    I've gotten a lot of different fruits and veggies from my Vietnamese friend and many are so labor intensive I know why she weighs 95 lbs. LOL I have had lychee and I just got the outer shell off and chewed on it until I got to the pit. I have no answer for making them edible for littles.

    Hi Alicia. The Rambutan are similar to Lychee. You could just peel back the shell with your fingers. You are exactly right you might want to have them try it when they are older. After peeling it you would pop it in your mouth and eat the flesh off the pit with your teeth. I do know that Lychees come pitted in cans. We use them for fruit salads. One of your viewers did mention that Rambutans were available in cans. Hope this helps🥰 Alicia you are just 11:22 11:28 an amazing Mom and what you do for the girls❤️ Alicia don’t try to cut it, you are going to end up cutting yourself. Look for them in the cans, they are peeled and pitted.Lychees do not have the fringe on their shell but the shell is bumpy. Love and blessings ❤️🌺🙏❤️

    Alicia, if anyone ever doubts your extreme patience, just steer them to this video. My goodness, I've never seen so much work produce so little fruit - LOL! I saw a lot of comments on the girls' channel that stated the best way to eat rambutan was to simply pop it into your mouth and chew around the pit. This method also ensures that all that wonderful juice can be enjoyed without spilling a drop. Since the girls, especially Guinevere, seemed to really enjoy the taste, like you said, you'll definitely have to try it again when they are old enough to deal with the pit themselves. You'd think with all the nifty kitchen gadgets out there, someone would have invented something to easily remove the pit from the fleshy part of this fruit. I agree with the people who commented that it looks like a sea urchin, and it is actually quite beautiful. Oh, the wonders of nature! 😊

    The monkeys in Cambodia love rambutan. They rip them open w their teeth, eat the flesh and spit out the seed. It is pronounced RAM BU TAN. The monkeys are so cool and funny. I saw a dragon fruit @ the supermarket yesterday. I didn't buy them bc they were really small. Something I do want to try though.

    To open this tropical fruit, you can use a knife like you did or use your nail to dig in the middle and twist the two halves, left half clockwise and the other anti clockwise direction or vice versa.
    To eat the fruit, bite it like you eat an apple or pear. Some fruits have the flesh come out easily and nicely, others do not. Some can be juicy but the one you have is not that kind.

    The organic rambutan we do everything with teeth( no knife need). Maybe once girls get older you can try it. For adults if its organic ( no chemicals used), you can just bite and open the outer. Get the white fruit out and use teeth again to get the flesh out.😊.

    Alicia, here’s a video showing how to eat rambutan. It looks like the “skin” that surrounds the seed/pit is edible: ruclips.net/user/shortsdprvSzTbd2U?si=a3EQvbDSeZ7Vlb31 And another link: ruclips.net/video/ce7ECearFok/видео.htmlsi=lJPxTeBhmho3UOEW. I’ve watched several videos and from what I’ve seen, all you need to do is remove the pit and cut it up for the kids. No need to remove that skin…it’s edible, just like the skin on a grape.

    • @sahmhotmessexpress
      @sahmhotmessexpress  9 месяцев назад +1

      It had a herd texture almost like wood which is why I removed it. I ate one and the flesh was so yummy, but the part of the pit that stuck to the fruit wasn't pleasant😬💜💜

    • @coolstamper
      @coolstamper 9 месяцев назад

      @@sahmhotmessexpress It may be that the people in the videos have always eaten it that way and are used to it. All I know is I watched several videos (more than I linked to you), and they all ate it. But that also doesn’t mean that everyone likes it that way. 🙂

    In some countries (South East Asia e.g. Philippines, Malaysia etc) there are canned rambutans in syrup in which there is only the soft white fleshy part in it. Can drain away the syrup and add the canned rambutans to freshly squeezed fruit juice instead.
    Rambutan seed contains traces of the toxic chemical known as saponins and should not be eaten.
    Maybe can try checking up videos on how to cut a rambutan on RUclips.
    Eating a fresh rambutan has a common problem that is the outer layer of the seed sticks onto the white fleshy part of the fruit and is hard like a tree park🥴
