- My last day of gun season in 2023 was one of my greatest hunting days in a while. everything seemed to come together. I had my best friend (Ian) and my amazing wife Joy (also my best friend) with me in the woods. I had already harvested a mature doe and we were on our way to go home for lunch. One last hunt before we left and God worked everything out for me. I hope you enjoy this video. I saved my best day for my last day of gun season!

Second rut is coming in. I always take off the Friday before last day.
@@Derrek4Real I have really become a fan of late muzzleloader. The holiday season is when I feel like I can get the most time in the woods with friends. Some people hate it, but it's nice for people who need it.
@TheHunterGatherer I've always had best luck last few days of gun season and during muzzleloader. Last week October and first week is always best during rut. Hit a cold front day with a big temp drop hunt a funnel or a ridge and u will kill a buck all day. Been doing it since diapers. U ever lose a deer look me up I am apart of deer Search and united blood trackers. Best of wishes to u. Good luck this year.

I hunt mule deer here at home. I enjoy stalking them from long distance and try to get in range. Sometimes I hunt whitetails on the river bottom. Last year I saw more moose than deer along the river. Good luck in 2024!

NY hunter here also. Based in Rochester (pray for me lol), but hunt over in 8A.. I was looking at property (under 50 acres) in 9P but thought doe tags were hard to come by. Is that not the case?
@JohnDoe-uw8in they are hard to come by. That's one of the good things about muzzleloader and the holiday season. If you didn't fill your regular season buck tag, it turns into an either sex tag!
