    I really feel for people with mental health issues cause these days its impossible for them to afford food and housing. Its become acceptable to just leave them out in the streets to suffer. Thanks for adresssing these issues. Rio is just one place out of many being affected.

    I live in Bayville. A nice little house. We have a lot of heroin users around here . We lost our business and hope we don’t lose our house. My husband found a good job, but for me it’s been 7 months and no job yet. It’s all part time min wage jobs. And I’m now 56 and competing with younger workers. It’s depressing . I want to work but no jobs

    Good information and history of the area. This does show the problem in the area but does not discuss that Rio Grande is a hub of social services and non-profits trying to help those in need. As mentioned, affordable housing and reasonable wages are root causes but Cape May County is one a few counties in the entire state with no homeless shelter or transitional housing.
