Well done Kris for talking about the veg and growing amongst the tropicals. Can;t wait to see how it works out. I too intermingle fruit trees, peach, figs, yuzo and a pineapple guava (not fruit yet), amongst the tropicals, and will be growing callaloo, a Caribbean spinach in the veg area.
I'd like to tell you about my experience with growing Summer Cypress Burning Bush, it seeds A LOT, I mean, one single plant can have thousands of little seeds, but the neat thing is, after it goes red in the autumn, it will stay like that for a few weeks, but then it starts to brown off, you can then cut it at the base, put in a bag, and shake it so that you can collect all the tiny seeds and resow. From what I've seen, they're very drought tolerant, but if you don't water them at all and they go dry, they'll stay quite small, they also grow VERY fast and can easily get more than 100cm's tall. They seem to LOVE full, scorching sun and quite high temps. You can also sow these very close to eachother, they melt very nicely into eachother and you can basically make a hedge in a few months.
No Ricinus seeds there? Hopefully, we will get a better year as it was so wet last year, the annals didn't grow well at all. Thanks for sharing your garden and seed choices Chris.
Hi Kris im from south london but in malaysia at the moment seeing my in-laws the palms and others here are superb, the thought of going home soon fills me with dread
In Northern Ireland, I grew several banana passion fruit, the plant escaped through the roof of the greenhouse, climbed up the tree, flowered and fruited. Unfortunately, I couldn't reach them, but they ripened fully.
Hi Chris, just wondered what those Agaves were in your garden. I know Hull is quite dry as I used to live there, but its probably too wet here in the west. I have to dig them up and dry them off to stop rot (in Agave americana). Are there species that are more resistant to rot ? Thanks, Andrew
Hi Chris this time last year when started the season did you say you was keeping a tally of everything you spent on the garden. If you did what was the amount of thanks Adrian
Beautiful snow. I hope everything makes it through the winter.

@shadyboy-c3k enjoy your time in Malaysia. Fortunately London hasn't had any really cold temps and I don't think any snow at all
In Northern Ireland, I grew several banana passion fruit, the plant escaped through the roof of the greenhouse, climbed up the tree, flowered and fruited. Unfortunately, I couldn't reach them, but they ripened fully.
Bamboo trap but it will pop right back up when it melts
We have snow in indiana, USA . We are supposed to get more tonight. Cold temperatures too.
@sannaericditsler4034 yes I saw the US forecast. Looks like a big snowstorm for several states. Hope it's not too cold
Nice snowy & palmy wonderland! Do you have any rosemary?
@TheBarefootedGardener no rosemary at the moment but I may add one.

Hi Andrew, they're americana, lopantha hybrid and Montanas. Montanas being the most hardy.

Is it recommended to cover agaves?
@jameshoughton7967 yes very good idea to cover them, even hardy ones to stop any damage

It’s just black and white 🙈
Can you grow passion fruit?

@robertorodriguez1050 I tried cucamelons last year and got no fruits believe it or not. I did try growing them around the bamboos though
