Having to constantly change batteries or wear a power-packed for a full days riding annoyed me and affected my enjoyment of being out riding. Also, with batteries running out I missed some footage. I opted for the drift as a compromise due to ease of use. Don't think it will impact anyone watching your great videos either way :)
I always found the go pro's have better picture. The 11 seems to have a far superior image and the stability is far better than your drift judging by your split screen images.
Tea pot one goPro settings are good That’s what I use on mine check it out if you like Get a USB lead stick it in your camera then put it into a power bank You can record all day long
Better contrast on go pro and slightly wider view, sound OK with the drift mic, but that annoying background loop " music " has to go...had to turn off
GoPro is the better quality of the video and colour is better as well, stabilisation is perfect, but as others have said the only drawback is you need a power bank connected to get longer than an hour of recording as well as a larger SD card, now all being said I want to see a real test of the stabilisation by mounting a GoPro on Ray's helmet 🤔😂
GoPro all day long, Drift is not as sharp and can't cope with contrast, even my old Hero 4 silver is better than the XL Pro. Great comparison BTW, stay safe 👍
Fantastic Paul, I had to give up on your last few videos due to the movement making me feel seasick, much better now.🤣😂
