You are one of the few reviewers who properly evaluate IEM based using binaural audio. As I use spatial DSP (Waves NX / DTS-X / Atmos for headphones) on 2-channel/multi-channel content with headphones, binaural rendering is really important to me. Also, props for using Desert Dwellers as a test track!

Oh-no MEST version 2 is out, but twice the price of this RSV. Any future plans to review? I'm hoping that we'll get some more insight on these RSVs as fellow forum members receive theirs.
This IEM sounds remarkably similar to another Softears IEM, the Softears Turii, despite the latter being a single DD design. This shows when done right, BA-based IEMs can sound as natural as DD-based IEMs. The Turii itself is a remarkable IEM, going head to head with QDC’s triple DD Dmagic. But at about half the price of the Turii, the RSV gets pretty close to the performance of the Turii. I prefer this over Dunu SA6, despite having one less driver.
Well.. After two weeks of hesitating between Dunu Sa6, Thieaudio monarch/clair, Moondrop blessing 2, Ej07, Mangrid tea, Penon volt and so on... im trying these !!!! crossing fingers it hit the sweet spot. :D
It seems like the new kids on the block in this price range are the SoftEars RSV, the Dunu SA6, the Kinera Nanna 2.0 and the Tri Starlight 4. Is the RSV more suited for audiophile music genres or is it good for all genres?

I'm thinking about buying the Softears, the Nanna or the Starlight. Zeos prefered the Starlight to the Nanna. Maybe you can get a review unit of the Starlight. Atm I I still hesitate to import a china IEM at such a high cost because of the related risks like bad comfort, potential QC issues or being not satisfied with the sound.
RSV is suitable for all genres. I tested it today and gonna buy it tomorrow. It's balanced but a bit fun and dynamics. Not dry boring like moondrop blessing 2. But RSV is not really clean or detail or separation. It's more on good tonality overall. The music sounds natural
Nice review Michael. Keep up the great work. I am intrigued but I need to wait for the arrival of my Tri Starlights next week and decide if I should keep them or the Nanna 2.0. Then I may consider the RSV.

I can't say really how they compare to the Nannas other than I think the Nannas are a little milder or smoother in the treble region. I need to listen to them back to back after some break-in and see if I prefer one over the other.
I believe the Lokahi when EQ'd and using Dolby Surround V4 the Lokahi sound just right and performs well for the price and 7(BA) .......I was thinking on buying these Soft Ears RSV !
I agree Lokahi is very good for the price!!!. As far as the RSV. I cannot help but love it like my 1st born son. Sadly, only a few of my friends kept theirs. I would say maybe this is a set that either nails you in the sweet spot or falls short.

The right tips and low OI source, is so key, then this thing will sing to the freaking moon 🌙 man, I'm telling you. IDC what anyone says 😂. Had I tried just the first two sets of tips and the first source, I would've just thought meh, it's aight..and moved on. But, then thanks to you telling me to get and try it with the recent released Softears UC tips, shut the front door dude 😆 this thing is stupid! Like legit it's a straight banger and super good. It is organic and nice meat on those notes, YET, it's clear and clean as all heck, and detailed to the full desires. I didn't get that in the first tips/source I Tried if you're not getting the seal it's underwhelming, and just kinda slightly warm and nothing note worthy, and that sounds familiar with popular reviews of this, doesn't it 😏. BUT, WHEN you get that great seal and right low OI source, then that bass comes up and in enough, and it didn't come in from the other tips that 'I thought I was getting a solid seal,' but NOPE. Then, THE WHOLE RANGES, it just got so much cleaner and much more layered so to speak, stage was better, it was way more detailed, and that more bass I mention was present, and the whole presentation and tuning and timbre, just superb. It's incredible 😂. This thing is a must, as you guys told me, it needs that LOW OI AND super GOOD SEAL, it's a super must; and ppl 'I think they think, like I did, that they are getting that 'good enough seal, and fit,' but in truth, they aren't. Or, they'd maybe be hitting the twilight zone like us, cuz it's real 😆. But if at the least, this thing is hitting my HRTF, that's for sure, on the UC tips. It becomes A 15 to 20 layered cake of straight goodness 😂. Great rec, just wanted to toss this here, cuz you deserved it and this iem deserves better by some, in the community..jmt

I just received this IEM, I bought it second hand... well, one of the 2pin connector its kind of loose... I mean, it's easy to put in and take out the cable, much easier than a "normal" one. It does not fall but it's not well attached like the other... I've 2 questions: Why it happens? I need to worry?
Someone put in a cable that stretched the 2 pin out. Usually a decent fix is just a differnt cable with a tighter 2 pin, you can also sand the 2 pin on the cable a hair to give more grip.

Bro, is RSV better than FiiO FH7s or FH9? I prefer neutral with slight warm, good sub bass rumble and proper midrange tonality and timbre overall. I don't like piercing treble. I listen to many genres but mostly vocals, rock and metal

Yes it actually does.. to me. It's treble isnt 'pushed'. It's some of the most perfect treble ive ever heard on anything. Just right as any mix intends. s8 can be considered a bit hyped in the high end.
He can think whatever he wants! That's the beauty of the hobby I suppose. It's not a competition. I can say so far about %80 of people that got the RSV thought it was pretty amazing. Not too bad. But surely everyone has their preference.

I think ideal is something you can stretch around the bore that isn't too long, that way you can bottom them out and achieve a good seal with no bore constriction.

Example : Kinera Nanna holds a dynamic / electrostatic / and ba ... and is known to be one of the top tier iem , which is just another two hundred dollars than these ones , but in my view worth it.
Explain the Final A8000 then; 1 driver, simply amazing. It's all about the tuning. Look up the u18T from 64 Audio; universally thumbs down as compared to the less expensive model featuring fewer drivers the u12t.

Thank you!! In the future I think more Binaural audio will be mixed into tracks. I know some producers that are using dummy heads with ear mics.

All genres for sure! It's a perfectly balanced set imo. The Nana 2.0 is also VERY good as well. SA6 is not my favorite so far.

for running I use an LG G8x as source, ES100 as amp and whatever headphones. Every time!
While the price is much closer to Monarch and driver configuration close to SA6. So which one of three you recommend?

Easily, no problem.
Rsv is good for all genres including metal. Guitar riff balanced with bass drum. Not too harsh not too overwhelmed
The Lack of vents killls me. I tried listening to my Moondrop S8 for 4-6 hours a day and the pressure really builds and hurts after a while.
Yeaahhh, I got nothing for you man. Prolly stick with vented IEMs.
I tested RSV for 2 hours. No pressure or fatigue. All good

Anything that doesnt extend passed the end of the nozzle. Mostly I use Comply T500 cut in half.

driver count doesn't mean anything,
it's all about the implementation/tuning,
there is a 3 driver set that better than the thieaudio monarch.

@@digitalnation2876 Driver count can mean something but what i was referring to was variety of drivers in iem . Example : Kinera Nanna holds a dynamic / electrostatic / and ba ... and is known to be one of the top tier iem , which is just another two hundred dollars than these ones , but in my view worth it.

Explain the Final A8000 then; 1 driver, simply amazing. It's all about the tuning. Look up the u18T from 64 Audio; universally thumbs down as compared to the less expensive model featuring fewer drivers the u12t.
